    I don't see this one on Top 10 lists, so I am happy to see it here! Cheers! Moonflower- Santana has been a Top 10 for me since I first bought upon release in the 70's. I like that has a mix on each side of studio cuts and live versions that are better than the originals, especially the guitar solos on "Dance Sister Dance", "Europa" and "Let the Children Play"

    I m no AFX expert but ..i ve heard most LPs and my top 3 are : Selected Ambient vol.1, Caustic Window , 26 Remixes for Cash. Anyone ?

    Was into AFX from the inception. I went to Sheffield University in the early 1990s and WARP records in Sheffield was the seminal birth of UK electronica. The list is too long to mention but AFX was one of Warp's pioneer artists (along with The Black Dog and Autechre.) I remember listening to this album a lot in 1993 when I had come in from a night out at 3.00 a.m. and made some pasta and tuna in my student halls. I remember those nights every time I play this record. For me, though other electronic artist have eclipsed AFX for more varied and interesting output, mainly The Future Sound of London and Plaid. I have also met RDJ. He was at a house party once in Sheffield in late 1992. I chatted to him briefly. He mentioned about his dog chewing up some cassette tape recordings and how he tried to put them back together. He was pretty shy and aloof. My favourite RDJ album is I Care Because You Do as it has some beautiful tunes on it. Green Calx on Selected 85-92 ruins the album for me, it's annoying and it has even been recorded deliberately louder. Often it would wake me up after drifting off to sleep. If anyone needs any recommendations to get into electronica, I have pretty much everything decent that's been recorded, so reply if interested to learn more.

      Great info man. I thought thats why perhaps he bolted out of the record shop that time when I recognised him and beamed at him. Shy or on a trip at the time who knows haha

      @@SimonMackUK77 Thanks for your reply. It's rare to find like-minded people in everyday life these days, especially when you leave confluent places like University well behind and get into your 50s. I am also originally from Merseyside albeit the far east (a town called Newton-Le-Willows,) but have a Lancashire/Cheshire accent. Some other electronica artists I would recommend are; B12, LFO, Two Lone Swordsmen, Sabres of Paradise, Autechre, Boards of Canada, Ultramarine, (had their first album on copied cassette for years,) System 7, Plastikman, Ott, etc etc. All REALLY worth getting their albums. Loads more I've forgotten.

    • @blackporscheroadster-yw8hb
      @blackporscheroadster-yw8hb 12 дней назад

      @@SimonMackUK77 One of the great pioneers of electronica was Andy Weatherall who sadly passed away 3-4 years back. I saw him at The Palais nightclub on London Road Sheffield in 1993 (later renamed The Music Factory) and you could tell he was class. He went on to form two great bands namely The Sabres of Paradise (Haunted Dancehall is one of my favourite ever albums) and Two Lone Swordsman and released great albums as both. Well worth checking out. You will know the tune Smokebelch II, as it was used on a TV advert just a few years ago.

    I'm 50, i grew up with cassette tape, but when i got my hand on my first Cd, i never looking back. Cassette won't last long. I have a few times on vinyls and never like it at all; never like the hissing sound, it's annoying, it's boring. People today collect them like it's a toy. Cd sounds so much better, and that's all that matter to me, especially the target cd from w germany and the 80's japanese pressing. Cd vs vinyls? Cd won by a thousand miles.

    Interesting timing running across this. I have gone overboard and failed for sure. And now have really been trying to be more critical on what I do buy and add. Jut last weekend, I hit the "low hanging fruit" - and pulled out a box of 100 records that were simply stuff I had acquired. I took them to my local 2nd hand resale store, and they gave me $260 of store credit for them. So, a cleared a little out. Next would be to actually sell some of the other stuff that I can do without. I do not ever see myself getting to 200, but I am pretty sure I could almost chop my collection in half. I am somewhat of a completest, so have 50 of one artist is a thing. Intriguing thoughts for sure.

    CD sales in the US and UK are reportedly on the rise in the last two years according to Industry figures. Streaming remains at approximately 80 PCT of all music consumption as sales ,with vinyl sales at number three. Yes most of us certainly in the Vinyl Community love the hands on feel ,sound etc etc of records, but ..the cd format introduced in 1985 continues:( I sold the players at its launch but that's another story) and remains a very good quality affordable music format. It s just not very "sexy" when compared to vinyl ... Discuss :

    So glad you mentioned Come Taste The Band which, to this day, remains my favourite D.P. album.
