Healing Handpan Music | "Mira's Lullaby - Version 2"
A little lullaby that came to me a few weeks ago as a very dear friend of mines newborn was shown in my minds eye while playing. Although I've not yet met Mira since we now live in different areas of the country, I hope these sounds will soothe her from a distance.
*This is a revision of the first version, with what I believe are more pleasing sounds substituting the ghost notes for actual notes*

I spent the last 2 weeks roadtripping across part of the U.S. and came up with this little melody during that time. Still learning, still processing, can't put the handpan down - lol! The audio should have better quality now as I am recording with a Shure MV88 into an iPhone 15 Pro. Still haven't figured out the best methods but I will over time. I touched my first handpan at the end of May 2024 for all of 5-10min at a yoga festival in KY called MyPath. Testing ground conductivity using a copper plate, copper speaker wire and copper grounding rod at my work station to demonstrate the amount of volts flowing through the human body as well as EF signals from these tech devices. This is my first video demonstrating anything like this, so it's only shot with a handheld iPhone and built in mic. Nothing fancy

Beautiful, a blessing for little Mira.
Thank you! Her mom told me she does ☺️
Nice
Thank you 🙏🏻
I was there with you for this super special show (front row)! Thanks for uploading this. Maybe more songs will show up. Peace, my brother!
I have a few snippets of others, but these two were the only full songs I captured. Def wanted to experience it more than record all of it. Nice to have a few memories for myself and to share with others. Were you at the early or late showing? Peace!
@@lubbersdan I was at both! I sat in the front row for both shows, pretty much dead center but slightly to the right and had on my black cap with Jazz on the front.
@@lubbersdan Just wanted to check in with you about something. I did the Taper Audio thing for this show just using my phone. I had a friend save the radio broadcast as well. The radio broadcast sounded a little "thin" and didn't pick up the warmth of the room so much. My phone did a decent job on that end. I was thinking about doing a Matrix mix of both audios and wanted to know if it would be ok with you to include your 11:13 minute video at the beginning. I'll keep it Unlisted since Will hasn't released his new album yet (a few songs from it were featured during the show). But I'll probably include it in the Playlist. It won't show up on a search that way. If you had rather me not, I won't include your video. Just let me know. I'm going to fill in the rest with pictures of the stage I took before his second set started.
Well played 😁 I’m thinking of doing a Halloween themed short as well
Do it!!! 😂
@ I went for it! a little over edited and goofy but was fun to make 😁 Happy Halloween! 🎃
@@WakingLight Sweet! Just checked it out. Goofy and fun is what Halloween and "life" is all about. Happy Halloween!

So beautiful and soothing! I could listen to this all day
Thank you! I'll definitely be refining this one and making more ☺
Stop being nervous let go Dan and find yourself ...close your eyes and free style..
I'll get there in time. I don't have the muscle memory and second nature built up yet. It's also easier to "flow" when I know I'm not recording 🤣
Wow the results of practice are shown here... buddy you found your instrument.. great work
Thank you very much! I'll be assisting in some sound baths/journeys soon at my local yoga studio and plan to keep on going with it 😁
Beautifully played 😁

I have no idea how this was recommended to me but it's an absolute banger.
I have no clue either. I don't know how these algorithms work. I just upload some of my recordings and people either see them or they don't 🤣Thanks for saying it's a banger! Just started this journey at the end of July and I definitely don't plan on stopping 😁

Wouldn’t this cause ground loop? You would want to plug the copper plate into the ground on your outlet since the house is already grounded

I literally just purchased my handpan last Saturday and am so excited to get it, but I live in Mexico and it’s going to be awhile for delivery. You sound great! Thanks for sharing!
@@nelsonmays116 Awesome!!! I think mine took about 3 weeks to deliver as it came from the Netherlands to the US and then going through customs. Well worth the wait. Thank you and you are going to love playing yours.
Beautiful brother! Keep it up! Another place to find inspiration, is to find other players out there playing their songs on a D kurd, and trying to learn them and the techniques they use to create all kinds of different sounds. If you have not heard Kabeção or Nadishana or Manu Delago or Davide Swarup, each of these wonderful people have much to teach and beautiful music to experience. But truly, there are so many good players out there who have so much to offer. In a way, it is much like it is with guitarists. Each player has their own techniques and writes their own unique songs on them... and there are so many good jams to be had and to be seen and felt. Welcome to the community!
Sweet! I appreciate you sharing those musical artists as I have not heard of them and will check them out. Thanks again for the inspiring words and I definitely plan to keep on playing!

