Hannspree T153 multisystem 4:3 LCD TV for retro gaming
This Hannspree T153 TV can switch between PAL and NTSC systems allowing you to play retro consoles from Europe, Asia, Australia and anywhere else that does not use NTSC. These were made for sports fans back in the day in different sizes and shapes, but with its analog tuner, lack of HDMI, and 4:3 aspect ratio they are only useful for niche retro purposes today.
If you are in North America, and you own old PAL consoles like me you know how hard it is to find a TV that can play them. Some old Sharp TVs can do PAL B/G/D/K/I but only on AV input. Since Atari 2600-era consoles have RF outputs the only option is to find a TV with PAL/NTSC analog tuner. Comment below if you know other analog TVs ...

Trying Ninja Golf for Atari 7800
Просмотров 15Месяц назад
I like weirdness, and mixing ninja business with golf is pretty awesome. Before recording this I was able to reach later levels. Unfortunately the video capture device (connected to my handheld emulator's HDMI out) adds considerable amount of lag which is enough to mess me up (I swear I am not that bad). Ultimately the capture device crashed and put an end to this misery. Did you finish this ga...

LMD 990 Portable DVD Player 9.8" Screen with Games and TV from eBay

I was looking for a compact multi-system TV so I can connect my old consoles via AV and/or RF. I came across this "gem" on eBay that claimed to have analog TV tuner and A/V inputs that supports PAL/SECAM/NTSC. I did not care much about its DVD capabilities. I got it to work for A/V input, but not RF. I at least got a partial refund. Lesson learned. The sad part is that the sticker on it shows t...
Bootleg PAC-MAN LCD game Warehouse PAC, plus Combat Invasion

Tele-Match 4 Model 7700 Pong Clone from the 70's

My first game console that can connect to a TV was a pong clone (a later model than this which I no longer have). After Atari's Pong success many companies produced machines like this based on the same General Instruments chip AY-3-8500 or its variations. This Tele-Match console bought from eBay was a little moldy, but it worked fine otherwise. The past 4 decades could not destroy it. Did you o...

AV Composite and S-Video to HDMI Adapter Upconverter

The market is full of identical boxes that convert composite A/V input to HDMI. I saw this newer model that has couple of advantages: It has S-Video input, and 2 buttons to adjust aspect ratio and resolution. I did not detect any input lag (but then I am already old :). The only noticeable differences between A/V and HDMI were: 1. HDMI output seems slightly higher contrast (can be fixed on the ...

I did not have any classic black case 2600 for my collection so I bought this from someone in Hungary. This PAL console is advertising 350 games built in. Bank switch shows 128, 32, and 190 games. While 190 position connects to different lines on the PCB it still shows the same games as the 128 position. So there are 160 games in total. Still, these games slightly differ from my other two 160-i...

Retro Game Generator for Android - Atari 2600 Style

I believe these ones with the music have a seperate chip solely for that function. Crude PC speaker-esqe music still takes up a decent amount of storage and CPU cycles, so it makes some sense to do it this way.

The shaft of the joystick itself... is a valve stem for a car tire, part number TR414. you can get them today at nearly any auto parts store for just a few dollars. Won't help with the button of course, but may be good info later on. Thanks for the video!

In Israel, when people say "Tetris", they usually talk about this. Nintendo didn't even sell products officially here all the way up to the Switch (though of course, there was a surge of original Game Boys during the Pokemon craze of the early 2000s). To this day, when people refer to 90s gaming here, they will often talk about the "Megason" (a famiclone, possibly from Thailand or China), and these "Tetris" machines. (Sega, on the other hand, sold official Mega Drives and Game Gears like hell!)

I loved the Epyx 500xj but i didn't love its buttons. So I got one of these hoping for the perfect fusion. Nope! The thin pistol grip made the joystick platform less stable than the hand-wrap design of the Epyx, and the trigger firebutton was somehow not better. I think fattening up the grip so it fills my adult hand better would help. May try 3d printing something to do that.

The Top Gun name was used in Germany, where the mail order brand Quelle released a lot of these cheap no-name games, often with hilarious German names and even more hilarious cover art. They sometimes used names in pop culture. They, for example, released Fast Eddie as „Mr. T“ Gopher for example was called „Die Ratte und die Karotten“ (The Rat and the Carrots), and Pac-Kong had a transformer on the cover.

Still some great games. I still have the unit, it just got wore out after many hours of play. Btw it's Bobby is Going Home.

It looks like the label was deliberately flipped to appear more modern, with the controller ports on the front of the system. It's just unfortunate that the power and video ports reside their as well. If you look at the label, it's meant to line up with the switches, upside-down.

    • @RetroCave-wr9tl
      @RetroCave-wr9tl 10 месяцев назад

That's what I thought first too, unfortunately the labels do not match the switches. Same with the power led, which is hidden under a label rather than being underneath that red line all the way on the other end. It would have been a cool look.

Well, greetings from Argentina! This is one of the very late models, straight imports, all of them. The closest consoles to «local production» were the «Edu Juegos» brand (you'll recognize those by the green label), and the «Dynacom» brand (beige box, a bit weird). We jumped straight to Famiclones after that.

Used to have a TV Boy Ii, 128 games in one, each game chosen from a start menu, just scroll each digit between 1-9, using the controller then select. One controller only, mounted on the unit, START, SELECT and return to select menu buttons only. No difficulty or color switches, no cartridge slot. Played it until it wore out, got many hours of fun out of it. Very similar game list to here. The colours on PAL machines will be different, due to the way the color was generated by the original hardware, in NTSC, the color is timed to be displayed, correctly at 60hz, PAL is in 50hz so all the colours displayed will not be the same. As you demonstrate, the unit you have is far better via the NTSC converter, a massive improvement.

    • @RetroCave-wr9tl

Thank you for your insight! Also, a menu would be more useful on these old systems as well rather than cycling through every single one of them.
