How to Plumb a Comet P40 gas softwash system.
Просмотров 18 тыс.3 года назад
In this video we go over how to plumb a Comet P40 gas softwash system with a proportioner and remote shut off setup from Midwest Washing Equipment.
What sells those pvc suction hose?
Best video by far 👍 thanks man I set mine up today
@@daniellesliejr.3753 nice, congratulations! Stay safe out there
Thank you for explaining this setup to me. By far the best video.

Prob a stupid question but what if you had a buffer tank in the middle of you 25’hose?
@@robertdelucia6305 a mean it’s a valid question. There are 2 main problems. 1) You would need the tank to feed back into the system otherwise it would just overflow. 2) The problem with feeding that buffer tank back into the system is that the buffer tank would then fill with the type of solution you are spraying. So if you are spray a chemical solution and let off the trigger, the tank then fill with a chemical solution. Well what happens when you switch to water? The system would then be adding a chemical solution back into the system when you’re trying to spray fresh water. It just makes the plumbing much more complicated and not worth the headache
If you don’t have a hole in your mounting plate then just go to any paint store and buy a 6” paint tray and slide it under to catch the oil
How’s the P40 after 3 years? Would you buy another one?
How’s the p40 pump? Are you happy with it?
@@rexshin7671 Still enjoy it very much
Hey man I’m plumbing this system up at the moment where can I reach you?
Give me a shout (941) 500-3148
You are the real MVP!
U go out of buisness? Im buying these companies up left and righr. Making a killing at it. 7 figures this year and last year. Were building a plant to build units and sale our own equipment and chemicals
Sold that business in November of 2022
Think I could get away with the original hydro mixer instead of the xl for a season? Already have the original one and it’s 3/4 plumbing. I have an udor 40 p
Tough call. More than likely will restrict the pump and might burn it up. If you’re willing to possibly burn up the pump then give it a shot. You’re better off just setting it up the right way. You should make your money back in no time
Have you had any issues with the p40?
Just normal wear and tear repairs. Nothing crazy that would stop me from recommending it. It is still a great system and probably one of the best on the market in my opinion
@@bluecollarentrepreneur3377 thank you 🙏
Bought a P40 and found it difficult to get good info out there on plumbing. Thank you so much much for the info man! This is so helpful
Glad the video helped. Enjoy your new machine
Do you have ig page.? I’m struggling with my proportioner connected to my p40. Trying to find more content
What are you struggling with? I might be able to help.
Thanks for the video! My buddy Coty from First Source told me about this video seeing how I was late to the game of setting up the Hydromixer lol. He told me to send a shout out to ya. :)
Coty is my boy
I’m about to do this same thing with my P40. Do you think I could use 1” inch hose for everything instead of 3/4”? I don’t want to cut 1” holes in my tanks if it won’t work as well but I have a ton of 1” hose on hand. Thanks for the help. Great video.
Yes you definitely could no problem
@@bluecollarentrepreneur3377 Thank you. 🍻
Great videos! Two questions please: can you provide more info on the x-jet nozzle you talk about please? And second, in your plumbing P-40 video, everything looks clean and rust-free! How do you stop SH getting on everything and creating rust? Thanks
Lookup XJET M5 DS Twist Nozzle 7-12GPM. Many suppliers sell it. As far as rust goes, just take care of your stuff. Try to fix leaks as quickly as possible and rinse the trailer thoroughly. There’s no golden ticket when working with chemicals like this. But do the best you can to keep bleach/chlorine off the trailer. Also I store my trailer inside. This helps out a ton. If you leave your stuff outside in the elements you will 100% have rust and your trailer will look twice it’s age.
Thank you!@@bluecollarentrepreneur3377
Excellent info and if you ever get tired of washing you have the ability to teach. Do you still use the comet and would you change anything from 2 years ago?
Thank you, I am glad I can help others. Yep it gets ran hard and all my buddies running them as well. With proper maintenance and care it’s been reliable. When you have employees it’s a little tricker but at the end of the day I still think it’s the best option. When I see a 12v it seems like a squirt gun
@@bluecollarentrepreneur3377 that’s funny. I agree about the 12 volt being a squirt gun.
How did you hook up your gun? Hose clamps?
