      Your profile looks really solid-great academic record, strong financial backing, and your PTE score is decent too. Visa processing can sometimes feel like a bit of a waiting game, but since you applied on the 3rd of July, you’re likely to hear back around late August or early September. It could be sooner, but sometimes it takes a bit longer depending on how busy they are and the backlog. I know the wait can be nerve-wracking, but hang in there! All the best with your visa and your exciting journey ahead at Deakin. You’ve got this! 💪🏻

    Hello, Priyanka as I was also planning to pursue master's in business analytics as well, I was curious about the skills you primarily utilize at work. For instance, in Excel and PowerBI, which feature in each of them do you use the most? I wanted to know this so that I can stress and practice more on these topics. And because I have four to five months till the start of my course, could you recommend any good courses(names) that I can do?

    • @priyanka_saluja
      @priyanka_saluja 22 дня назад

      Hi Aditya, thanks for reaching out. I particularly use excel high level formulas (you can do a udemy or courser course on high level Excel), also use xlookups etc. PowerBI is mostly building a dashboard from scratch using power query etc. So I suggest doing an in-depth advanced course on both. Having specific knowledge is very important I have realised. Also, there's never one particular feature. Its an amalgamation of pivot tables, high level formulas, (which I sometimes have to RUclips or google to understand, even till now) power query, dashboard building for which you also need to be good at visualisations and creativity. I also recently had an exact same question on my recent video and here's the reply I gave him - I would say first up, think about what parts of business analytics really get you excited. Where do you see yourself in five years? If you dream of being a senior business analyst at a great firm, beefing up your Excel and Power BI skills is a good move. May be you can try out some real-world projects on Fiverr or Upwork to get some practical experience with actual datasets. This hands-on work isn’t just great for getting better at these tools-it’ll also give you cool stuff to talk about in job interviews confidently. I use Excel and Power BI every day in my current job as a business analyst, and they are absolute game-changers so make sure you know all the formulas, power query etc. Become a master at building dashboards and everything around PowerBI. (COURSERA, UDEMY - ADVANCED EXCEL AND POWERBI Courses. Look for courses where they have taught with real life data sets and then apply those by taking up work on fiverr or upwork, literally working for free I suggest) And I would also say that don’t forget about your communication skills. They’re super important because it’s not just about the numbers-it’s about how you explain them and your data story. If you’re leaning more towards the technical side, diving into SQL, Python, and R is the way to go. They’re key for any serious data analysis and can really set you apart in tech-heavy roles. I wasn't taught these in my degree and never had interest on the technical side. One big piece of advice: make sure you enjoy what you’re doing. It’s the best way to avoid burnout and really love your work. While it’s great to have a packed resume with skills and projects from back home, a resume usually gets a quick look-over, less than 30 secs. So, your real superpower will be your ability to connect with people, network, and communicate what makes you special and unique. I have realised this after working at KPMG for almost 3 years now. Also since you have time, reflect on what you actually love to do. I suggest you both should connect too. Check out my latest video's pinned comment and may be get in touch with him. :)

      Another concern I had was regarding the job interviews: essentially, since you'll be a fresh graduate after completing your master's, what do employers expect from you and ask you? Is it mandatory that you need to have specific technical skills like Python or R and sql? Wanted to know this since I am not a big fan of coding and stuff!

    • @priyanka_saluja
      @priyanka_saluja 21 день назад

      As mentioned in my reply above, you have to decide which jobs you want to apply for - business analyst (Excel, Power BI) or technical analyst (SQL, Python, R). You dont need to know all the tools. Learn two to three tools properly, inside out and you'll be good. As a fresher, they understand and do not expect a lot from you. They give you a year to learn. Another video coming up shortly for resumes, interviews, full-time and part-time jobs which should give you a lot of perspective.

    • @priyanka_saluja
      @priyanka_saluja 29 дней назад

      Hi Radhika, thanks for reaching out. I am so glad you found it helpful. Ok so to answer your question, I would say you need to understand what do you actually want to do. Where does your interest lie? And frankly, I wish someone had told this to me when I was planning to come here. Sit with yourself and ask or write down that what is it that you actually want to do and where do you see yourself in the next 5 years? If you dream of being a senior business analyst at a great firm, and really enjoy working on Excel and Power BI and also enjoy networking and communicating, go for business analytics. And I am not entirely sure of what scope is after commerce since I did not pursue that but I do feel that commerce is a huge field. You need to narrow it down to become a master at something. Like what exactly in commerce? Its important to have a specific knowledge about something rather than having a lot of knowledge about something generic. If your interest lies in something in commerce, I recommend googling about scope of commerce in Australia and what exactly job opportunities are there after your masters. Look at indeed, seek, linkedin and check the job postings and requirements. And also think of other things that interest you the most. Teaching has a huge scope in Australia too. See what you love doing. I hope this makes sense. Happy for you to ask anything else if its unclear.

      @priyanka_saluja 13 дней назад

      Hi John, yeah thanks for sharing your thoughts. I understand where you're coming from, and I agree it's important to have these conversations. I believe India, like many places, has its challenges with overpopulation and pollution. But it's also a country filled with incredible people, rich culture, and a lot of positive change happening. Many Indians are actively working towards solving these issues, and education plays a crucial role in that journey. My goal through this channel is to empower Indian students with the knowledge and opportunities they need to make a difference, whether they choose to stay abroad or return home. Education is a key factor in driving positive change and addressing the problems we face. There are so many Indian students who come here, study, learn and go back and make a positive change. I appreciate your concern and hope we can all work together, with empathy and understanding, to create a better future for everyone.

So, your real superpower will be your ability to connect with people, network, and communicate what makes you special and unique. I have realised this after working at KPMG for almost 3 years now. Also since you have time, reflect on what you actually love to do. Are you into reading? If so, I’d love to recommend some books that could open up new ways of thinking and really sharpen your analytical edge- just say the word! Let me know what you think :)

      @@priyanka_saluja Wow! Thanks for the insightful response! I can’t thank you enough for this! Having a commerce background i would say im not into tech side of the field but i am still planning to learn the basics of programming - sql and python, baki I’ll definitely give more importance to mastering excel nd power bi. And yes, I am into reading, although it has been a while since i picked a book so would love to start with the one’s you recommend! Again, really appreciate your response!🤗

      @@022gaganjitsingh8 I wish someone had told me to think about what I actually love doing and I probably wouldn't have done business analytics. Hence my long response about your question. :) I would recommend reading some life related books, not really relating to business analytics. Since you have free time, it will be perfect to reflect on what you actually want. 1. Ikigai 2. Influence by Robert Cialdini 3. The Power of Now (could be a bit boring but it has been the most life changing book - I love it) 4. Four-Hour work week (if you plan to own a business one day) 5. The Almanack of Naval Ravikant 6. How to Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnege
