So happy you took these videos, just wish you had more as i rewarch these every so often. Just looking at all the old shops that are no longer there
whos here dec 2024 … i live in miami now but lived in wolves until 2003!
that wolverhampton looks way better then he does now i remember those lifts they aren't there anymore at 2:32 i was born when this video happened Wolverhampton had alot of spirit at christmas back then now it's more deader then slient hill
And look at it now, What a dump.
I remembered riding that a few years ago, I was staying nearby in Bridgnorth near the river, after riding the Severn Valley Railway, we visited the Cliff Railway and it was a fabulous experience. Very nice video, I have been watching these since you did the Wolverhampton to Birmingham Midland Metro ride and documentary.
Sad to say its a shit hole now
My wife and I lived and worked here for over 30 years, my wife in the Magistrates Court and myself in Pendeford High school. We loved Wolverhampton and its lovely people. We have great memories.
How was it powered before electric, water?
Great video, its good to see modernity hasn't taken all of the heritage of this wonderful area.
Good times. So sad how everything has fallen.
The days before on line shopping had even been invented
I was 6 and 7 back then but still remember Wolverhampton being just like this when my Mom used to take me! Now, theres nowhere near as many shops and the town centre is nothing like that at Christmas.
It was a fun time, apart from the whole IRA/AIDs stuff
When the mander centre was the place to be on a Saturday
Immigrants killed it
wolves turned into punjab now!
Probably nostalgic to sse the old network west midlands livery
I say probably because i only recently moved here
I agree 20th century all the way 21st century down the pan we were so lucky to be in that decade to see all this it was magic ❤
Internet has killed shopping centers. sadly best memories ever 😭😭😭😭
😭😭😭what's happened it's not just here it's everywhere 😭😭
You can't blame the city it's like it all over the country blame internet shopping unfortunately it's the twentieth century and everything is sky high internet shopping is here to stay and the rise in rent for shops unless you live in London every where else is going to feel the force believe me there's worser places out there believe me Wolverhampton isn't that bad Wolverhampton is developing itself it self but slowly it's a great place 😁😁😁😁
Never see these days again, Muslims & Islam already taken over the place
Very informative and cleverly edited. Thanks for sharing.
I worked in Wolverhampton (Warstones Rd) in 1974/75. I got to know the city mainly through public transport. It was a great time in the Black Country. Greetings from the Ruhr Area, which is very similar in terms of history, social aspects and people. BYE👍👏
And still just as shit today
😎 *Promo sm*
Remember those displays, they must have been magical for children, put you in the Christmas mood. Shopping on line not for me , like to try clothes on and feel the material. 👋👍
So weird watching this knowing i was.born christmas day 1994 😂😂😂
I REMEMBER ALL THIS LIKE IT WAS YESTERDAY. THE MANDER CENTRE WAS JUST A HIVE OF ACTIVITY BACK THEN! IT'S A SHELL OF IT'S FORMER SELF NOW. GOOD MEMORIES.
shithole
Shopping centre moving displays were the best. Our local place had it every year, and I remember it being magical late 80s, early 90s. It was exciting to go shopping at Xmas back then. You could feel it.
Great stuff!
I was 1 back then
I first went see wolves from r.a.f.Lichfield in August 1956,when Billy Wright was the captain.
Brings back great memory. Was on one of the coaches that went to Plymouth to see the derek Dougan debut. Was on Plymouth Ho at 7am. Noisy on coach going down but everyone tired and slept on the long journey home. Great days and what a player peter Knowles would have become. ⚽️👋
i love watching this!
3:52 He is running like mad until 4:10
This was my childhood!
Good video but the tram line itself is a bit limited in usefulness. Because it's just a single line between Wolverhampton and Birmingham. Meaning that only maximum 10% of the 5 million odd population of the West Midlands live within a short walking distance of a stop...and the odds of their place of work or school being likewise within walking distance of another stop are very very slim indeed. So maybe only 1 percent of the population can really use it in day to day life. Compare that to continental Europe where small cities with 200,000 inhabitants or even less have fully fledged tram networks going to all parts of them, which are of practical use to most of the inhabitants, then you will understand that this is pretty useless until they expand it by building an actual network comprising other lines across all of the West Midlands, which is unlikely since this is all they've managed in a quarter century.
Happier times I think.
Thank you for uploading these videos! It's nice to see how it was before I was born ☺️ I was 1995!
What a hole Wet Bum is! 🤣🤣
It doesn’t look like the modern high fields
I have lived in Wolverhampton for fifteen years moved there in mid 1970s and left in the late 80s.I studied at the wulfren college and worked at the Hellenic restaurant (family run business) located at 31 Victoria str. Great town and lovely people.
Miss the old grounds, so much soul and character, unlike the soulless grounds of today got Wigans awful ground mixed up with a B&Q 😂😅😅😅
Oh happy Times!
Don't know the area but everywhere is diffent...missablle....there's too many people in a tiny country called great britton which was not called that for a reason. Everyone loves great britton so now it's gone down in every town I'm the UK....but I still love my country.but and there's a lot of buts...
sounds like john shuttleworth
Slightly strange to be sat in the Gunmakers and to find this video
Now it's a ghost town full of foreigners and tat shops
Its a shame how modern life has turned out for kids today, you barely get a grotto now, the choir , carol singers really adds to a feel of christmas but since we are a 'more tolerable' society we saw the 'wintervals' and 'winter festivals' replace the word 'christmas' because it offended other religions Again peoples right to be offended doesn't mean they are right in their opinions Top that off with for ever budget cuts, and lack of social lifes people have today New years eve was the night most look forwards to celebrating at xmas now people stay in due to costs, and people getting stabbed Oh cant you just feel the joy of xmas in my comment