@@hicksd34 crimped end with threads
Feel much better after watching this. 😅 Mine will be here in a couple of days and everyone keeps telling me I’m going to regret it because of too much chemical. I’m trying to get these jobs done quickly. Lol.
You will have no regrets. Only people that hate them is those who don’t have them. You’ll be home at 2PM they will be working till dark
@@bluecollarentrepreneur3377 Hell yeah. Thanks for the great video.
Still researching. What port size is 3 way shutoff are you using? I'm also a little confused on the crush proof hose size. Are all your crush proof hoses 3/4" or 1"
Guys are using 3/4” or 1”
Wow my man you're really good explaining everything pretty clear and understandable all you said i really enjoyed your video, thanks!!
Thank you Jose! Glad I could help
Hey man thanks for the advice, where do you buy your comet p40?
Hey man, a ton of suppliers sell them. Honestly call around and find the best price, they are all the same. I personally used North Georgia Airless and had a good experience. I prefer a Honda GX200 engine but you will find some suppliers sell it with a different engine. Pick your favorite, hook it up, and go make some money
@@bluecollarentrepreneur3377 yeah for real bud! Demand is rising im making money now with an x-jet, but I’m getting bigger houses now and it’s time to step it up become more efficient time is $
Can you possibly go over the bypass a little further. Questioning where to tee into and a possible check valve.
The bypass goes back to your proportioner. A check valve can go anywhere in between those points. I’ve seen them right on the bypass of the pump or attached right to the proportioner
@@bluecollarentrepreneur3377 What i'm looking to do is use my 12v for small groundwork jobs and backup if needed. Right now my 12v pump hose has a banjo cam lock disconnect to the outlet of the proportioner. I want to use the P40 primarily as a roof pump so I can install the same cam lock on the line feeding the P40. This way all I have to do is disconnect the 12v and connect the p40 on that proportioner output. I also have a 3 way valve after the 12v so I can either feed the hose reel, or switch to a dump hose for flushing and rinsing my trailer down if I get chems on it. My thought is to tee the P40 bypass into the hose that will feed the P40 and install a check valve before the T so there's no backfeed.
@@deanweingarth5120 well you have some other variables to consider here. The proportioner for the P40 needs a minimum of 3/4 valves, but preferably 1”. So if your current proportioner is smaller than that it won’t work. Next, I highly suggest not using a cam lock on the intake side of the P40. The death of gas diaphragm pumps is air. A cam lock could be an easy access point for air, plus every time you disconnect it you might have to deal with priming the P40, which can be a pain if you don’t do it right. My opinion, give the 12V and P40 their own proportioner and feed them to the same reel on your trailer. Just put a 3-way valve and you can select if you want to select the 12V outlet or the P40 outlet. That my personal opinion. But to be honest once you get the feel for the P40 and know how to use it, you probably won’t be touching the 12V too much
@@bluecollarentrepreneur3377 I appreciate the input. As far as prime, the cam lock would not be near the p40 pump, but rather up higher and a 3 ft away at the proportioner so not concerned about that. If I do lose prime I can use the washoff dump line to reprime with clean water. Now the size of the proportioner is a different story but I can build a new proportioner at the larger size and just swap the smaller size out. I keep all your info in mind and thank you!
so no need for a 12v pump with a gas roof pump?
Nope
Where can I buy the X-Jet in-5 twist nozzle gun ?
Many suppliers sell the X-Jet twist nozzle. I found this on Amazon www.amazon.com/X-Jet-M5DS-Twist-Soft-Nozzle/dp/B08FRNHSSN?th=1&psc=1
Couldnt you you swap out the 3/8 fitting at pump and run 5/8 so it matches hose real?
The outlet at the pump is 3/4. That’s how it was designed and I would leave it that way. Restricting the outlet size right at the pump may put some unnecessary strain on the pump
Hey matt, i am in your area and just started a pressure washing business, i have a very similar set up but i am so confused on how to plum everything up. Would you be able to assist?
Shoot me a text (941) 500-3148
Hi Matt is it possible you can send me a link where you got your gun from with the fan tip when you’re doing tile roof and shingles roofs not the soaker gun? I have the comet P 40 with the GX 200 engine. I would really appreciate it.
