HARVESTING SWEET POTATOES- Did We Improve From Last Year?
I have been looking forward to this harvest (yet somewhat apprehensive) since the day we planted them!
With the help and tips from our viewers, I was able to grow sweet potato slips for the very first time 😁 All those slips were lovingly planted in the heat of early June.
The vines have grown beautifully BUT I know that doesn’t mean there’s actual potatoes!
Come spend this beautiful day with us and see how our sweet potatoes harvest went….

WATER BATH CANNING ROASTED PEPPERS!
Просмотров 96712 часов назад
My favourite thing to can and most definitely my favourite canned food to eat! I love roasted peppers 🌶️ We eat them fresh as much as possible and for when we can’t…I make sure we have them on our pantry shelf to get us through the winter. They taste DELICIOUS! I prefer mine with more oil than vinegar but I will explain the variations you can do to make them how you enjoy them! An easy water ba...
ABUNDANTLY BLESSED WITH AN AMAZING HARVEST (The Perfect Day)

It was the perfect day! Beautiful weather, being in the garden almost all day, spending time with Frank and our barn animals scattered all around. Never could I have imagined the harvest that came from the garden…all in one day! We finished our potato and carrot harvests, found melons everywhere and the peppers couldn’t be more colourful. This is how we feed ourselves all year long..from our ga...

Always a fun crop to pull and Franks favourite food to eat! We grow our potatoes using the Ruth Stout method and quite honestly I wasn’t very confident about this harvest. They didn’t get “hilled” as high as usual and I think I skipped fertilizing or two… This is potato harvest #1. There’s still another big crop to go coming soon! #homestead #gardening #potato

AN ABUNDANT HARVEST AFTER MOTHER NATURE’S WRATH

I needed to be in the garden this day for several reasons. One being the obvious that things needed to be harvested. The other reason…the day before we had record breaking 6 inches of rain that flooded our basement (and barn). MY POOR TOMATO PLANTS - WILL THEY SURVIVE? Or Did I Make Things Worse!
Просмотров 2,9 тыс.Месяц назад
I have never ever had blight so early in the growing season and definitely never this bad! It’s has spread to every plant. I don’t know what impact this is going to have on my tomato harvest. And to make things worse, some critter or two or three is chomping down several of the tomato plants too! I’m going to try one organic treatment I found online. With my fingers crossed and lots of prayers....

A beautiful (but very hot) day in the garden! We rescued some carrots and pulled the volunteer potatoes that were encroaching on their space and were pleasantly surprised 😃 A modest onion harvest but better than last year so we are very grateful for that! I feel for you. Every so often we also plant sweet potatoes, which are in the ground for so long that we have never had any success. Either we leave them too long and they go mouldy or if we pull them too early they are skinny and misshapen, I now buy sweet potatoes as they are always a regular vegetable for our table and are cheaper than pumpkin. We live in Newcastle, NSW, Australia on the coast just a couple of hundred kilometres north of Sydney we have beautiful weather and just entering Spring. My favourite time of year. Good luck with your future sweet potato crops, I have given up. Love your videos, look forward to every one of them. We are a couple with a suburban backyard (large by most standards) and in our early 70's, love gardening but have to be realistic about what our bodies will allow us to achieve. Grateful for the produce we get.
