The problem for me is that i think most of the time there is not enough repetition in this method. Perhaps the videos I should use have to be more specific but as an example tv shows and movies have a lot of complexity, and at least for me, there is not enough repetition. However, I am currently in intermediate level so I think this method is better for when you are past the basics. Or do you watch the same videos over again or how do you review the notes in general? Or do you not set a timeframe or goals? Currently, i want to set more goals and learn faster, because i have not really focused on getting better at a certain time range, but now i think i need to in order to use the language in a few years in more complex settings (work).

I am a native Mandarin speaker and I have learned English and Japanese, now I am learning German and plan to learn Korean in the future. I found German very difficult and different from asian languages or even English, and I also encountered the problem about the age, and am stressed about my german learning progress. Your videos are very comforting and helpful to me. I also like to watch TV series to learn, but I was confused about how to deal with the tons of scripts, and your tips are really informative to me. Your examples in Mandarin are interesting to me, and your writing is beautiful. Looking forward to seeing your progress in Mandarin and more of your videos in the new year.

I learnt English watching RUclips video and every time I would hear a new word I would look up for the translation and picked up the language pretty quickly. I’m learning Chinese now. Your video is very helpful thank you

我的媽啊，他居然是學繁體，通常大家喜歡學簡體，因為筆畫少，體量大，但只要學會繁體，簡體字那可說是手到擒來、降維打擊，不費吹灰之力，真的很聰明，所以我決定開始用這位哥的建議來學外語！

I love this method, thanks! Are there any recommendations on where to watch Taiwanese Mandarin shows? It oftentimes seems to be simplefied Chinese and I don't know where to find shows where they speak authentic Taiwanese Mandarin😢

Nice! And very helpful. I'm learning Japanese and I come across sentences or words while watching shows, but I don't write anything down, or very rarely. What do you do with all these notes once you've finished working on them? Do you have like a binder with categories, or some other system? I'll definitely watch your other videos.

I wonder when I can create a second brain in Japanese. I’ve been studying vocab in Anki ordered in I+1. And grammar using sentences with all known vocab. Gonna hit 2000 highest frequency words soon

Great tips! I am using Netflix and RUclips for my English learning. From my pov, it’s easy to jot down and understand the phrase but the thing is I can’t get it out when I need it. Any tips

This is my approach to acquiring a language as well. By observing native speakers speak, and taking notes, making it a point to understand every single thing they say, not obsessing with textbook rules, etc. Natural observation is the only way for me, as compared to mainstream's unnatural way such as flashcards, analysing grammar on its own without context, learning from a non - native speaker, learning theories, etc. I believe the system/people makes language acquisition/learning more complicated than it actually is.

Nate, how long did it took you to master the Chinese and Korean "alphabets" respectively? How doable is it for someone whose native language uses romanised alphabets?

I'm studying Chinese and Japanese now, I should try doing my notes side to side like this.

i do the same, i watch those old korean movies to pick up korean words, it works but it is a long way of learning language and requires patience, and if you are someone who wants to get to speaking the language quickly, then this is not necessarily the best method, you will benifit much more from picking up daily words first and memorize them as opposed to immersing yourself in the content of the language you are trying to learn, if you try the hardcore immersion method of learning a language, you will hit the wall of certain letters sounding different depending upon their placement in the sentence or their place in the syllable or even the context, so i would recommend doing atlest some formal study as well in combination with the immersion method of learning