You can buy them at many places. It’s called a Suttner ST-510. Here is a link to one www.mpwsr.com/product-page/polypropylene-soft-wash-gun
I had the same problems, a lot of water was leaking but I bought the rings at Lowes because I couldn't find them in any store and they worked perfectly, no more problems
It would be great if you could diagram it out and have it on your website.

Does Comet offer a P40 pressure gauge adapter so we know how much psi it’s running at?
Unnecessary, just another thing to break and you’re only working with a range of about 200PSI. Don’t over complicate it
Hose reel manifold? I have a 1/2, does that work?
Yes that will work, make sure it’s a high quality stainless steal swivel.

Can a gas roof pump wash a 2 storh roof from the ground or from a small stepladder
Definitely
@@bluecollarentrepreneur3377 sweet you ever do a 2 story roof wash from the ground with it?

Hey man is there anyway i could get in Touch with you? I have a couple questions regarding the p40 thanks for the videos g helped me a lot need to keep them coming 💯
I was referring to the soft wash yellow hose what brand or company is that I’d like to buy ?
What’s the name of hose I want to buy ? Also I don’t get the bypass hose where does it go to or it’s just a closed Circle loop ?
What hose are you referring to? And yes the bypass just makes a closed loop.
@@bluecollarentrepreneur3377 why can’t you have the bypass hose dropped in the chemical tank when spraying sh . and then when you’re washing with fresh water just have it runoff the truck…
@@Ben-sv9op this would not work if you are using a chemical mixing valve system. For example let’s say you’re using a 1% solution to clean a house, which is a very light solution. If you by pass back to your chemical tank you’re going to be diluting it with a ton of water. Also the whole point of the remote valve system to switch back and forth is to make your life easier and speed up your cleaning time. If you have to walk back to the truck to switch your bypass hose then you completely defeat the entire purpose of a system like this.
@@bluecollarentrepreneur3377 Absolutely you’re correct thank you for your time and response
What size hose do you guys run this 5/8 that much of a Upgrade ?
Yes worth it on a gas system, heavier but worth it
How did you run your by pass hose? Did you run the by pass back to you SH tank? Or did you run it back to you proportioner some how? I am trying to run my systems as efficiently as possible and not wast my mix when I have to let off the trigger.
I'm wondering the same. From what I gather you tee into the supply line between the proportioner and the pump. I'd like this gentleman cto chime in and confirm. Ive also come across another guy saying to put a check valve before the tee so there's no pressure drops creating agitation between the proportioner and the tee.
Great info. Thank you for the video.
Glad it was helpful!
Hey man. My 1" flex hose with filter in my tank like to float up. How did you get yours to stay at the bottom?
On your Surfactant. Are you pumping that straight or is it deluded?
Depends On what you’re using. We use thick soap so it’s always diluted.
Thanks for posting. After some research, I spoke with Comet and they reiterated some of your points including the 1/2 hose for the discharge line and 3/4" for the distribution line. I found it interesting that there are three oil reservoirs so users should ensure all three have proper oil levels. If I were you, I would post links to the items you purchased. I've been trying to find a 3/4" 200' 600 PSI chemical tube for the past couple of days and have been having trouble. One company yesterday told me it would be about $1200. Nozzle's and appropriate fittings to ensure the full 11 GPM and a chart with an overview of what effect the distance of the hose has on the PSI and GPM would be useful also. I have one application at a large movie theater and am worried that I won't be able to reach the top of the building without using some kind of extension wand or lift and, in the past, using a lift significantly affected the water pressure when up 30 or 40 feet or more.
Tks bro
Any time
question does the bypass always shoot water in tank mine stays on even if i have gun press is this normal
If you are not using a proportioner then yes it will. Make sure you have the regulator all the way on. But yes it will by pass a little bit even when you are spraying the gun.
On a technical note, I guarantee you will also get better flow than the 90 turn at bulkheads.
Absolutely
Hi bro, the bypass 25 feet line when off the gun , does the water flow back to your buffer water supply tank?? Thanks David
If your system is set up just like the one in the video, then no it does not. It circulates back through the proportioner and then back through the pump. Your bypass hose goes back to the proportioner so it will not go back to your buffer tank.
Awesome video 😎
Very simple instructions and great video 👍 I own a Comet P 40 as well with a blend manifold system. I am getting the automatic shut off soon and this really breaks it down! Thanks for this video bro!