Hi Dan, You play very good. I'm also play Handpan. I like you're style. greetings and supoort from Thurigia. Marco & Racoon
@@RiteraRacoonOutdoor Thank you! Isn’t the handpan such a wonderful healing instrument to play? I started taking the Malte Marten Method online course about 6 weeks ago. It’s definitely helped to accelerate my learning. Greetings back to you from the states 😁
The melody is absolutely beautiful-so calming and peaceful. It feels like it brings a sense of tranquility with every note. Truly mesmerizing!🙌🏾
Thank you so much for the kind words. I hope to continue to improve so that I may use this instrument for healing sound journeys at my local yoga studio and possibly elsewhere while on roadtrips 😁
yo bro nice panning! Just a word of advice with that B flat note - have you noticed it sounds dead/out of tune compared to the rest of the notes you're playing? Basically you need to find the sweet spot - try striking that note nearer the center and at around 3 O clock. The trick is to accentuate the 5th harmonic and not the octave. Without geeking out too much - It's a common issue with D Kurd (called an echo impedance) where the note naturally sounds weaker/out of tune due to the air resonance within the instrument. It may also help to put a cloth inside the handpan to help absorb the unwanted frequencies. Good luck on your journey, my friend 🙏
Thank you! Obviously super new to all of it. I appreciate the recommendation on trying to find the sweet spot on the B flat. I'll have to look a bit more into the differences between the 5th harmonic and octave as well as echo impedance. This will be a good question to dive into with one of the instructors with the MMM online course. I don't come from that much of an extensive musical background. Had no idea it was a common issue on the D Kurd's. Funny you mention the cloth because I keep a microfibre cloth in the Gu when I'm not playing it and wipe it down after every session. Once again, appreciate you watching and taking the time to assist me along my journey with the pan 🙏🏻
Whoa! That’s insane. Thanks for sharing. 8v just touching a mouse. Thank you for sharing your experience and journey. Can you use the ground of the outlets instead of adding a new ground like you did?
You absolutely can. If you have to check to see if the ground is actually grounded with either a voltmeter or a device that plugs in and the lights tell you if it's grounded or not. I use this method when I travel and stay in hotels. From my research connecting to the outlet ground and not directly to the earth can give you a somewhat "dirty" signal by going through the electrical system of home, apt, hotel, etc, so for long term I chose to do a separate copper rod directly into the earth and run it through the window. Sleeping grounding this way has drastically helped with my recovery, muscles aches, etc. Sleeping grounding also helps negate effects from dirty electricity or, EF, EMF and RF signals around you.
I’ve been feeling called to get a handpan, they have such a magical quality and sound. Love the video. 🧡
If you're able to, I highly suggest it. It's very introspective and meditative to play. Really puts yourself in a flow state. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch/listen and comment ❤
You fill the work with beautiful sounds brother! Keep at it and sharing. Thank you.
I very much appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment brother! I felt very called to get a handpan and can't put it down in my spare time. I can't wait to see how I progress through the weeks, months and years.

The beginning is not but the main content after it is from the Malte Marten Method online course which is explained in the video description.
Much more fluid and relaxed flow... bravo I see much progress fellow handpan friend... amazing .
Thank you 🙏🏻
Good job Sir! I will buy my first handpan this Friday 20th September…hope i will be at your level in only 8 weeks too, amazing sound!
Awesome and congrats!!! I'm sure once you start playing it will be hard to put down and you'll be there in no time. It's very relaxing and meditative to play. Thank you!
What do these cost for a budget beginner? I want in the Handpan club.
I can not answer that question as I did not research budget handpans when I was looking at getting one from 3-5 different companies. The ones I looked at ranged from $1500-$3000. Add in shipping, protective case, taxes, customs fees, etc if you purchase one from a company that is not in your country. The one I am playing is handmade in the Netherlands by @ayasainstruments
I agree. I don’t know about putting them on RUclips, but watching yourself is a great way to improve! Cheers and safe travels🙏🏻
@@hollynicholson8983 recording yourself is definitely a good way to improve and also look back to see where you were. It also creates that nervousness that you “have to perform” even though no one may ever see it, but allows you to work through the nervousness.

