How To Build A Custom 4Runner Grille // DIY Car Grille
I am a Vietnam Era Vet and repaired my first vehicle in 1968. Thus, this is not my first rodeo. One of my two 3rd Gen 4Runners with over 200k miles had an idle issue and was sluggish on take off. After code readings, compression checks and even smoke test, all numerous times, still no good diagnosis could result in a fix. Swapping nearly all applicable sensors did nothing to fix it. Finally today, I changed out the intake (and plenum) manifold gaskets. Bingo!!!!! We have a winner.
Mine goes down but won’t go up
Should I purchase an oem online or is it ok to get one from o reilly
Thank you bro I been trying this on and off for like 6 months and the trick with helping out the actuator with your other hands worked! And thank for telling me not to be discouraged cuz I was 😅but I kept trying and it worked!
Will this work on a 1998?
Appreciate Cha Bro
Dude HOW do you disconnect the alarm switch wires
Your video- can’t thank you enough. Even though I could see no visible damage just the manipulation of the wiring in that spot got my window working. Thanks again!
How do you get the unlock chime on the 4Runner?
Thank you for the video, great job. 2 Questions for you. 1. Did you just know it was the IAC valve or pull codes with an OBD-2 reader? 2. My 2002 4Runner idles too low, and stalls. I've replaced the TPS, battery, left it off for 30 minutes, pumped the gas 3x, slowly. Started right up, jumped to 2200, then 1800, 1600, back up to 2200, then gradually down to an idle of 850. It ran fine for about 2 weeks/200 miles (no codes) then went to limp mode (after coding) again. Did the disconnect for 30, pumped the gas, let it learn, etc. Now it barely keeps an idle while in drive and stalls through turns. Any input you give will be much appreciated! Thank you.
❤❤❤
Just did this on my 98 4runner! So simple and it feels amazing now! thanks
I am confused do you need another key fob? I don’t have one
I really appreciate you taking the time to explain this but my issue is that I purchase the car in November and it's a 2010 4Runner and twice it has when idling only at a stop light it slightly vibrates for a couple of seconds and it stops is that normal
Interesting video, definitely something to check out on my 01 exploder.
You need to get a 5th gen and build a drawer system for it. Then build me one. 😊😅 Very nice build!
This didn’t work for 5:46 my 4Runner, but it DID allow me to fight Tyson on my Nintendo! 😏 Let’s go Gen-X!!!
AMAZING! I'm the original owner of a 2002 4Runner that came with two fobs. One of them was lost while hiking about 10 years ago and I was always told that if I wanted to buy a new one I wouldn't be able to program it without two other working fobs and the local stealership wanted $429 for a programmed replacement fob. You've shown that I have all that's needed to program a new fob. THANKS!
Does this fit the 2nd gen??
Did everything. Locks clicked after holding down the unlock button at the end. Went out side to try it but nothing. What should I do next?
Do you have to remove the white box attached to the cluster to reach the other green light bulb? How many green bulbs do I need to replace the ones that light up the tach and spedo? Thanks. And great video btw.
You could also hit the bracket real lightly with a hammer. Had to do that on my swap.
Have trouble with a 2001 toyota Runner 3.4 will not idel after starting cuts off 3 secens will not idel at all hep needed
I need to plug my door switch back in
Thanks for making this Vid. Finally got me off me arse to fix my burned out lamp that’s been out for years. The thought of opening the dash and potentially damaging trim had left me with dread.
That's pretty dang cool
Awesome job bro.
I did this with a new fob from Amazon and every button works except the button to lower the rear window. Odd.
I really liked the video was really awesome, i just got my 1999 4Runner came from the shop yesterday I just saw your video and it’s really good, and to do the same thing you did, thanks again.
Does anyone know if this will work with a viper alarm installed on the car ?
That made a huge difference. Thank you!
3rd gen 4runner does not prime fuel like some cars, oher than that, good video
i think ive been driving for months with my corner lights out, my turn signals work but corner lights dont turn on, gonna fix that asap, great video
Best educational video out on this subject
Wooooow!!!!! I had the same problem, and check the wires, there are bunches of them broken. 😂😂😂
Thanks a million for this helpful video. I, myself, figured out the manual unlock part of the equation about 10 years ago..... after HOURS and hours of frustration. So kudos to you for saving everybody the same agro..... Keep it up!
how do you reset IAC valve after replaced it. I disconnected negative end of battery for almost 30 mins and connected back up but my truck still running high on RPM. I also replaced TPS as well thinking that it might be bad
They aren’t Phillips screws they are JIS that’s why the screwdriver doesn’t fit quite right on them.
Thanks for your video! On my 2001 4 Runner, the "D" shift indication green light is suddenly not lit up a couple of days ago. Could I also follow your instructions to replace the "D" green light bulb? Is my light bulb the same part # as yours "90010-06034"? Thank you very much!
No way my car is at the same miles and the same bulbs went out! Ahahaha thanks dude so clutch
This tutorial is all sorts of bad/wrong/incorrect. First of all, the HID system is modular and easier to fix/repair if one of the lights go out. Did you even bother to troubleshoot to try to figure out why one of them is not working? It could be something as simple as a bad fuse. It can also be a bad bulb, or a bad ballast, bad igniter, or both if it's one that has both built in together. These parts are easy to find all day long on ebay/amazon and hella cheap. Now in 2024, both HID and LED are pretty cheap these days and about the same price. Only now when your LED projector burns out, you're gonna have to open up the headlight all over again to replace the projector because it's all integrated. With the HID, you'll just have to replace the bulb or the igniter/ballast, which you don't have to open your headlight to do so. Also, when baking headlights, putting it on a baking pan with aluminum foil is all sorts of bad. You don't want your headlight touching any sort of metal in the oven because those are the hottest parts in the oven and you risk melting your headlight housing. The safest way to bake your headlights is to place them in the oven sitting on some wood 2x4s.
what size are the flange nuts?
got the same code, how did you know that was the sensor that you need to replace? I think it has two
What kind of harness do you use ?
This saved me hours of work. My window was stuck and I just jiggled the back wiper, then it would roll up.Thank you!!
I own a 96 4Runner will it still work for my car?
My man, it was the wiper arm on mine. You saved me so much time and money. Thank you.
Why are you hitting the button like six times?
Nope
By the way I discovered the broken wire was the cause of my suddenly loss of raising and lowering the tailgate window. It’s a poor design of the wiring harness on the part of Toyota engineers/designers. Because there is very little slack in this wiring harness overtime the wire(s) simply fatigue and crack. I took my Toyota to the local Toyota dealer and pointed this out. Service department was dismissive and tried to convince me to pay them $125 dollars to diagnose and fix. I promptly left the dealer and went to local Ace Hardware and purchased a .50 cent wire splicer and problem saved myself $125. PS I don’t trust dealers anymore as repair shop is a cash cow.
