Просмотров 29 тыс.11 лет назад
I had the opportunity to buy an original BMW "new old stock" R60 crankshaft and thought it would be interesting to take some measurements and use these as a benchmark for 2 other crankshafts I have: - R60 used & rebuilt crankshaft (properly done?) - R67/2 used crankshaft (how much wear and tear?) BMW R60 clutch and flywheel removal
Hello Jan. Your work is perfect. Like a guide. Congratulations. I have a question. I knew there mustn't be any clearance between the front bearing and bearing retainer. But I'm not 100% sure. I see you mentioned and measured the clearance of them. Can you tell me what should this clearance be? Best Regards.
There should be no clearance, so that there is no axial movement of the crankshaft
@@janwithagen3208, yes there is no axial movement according to my search throughout many documents and experience. But you are measuring a clearance between bearing and retainer, after pressing and fixing the retainer at 04:30. Feeler gauge fits between the bearing and retainer after resizing the ratainer. Am I wrong?
@@mustafademirbas5448 no, you are right. Only now I noticed that the sequence is wrong: text should appear after I measure a clearance. Thanks for pointing out!
@@janwithagen3208thank you for your effort.
Absolutely Fabulous job chap...... your tech knowledge is brilliant
Half way through this video documentation, one sees the European power outlet …
Timeless excellence! Thanks for making and preserving these vids!
Nicely shot video! I was surprised to see multiple coil springs and not the usual single single spring plate with multiple fingers. Are these coil springs standard BMW parrts?
Hello. tool for extracting pinion bearing race. Both nuts and bolts are already in place when you insert puller or do you insert bolts after puller is installed?
Bolts & nuts are inserted after the puller is installed

You can find most of them in our webshop: www.bmwclassicmotorcycles.com
Good job. What are differrences at crankshaft between r51/3 and r67. Can I change only conrods? What oder crankshaft can I use for 600ccm cylinder on r51 block? help is much appreciated.

HOLA, I'M ROBERTO MARRAS FROM CHILE YOUR VIDEO HELPED ME TO ASSEMBLE TWO ENGINES THAT WERE BAD, I REALLY AM VERY GRATEFUL, I DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO DO IT AND AFTER SO MANY YEARS IN THIS I ACHIEVED IT. NOW MY PROBLEM IS WITH A 51/3 GEARBOX I MUST CHANGE KICKSTARAER RATCHET. DO YOU HAVE ANY VIDEO OF THIS?
Hi Roberto. I have no video of a gearbox overhaul (yet), but the Barrington manual is a great source of information for such a job. See the section 'tools' in the webshop: www.bmwclassicmotorcycles.com
What is the wire diameter we should be use in this case.? Thank you in advance.
When Tightening my 51/3 flywheel , it gets really difficult to turn by hand . What could be wrong? (Currently Rebuilding the whole engine )

Thank you very much for some nice "secrets" !!! very beautiful work/tools/skills/methods/speed/ !!!!!!!!! what else ? Excellent !!!!
Bravo !! and thank you for sharing your work and knowledge !
Thanks
Jan you are simply amazing!!I have a R67/3 and i want to rebuild it..i have one question..what bearings you are using??Faq or Skf?Also just 6207 C3??There is any stronger bearing would you suggest??Thank you for your time
Crankshaft bearings are FAG 6207 M - brass cage - with standard tolerance (CN) The CN bearing is recommended when the rear main bearing holder is not going to be renewed and the pressfit of the bearing is equal to or below 0.01 mm. In case of a tighter pressfit, the 6207 C3 bearing is recommended
You are a MASTER ! Love ALL your works, thanks a bunch for making and sharing videos !!!!!!
Very Very Very nice indeed !!! And so useful !!! i have to go trough this exact procedure and i have access to all the tools BUT it is not my job !!! so i discover how to perform this procedure thanks to you !!! You have ALL my respects !! Great idea as well to make the "vés" out of teflon !!! i'm making the same today !!! Great idea to use the mill table as a marble : i'm going to use it the same way !!! Great video : short, precise and synthetic with "résumés" of all measures at end of all chapters !!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!! My R50 is completely stripped down to the crankshaft. Would love to see your measures on a NOS camshaft as well !!! ( if any )
Nice to see someone show how it's done, wish you would give a little commentary on some of the do's , don'ts and why it's done this way. Much appreciated.
beautiful......thank you so much for sharing!!
Thank you... These days it's hard to find a good mechanic ... I do my job the same way you do. Perfect is not enough. Congratulations
Κατατοπιστικότατο!!!
Very didactic and without the stupid fllood of words of some. Congratulations!!! Sehr didaktisch und ohne die dumme Flut von Worten von einigen. Herzliche Glückwünsche!!!
That's a nice Extractor you are using......may be a BMW Special tool......??
Indeed this is a special BMW tool (Matra 355a set). We reproduce them. bmwclassicmotorcycles.com/index.php/tools-products/puller-matra-355.html
Having the tools is one thing, but your tecknical skill is 90% more than mine...Hmmmmm...I have a R1100RS in pieces, the gearbox needs sorting out, so I will keep looking at your videos, and try and learn something

Tolle Arbeit und schöne Filmarbeit.. Wer schonmal sowas gemacht hat, weis wieviel Arbeit das ist;-)
Thanks for the videos. I am currently working on a '64 R69s. Would like to know where you got all your puller tools. I am struggling with making my own jigs. Getting by so far with disassembly, but worried about the reassembly. Would be nice to know if there was a place you ordered them from or if they are custom made. Thanks.
+Matthew Cilliers Hi Matthew, you'll find these tools in our webshop. Some of them are custom made by us. www.bmwclassicmotorcycles.com
