I gotta tell you, I am no Braves fan but Manager Bobby Cox made some really dumb moves. Lifting Sanders, the best player in the game by far that day, both hitting and fielding for Gant (who did NOT hit and did screw up fielding and costing the Braves a run) was ridiculous. This was the first time in nearly 40 years that I watched every World Series game of the '85 Series. Thank you Stephen Baseball Archives. The Cardinals' loss was a haunting moment in my childhood, but that Series taught me how to appreciate baseball more. When Darryl Motley hit that home run, I immediately ran to my mother's room crying because the Cardinals were losing. My mom was unsympathetic. She told me the Cardinals can't be winning all of the time, so I needed to buckle down and accept it. I later went back to the living room and watched the rest of the game -- which included the explosion from Andujar and Herzog -- with dignity. Thank you mom, RIP.

One of the most epic Fall Classics ever played. I was born a few years later, but I still get chills watching this. How the Dbacks came back from the dead with the bottom of the order against a Yankees team that had won the last three World Series, playing with heavy hearts and all of NYC, with the greatest closer in MLB history, we may never know. I’d love to know what Bob Brenly told his team before the bottom of the ninth, must’ve made them wanna run through a wall. Absolutely heart stopping and thrilling World Series that singlehandedly proves baseball is not rigged. Also, on a side note, my parents were at the game featured at 6:24. They were sitting near the end zone where the Hail Mary and walkoff pick six occurred

Don Denkinger did not blow that World Series for the Cardinals. Even though he made the wrong call at first, a lot of people don't remember that Jorge Orta was later forced out at third, so he didn't score the tying or winning run. So Denkinger's call was moot, in my opinion. All the Cardinals needed to do was to shake things off and get two stinking outs to win a title. They didn't do that. It was heartbreaking for a 10 year old Cardinal fan like me to watch.

Speaking as a Cardinals fan who was 10 years old that night, letting Bob Forsch pitch in game 5 was more painful than that so-called blown call in Game 6. He was so ineffective. They should have pitched Danny Cox. The Cardinals had a chance to wrap it up at home that night, but they didn't. Had they won, there wouldn't be any Game 6.
