Food & Culture Tour in Ise, the Spiritual Heart of Japan! (Traditional Street Food, Gourmet &...)

Okage-yokocho is the bustling, central part of the Oharaimachi hospitality district adjacent to the inner shrine of Ise Jingu (伊勢神宮), the most sacred Shinto shrine in Japan. For thousands of years travelers have come here from across Japan on pilgrimage. This tradition continues to the present day, although the reasons for visiting have undergone a secular shift, and most "pilgrims" these days ...
We built a house in Japan, and THIS is how our central heating (& cooling) system works. 🇯🇵

Right from the start of the design process, we decided we wanted to have some kind of central heating system something extremely rare in a Japanese home. This is one of my favorite things to do in Japan: pick a place on the map, ride there and just see what it’s like, taking in the scenery and sounds of the area. This can of course be fun in a city as well, but the rural experience is really special - relaxing and invigorating at the same time. In this video I ride around a village in the mountains of central Mie Prefecture. There’s an old Shint...

      @@etherdog I think Sushiro will be renovating all their restaurants over the next year or so. Apparently this was one of the first. As for the ‘washed out’ look…I agree. The phone I borrowed for the video (my daughter’s iPhone 15) had the resolution cranked all the way up and Final Cut had some trouble dealing with it. (My current iPhone has the same issue, and I was assuming/hoping the new one wouldn’t.) Easily solved by turning the video resolution down…but I’ll have to mess around with filters a bit if I want to use 4K video.

Your current logo is fine and I think appropriately signaling that you are a bit more of a serious channel that goes deeper into Japan and its culture (although a cute dog is never a bad idea). • @Jordan-inJapan
      @Jordan-inJapan 3 месяца назад

      The good news is it’s totally doable. There aren’t any laws preventing foreign nationals from owning property, or ‘special taxes’ or anything like that. The less good news is that a. property value doesn’t usually go up here (not good from an investment point of view), b. it’s very hard to get a bank loan unless you have permanent residency status and a stable income, and c, the process can be a bit complicated, especially if you aren’t fluent in Japanese and the seller isn’t used to doing things in English. Because of this I recommend going through a major real estate company who you can trust to walk you through the process step by step. I think if you do a quick search on line, you’ll find lots of options in this area. Well, good luck! And here are some useful vocabulary for you, just in case… Real estate - 不動産 fudо̄san Property - 物件 bukken Real estate agent - 不動産業者 fudо̄san gyо̄sha Deposit - 保証金 hoshōkin Loan for buying a house - 住宅ローン, jūtaku rōn Purchase - 購入する kо̄nyū-suru Contract - 契約書 keiyaku-sho Budget - 予算 yosan

      Thanks for the comment! I didn’t really do it justice though. You really need the experience of walking down (a flight of stairs) ‘into the pond’ followed by the contrasting colors of the hidden, inner temple to get the full effect.

      Thanks! .This one took way too long to make. 😅 (I think I’ll stick to more fun topics like brew pub visits for a while…)

    I love Hazy IPA. There are many California breweries, and some fantastic IPA.

      Yeah, for ‘delicious factor’, a good hazy IPA is hard to beat. 👍

    I went to Awaji-Island on a family vacation last summer, and man that place was fun. It definitely makes my “Top 5 Unexpectedly Awesome…” list. (Now there’s a video I’ll have to get to one of these days.) Anyway, the “Water Temple” was just one of the many interesting places we visited there.

      There are so many cool things to introduce about that place, the hard part is just narrowing my scope. Cheers! 🍻
