I love White Noise, I know the “airborne toxic event” is often given as a description for the plot, but it deconstructs the plot, just like everything thing else in the book… I find the humor, the cutting honest sarcasm to be at center stage. Searing the irony, and the climax even admitting this. I think it is one of the the most insightful and funniest novels ever. It is brilliant. Mao II is a bit too serious for me, I still love it, the mystery and allure. I feel like the whole idea of a novelist being “as important” as a terrorist fell a bit flat. I know what he is going for, the idea that someone using words can be as powerful (or more) as someone using bombs. And I agree with this! Words can be more powerful.
Thanks for posting. I am subscribing because I find books as wonderful as ever.
comparing a real writer in DeLilo to King a hack cringe plagerist wtf
Sounds great !! Can’t wait to read in !! I was born in a catholic family but now I am free and happy !! ♏️💟☮️☯️🕉🔯👌✨
Apparently there’s an awful lot of people in the population who live on the rocks because I’ve never heard of this author. In fact the first time I’ve ever heard of him was today. Maybe you should learn to play nice with the other children and you might get some more subscribers.
My grandma hates it when I write notes in the books I read.
The worst aspect of buying used books in a thrift shop is finding missing pages. Oh the terror !!!!
I need to get around to reading "White Noise". "White Noise" was recommended to me thanks to an English teacher during my junior year of high school, along with "The Beach" by Alex Garland and "From A Buick 8" by Stephen King. I have "Libra" but other than that I'm reading "Infinite Jest" and "Authority" (that's book two) of the Southern Reach Trilogy.
"Fight Club" was o.k. but I'm probably speaking false doctrine, lol.
Guilty 🙋🏾♀️ I'm an active reader. Is it really reading if you don't mark the book? lol! Well-edited video. Thanks for sharing.
I like to underline words i dont know or pretty passages with a pencil. Sometimes ill write little reactions but I rarely write long notes or highlight things. I never really feel compelled to do that kind of analysis or synthesis but if i do, i write it somewhere else. I love collecting bookmarks that's the a big reason for me to use em. Nothin wrong with dogmarkin tho :)
Loved this, I read this book because of an "architecture in fiction" class, so if you ever reread this book-- take a focus at the purpose of architecture and space in this book.
Don DeLillo is so great! His best book is "Cosmopolis" in my opinion.
Great video! I appreciate the editing lol. Just finished the book, it made me audibly say "what the fuck" at 2 am. I thought about it more as a direct allegory for American politics (haha a much more literal interpretation) than a left/right brain thing, i haven't really given myself time to fully digest it though. The first Whitehead book ive read, can't wait to read more! Again, nice video :)
