TT Artisan is a manufacturer based out of China that has elevated the 3rd party lens market for mirrorless cameras. They offer a wide range of M mount lenses with creative and novel designs, and they now enter the fray of Apochromatic-corrected lenses with their M-APO 35mm f/2 Asph lens. This is a low cost, high performance optic whose primary compromise is size. Rendering is impressive for a w...

    I have Leica apo 35 and 50mm . I bought voigtlander apo 35 and 50, after watching reviews , thinking that they can replace Leicas , to safe a lot of money. Fully regretted , big in size , nothing to compare with Leica. I sold both Voigtlander lost 40 pct of the value.

      so you saying spending 16000 on a set of Leicas apos is better v 2000? come on man, thats absurd to say. the performance is equally the same, size is bigger yes, but i sure can live with that and save 14000$ you WILL NOT get the APO performance from any lens other than the Lanther ones v Leica ones. period

    Thanks. I am trying to learn about 39mm vs LTM mount as now have a Russian RF 35mm with 50mm, a NICCA 3 with 50mm Niccor & 135mm Steinhall and a Leica M-3 with 35, 50 & 135mm bayonet Leitz lenses. I read that they are not all the same thread mount & hope to avoid damage.

    Wonderful review ! As you pointed it out -- it is really a lens which is meant to be used for quite purposes and situations and I think it holds up amazingly for portraits indeed. Maybe just better than some of the 1.4 or even 1.2 options on the market. I suppose it will be very natural looking in portrait sessions , without any distortion !!

    Funny. APO should improve color but this looks like any other voigtländer lens color wise. They have a unique look to them and this one has it, too. Sharpness might be among the best but I would get the Leica lens instead. Alsomfunny that reviewers always praise the build quality but they have new lenses in hand. A reasonable review would be after 10 years or so. Then you can really judge if build is good or not so good. 10 years is nothing for a Leica lens but I have seen lots of voigtländer lenses that became loose after 5 or 6 years of usage.

    Between the 50mm and the 35mm APO, I think the 35mm gets the closest to the Leica 35mm APO, however I think that from 7 different 50mm lenses, the Voigtländer 50mm is on my top 2 of all time.

  • @carlosmcse
    @carlosmcse Год назад

    It’s certainly the sharpest and nicest in terms of IQ 50mm from Voigtlander. But it’s not the “best”. That’s for each person to decide what best for them. I got rid of this one for the Summicron. I would argue it’s the 50mm Summicron Mandler lenses that are the “best” 50mm ever made for Leica. The APO from Leica is ridiculously priced to even be considered for me. And probably most regular people.

    • @carlosmcse
      @carlosmcse Месяц назад

      @@rutayanx My argument isn’t rejected by my own words. I acknowledged that 'best' is subjective, and I explained what I personally prefer-the Summicron Mandler lenses. Just because 'best' is subjective doesn’t mean I can’t have a personal preference or argue for it. The point is that while I find the Summicron to be the best for me, I also understand that someone else might have a different view. That doesn't invalidate my argument-it's simply about perspective.

    Hi Ashwin, thank you for the review. However, since you said you had previously used the Leica Noctilux, it seems to me you left out a comparison of the rendering of this lens with the Nocti, specifically sharpness where focused and the bokeh. How does the out of focus blur on this CV 50/1 compare with the Nocti? TIA

  • @royprasad

    Thank you for the detailed review, Ashwin. If money were no objective, strictly based on image quality, how would you rank order the Leica 28/1.4 Summilux, 28/2 Summicron and this Voigtlander 28/2 Ultron II for their optical performance? TIA...

    Nice to meet you, suika.d! I will be using this lens for portraits of people and dogs. This lens produces a wonderful bokeh effect, which makes the subject stand out beautifully! My cameras are the Leica typ262 and M3. The Leica typ262 does not support Visoflex, and for the M3, I need to ensure that I focus precisely within the viewfinder, so I am a bit concerned about purchasing this lens. However, since I can control the shutter speed with an ND filter, I am not too worried about that aspect. When considering using this lens with a Leica M, although it is a large lens, would you recommend it overall for its focusing, handling, and color?

    Thanks for this review Ashwin. I am enjoying shooting this on a good old M246 Monochrom. In fact I'm loving the results so much that I want to adapt it to my Nikon Z cameras. What's your take on adapting M mount lenses to mirrorless systems? In some of the stuff I read online, people mention the filter stack of mirrorless cameras affect optical performance, but the retailer assures me that optically there should be no difference? Not sure which is more accurate, it'd be great if you could weigh in.

    Thanks for this review, Ashwin! Is the lens flattering for portraits? Meaning I want it rendering details but won't overly highlight imperfections / blemishes. Does the focus falloff create a nice atmosphere for portraits. Choosing between this and the 50 Nokton 1.2 ASPH. Thanks again!

    • @chesslover8829

      You might want to look at the RUclips reviews by MrLeica (aka Matt Osborne). He covers the Voigtländer APO-Lanthar 50mm f/2 and the Voigtländer Nokton 50mm f/1.2. I would say the Nokton might be more to your liking. Between f/1.2 and f/2, the Nokton gives a more dreamy and less clinical look compared to the APO-Lanthar. At f/4 and beyond, the Nokton is very sharp and is nearly indistinguishable from the APO-Lanthar, so you get two lenses in one with the Nokton. Wide open, the Nokton does exhibit a small amount of lateral chromatic aberration in high-contrast, back-lit scenes, which can be easily corrected in post processing. Note that the Nokton's bokeh is softer and more dreamy than what the APO-Lanthar can produce. The APO-Lanthar should appeal to anyone who wants a sharp, highly corrected color lens at f/2.

    Thank you Ashwin for this great review ! 👍 I also checked your 35mm APO Lanthar video, and I am struggling to decide between this one and the 28mm Ultron ii. You mentioned that the image quality of the 28 is close to the 35 APO. Could you precise how close it is ? Do you see a real difference or not ? I ask because I am currently using a M11, and I would like to have the lens to manage the 60MP of the sensor. I know the 35 APO will be, but what about the 28 ? Also, do you find any difference in terms of character, colors and contrasts between the two ? Would you say than one or the other is closer than the famous « Leica look and 3D rendition » ? Thanks a lot if you take the time to answer and keep up the great work ! Good luck for your channel 😉👌
