Anyone who follows me on Instagram will know how much I love a good kerbside find! Kerbside collection is when people leave their unwanted large items on the road for council collection. It happens yearly in Brisbane and is a great way to find free stuff. Today I share my finds from this weekend and how I transform them with a little bit of (free) paint to create a country look on a budget!

What can we change olive oil with? Because it is not cost effective and not helpful for small busineses

Hi .just wanted to ask you which colors you use for pink and green soap and how do you do it .pls reply. i mean clay or mica and how do you mix it .
@@harindervirk3810 just dissolve 1 tsp of clay or mica into a tablespoon of olive oil and then stir into the soap batter before you pour it into the moulds ☺️
@@harindervirk3810 ps for the pink I use red clay, for the green I used nettle powder, but green clay works as well.

How much water do you use to mix the caustic soda with?

Thanks for the tutorial! One question: is caustic soda actually safe for saponifying? I know it is not safe when in contact with the skin as plain material, but is it as part of a soap? I've looked for studies on this, but can't find any. Maybe you know some that you can cite. Thanks! :)
@@davidl2684 yes caustic soda is perfectly safe once saponified. If you are concerned you can buy cheap pH test strips and test the soap, which should be around 8/9.

Wouldn't this make a massive difference to the hydration level of the dough? Shouldn't you be adding some water at the same time?
@@SamLever-v2y yes it would affect the hydration but at this point the dough is so ‘sloppy’ that adding water to it only makes it worse.
Can someone help me do we need to put almost two bottles of 500 ml of olive oil as you showed in video???

Weighing water is not necessary 1g = 1ml.
This can also be really nice with homemade herb infused oils.
We put it like that on air for 4 weeks? And then we can use them? Or?
How did you find out how to make different soaps
@@alisonsinclair8975 a lot of RUclips and book research, plus trial and many errors! 😂
@riverbellcottage do you have a soap recipe book ? I've also bought melt and pour base soap can you tell me what I do with that x
@@alisonsinclair8975 melt and pour is very easy as you literally just melt it in the microwave or double boiler and add your scents then pour into moulds. I use soapmaking books by Anne Marie Faiola

@@harindervirk3810 you don’t need to adjust the water or lye. I’d add a tablespoon into the mixture and stir well before you pour into the moulds. 👍

Thx for this awesome recipe . I have tried other homemade deodorant but they only work for 4-5 hours . 😢.I will try this one as it has beeswax .
How do you do the colors
@@madarchermoto4955 I use natural colourants like coloured clays, turmeric and charcoal. Just mix in a tsp (pre mix in a tbsp of oil first so it isn’t grainy in the soap) and add in before you pour it into the moulds ☺️
I'm definitely going to do this. My mum is from rural NSW and she would make soap just like this when I was a kid but she couldn't remember exactly how to do it when I last asked her. I haven't been home in almost a decade so I'm excited to give it a go. Cheers!

How did you get that mixed color for the soaps in the thumbnail? I only get white color whenever I make
Asus believe this is safe to bathe with and you literally have poison written on the canister and you're wearing all protective gloves and everything but yet I'm supposed to take a bath with this.. WARNING DANGER..... THIS RUclipsR IS A DANGER TO YOUR BODY...LOL...
Just trying this out now, I gathered some Ganoderma mushrooms and dried them, now making a tea which will be the base for my lye solution, plan to add it to coconut, avocado, olive and pumpkin seed oil along with some coffee, will post the results, wish me luck 😊

Put me off as soon as I saw caustic soda being used.. you use gloves but then use soap on skin.. I've not made soap so this is new to me. Not sure how it works.. why do you use it plz
@@vanessamoyes6243 there is no caustic soda left in soap. It is needed to ‘saponify’ the oils. All proper soap you use started off as caustic soda and oils ☺️
How do you add a scent to it?
@@wade6346 just add some essential oil once the soap has come to trace (before you pour into your mould). I’d recommend approx 8g for this recipe.

I dont use any soap. Just mix an egg with olive oil . Even better? Use warm water

Foolish question. But this soap is any use soap? Like it could be body wash or hand wash? Also if adding scents and or other ingredients do you cut back on any of the oil or soda?

What do you need for fragrance?? Essential oil? Isit good for skin??
Can I use coconut oil instead of olive oil? I have to hot the oil first or have to make is without hot the oil.

Love your videos. I've been making olive oil and coconut oil soap which is great but I wanted a soap that would be harder, longer lasting and a bit cheaper. I read lard can do that, this time I used olive oil, sunflower oil and lard. I used the heat of the lye solution to help melt the lard, mixed it all up, separated and added colours and scent, then poured in the mould, I noticed it had just started to set but just got away with it when I was pouring. it was semi hard after 20mins but I've no idea why, was it the lard or could I have accidentally made hot process soap ISH?
