The vocal range of Kenny Hickey
In light of the success that my vocal range video for Peter Steele has seen, here we have a video for Type O Negative's other vocalist (and guitarist)! Juxtaposing Steele's booming bass voice with his own powerful tenor belt, Kenny Hickey first started doing occasional lead vocals on Type O Negative's The Origin of the Feces album in 1992, and continued to do so on every one of the band's releases thereafter except for 1996's October Rust. In 2003, he and Type O Negative drummer Johnny Kelly founded their own band, Seventh Void, which made its debut release (with Kenny handling all vocal parts), Heaven Is Gone, in 2009. Seventh Void has continued to tour and perform since Steele's demise ...

The vocal range of James Hetfield
Просмотров 73 тыс.9 лет назад
Known for his chesty belting style and his tendency to end every word on an "ah" vowel, James Hetfield's vocals as frontman of Metallica have made him quite famous across the world over the last 30 years. However, it's seldom recognized that he actually has a pretty decent vocal range as well, mainly because he doesn't make a habit of singing as high as many other metal singers. Nonetheless, ov...
The vocal range of Joey Belladonna
Просмотров 13 тыс.10 лет назад
Here we have the man who was my favorite singer in the world during his prime, and who I believe once had one of the most flawlessly bright timbres to ever grace the heavy metal scene, as well as one of the most stunningly agile high registers. Joey was originally hired as vocalist for Anthrax in 1984, serving as a replacement for Neil Turbin, an insanely technical high note screamer. He quickl...
The vocal range of Gene Simmons
Просмотров 15 тыс.10 лет назад
Though Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons both traditionally share lead vocals in KISS, Stanley has always played a greater role as the frontman in the band, which is why most would normally associate his voice with their music. However, over their career of forty years and counting, Simmons has actually showcased quite an impressive display of vocal range in the songs he's sung with the group, as w...
The vocal range of David Lee Roth
Просмотров 39 тыс.11 лет назад
Most know David Lee Roth for his zany stage presence and over-the-top performances, but seldom is it recognized that he possesses a remarkably wide vocal range too. Part of the reason for this is that his best known work with Van Halen mostly showcases him only singing in a range of roughly B2-B4. However, upon leaving the band, Roth went on to launch a successful solo career that would showcas...
The vocal range of Billy Gibbons
Просмотров 19 тыс.11 лет назад
Though he may not be your typical hard rock high note aficionado, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top and The Moving Sidewalks is one vocalist who is far more versatile than a lot of people would estimate. He naturally has a VERY low voice, which he has begun to showcase in his music fairly regularly since the 1990s, especially when speaking dramatically during live performances. All the same, however, he'...
The vocal range of Tito Larriva
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.11 лет назад
A criminally under-recognized musician and songwriter, Tito Larriva has been making music since the late '70s, starting out with the punk bank The Plugz. He then went on to form a band in east LA called the Cruzados in the '80s, but unfortunately, they only lasted long enough to release two studio albums before splitting up. Their debut album remains my favorite record to this day, though. Anyw...
The vocal range of Paul Stanley
Просмотров 36 тыс.11 лет назад
Another one of my favorite singers of all time, here we have a video for the iconic frontman of KISS. Stanley started out as a fairly average singer who would do some fairly high notes every now and then, then as the years went by, he began to develop a very strong extension on his high range. The first album where this is heavily noticeable is probably KISS' 1983 release, Lick It Up, which has...
The vocal range of Andre Matos
Просмотров 21 тыс.11 лет назад
A legendary singer in the world of power metal, Matos has most prominently sung for Angra and Shaman, as well as maintaining an ongoing solo career and doing single albums with projects like Virgo and Symfonia. I decided to put together this video for him after noticing just how many inaccuracies there were listed in the other pre-existing vocal range videos for him, and after checking his whol...

Paul simply strained his voice to the point where he did permanent damage. He could have made some healthier choices vocally. He basically yelled. I was a huge fan and I overlooked it for years, but now it really bothers me to hear.

Paul’s idol was Steve Marriott, singing and his stage poses too. Watch the Small Faces video of ‘Tin Soldier’, a young Stanley Isen must have watched it 10,000 times as a kid, all Stanley’s moves came from Marriott 💯

Heard only the other day how Joe's voice is better than when he started in Def Leppard. When Vivian Campbell joined then back in 1992 he introduced the band to amazing vocal coach so Joe said over the years his voice keeps improving.

My friend was a equipment person for many bands and he said Peter was such a sweet person and was so shy he literally had to drink wine to calm his nerves so he could preform on stage. I know he loved cats and rescued many so that says quite a bit about a person to me. The world lost a truly good soul. He is always missed. May his soul Rest In Peace.

    • @mikeystarr775

It’s Vivian. His song and vocals.

    • @Thetarantinomaniac
      @Thetarantinomaniac 2 года назад

Can you provide some kind of source about that? I tried to look it up and this was all I could find: "The band took control of the master recordings from Slang and released a deluxe edition of the album in 2014, capturing early versions of many songs and assorted b-sides. The morose sounding “All on Your Touch” was originally tracked in 1995 and given a title “Heavy Metal Christmas," but was unfinished. In 2012, Joe Elliott re-wrote the song and recorded new vocals." So while Vivian may have sang on it originally, it sounds like this version was indeed sung by Joe.

Towards the 80's Paul started singing in a higher register. Back in the Destroyer days they had him sing in a lower register for a good reason. It was so he wouldn't loose his voice so easily. I notice some bands like STRYPER who are singing in a lower register now and it works for them. If Paul had done that his voice wouldn't be shot now. like it is . . .