That’s so awesome! I know the feeling. It’s very hard to put down. I’m roadtripping at the moment and I’ve been getting brief times to play in hotels or next to my vehicle. I’m happy you have a handpan and love playing it as well. It’s so peaceful and meditative.

@@stacieseymour5926 Thank you! I’ve probably played it a minimum of 30min daily since I got it. Can’t put it down. I’m traveling and I played out in the desert in Utah today so that was a first and amazing. Didn’t have any recording equipment with me though. Just a still photo. You should def look into getting one. They are so meditative and therapeutic to play 😁
You are so welcome.. I 5:18 am so hooked on listening to the pandrum and how it makes me feel on the inside..It's amazing how well you play this early into your journey...I do have a question, can you feel the vibration as you play??? I feel like just having it that close to the body would feel uplifting as well as healing...Lord willing I will get me one very soon....
I can't say that the vibration is something I have noticed on a conscious level, but I believe in energy, frequency and vibration for healing so just because I haven't been consciously aware of it that doesn't mean my body and soul isn't picking it up subconsciously. I will now be aware of when I pick it up later to play and see how my perception of that shifts.
@lubbersdan I as well believe in lots of spiritual experiences.. I feel it through my cheap speaker and my skin tingles as I meditate and absorb every note... this drum lifts me just when I hear it over the air , can't wait to have one... I live in the woods away from people and society, I love it.. however I have had experiences w woodland creatures coming to my porch just playing the pandrum over my speakers.. I'm amazed daily by this instrument and every person who decides they want to play one...
Nice for this time in 8 weeks 👍good job 😉 keep it up
@@jamelion9 Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to watch and commenting words of encouragement 😁
Very Nice! Do u have any tips for gettinginto the instrument. Loving the sound but its very expensive..
@@maartenmateusen8057 Unfortunately, I don’t know of any tips. When I became interested in looking to purchase one it was recommended to me to look up a few or more companies and choose based on how it sounds to your ears. I kept going back to Ayasa. They are handmade in the Netherlands. It was expensive, but I absolutely love it! Don’t regret it at all.
Another question. I bought the same multimeter you are using. But I am unable to have a rod on the ground like you do. How would I plug the black connector to the ground on the outlet? It does not fit. How do people do it? Thanks!
Thanks, Dan. Very helpful. Where did you buy the silver fabric?
Thank you! A company called "Amradield". They sell in precut sheets or bulk.I specifically got the "Silver fiber fabric stretch knitting". Hope that helps!
Thank you!
Great explanation, thankvyou, Dan. Did you make any progress with your own sleeping version?
Thank you! Yes, I have upgrade all the cables in this video as well as using copper alligator clips for connection instead of electrical tape ( which was just a testing solution at the time ). I've been sleeping on silver fabric for maybe 2 months now and that's where I've noticed the most benefit. I've since used the same setup and have both of my parents sleeping grounded as well. I've been very busy and was traveling for the last 2 weeks ( also sleeping grounded in hotels, testing their outlets and connecting to them ) and am leaving town again this week for another week. I hope to make an updated video in the somewhat near future showing the changes, so check back in 3-5 weeks.
I uploaded the updated video earlier today if you want to check it out.
Would the copper plate work if it wasn't hooked up to the copper outside?
It would not. The minute it's disconnected from the copper rod outside, the plate is no longer "grounded" to the earth. It must be connected to be grounded. It's the same principle the grounding prong on 3 prong outlets. I hope that answers your question if I understood it correctly.
Great video! Thank you! What is the EF when you hold your EMF detector close to the copper plate?
If the powerstrip is plugged in, the EF reading is around 50, but to my understanding since the copper plate is grounded to the copper rod outside in the earth it negates the harmful effects. If the powerstrip is unplugged ( which is most of the time I'm working - I charge when I eat or take breaks ), the EF reading is in the single digits.
Lovely
