Thank you for your tips
Awesome. Thanks for sharing
great video! I would really like to do this in 2025!
Thankyou. I"m brand new to this effort. Was a major marathon racer and adventure racer. This is my first 200+ mi race. BIG DIFF! I have a LOT to learn. My feet are super clammy so I'm really going to have a hard effort. Working to learn now!! Thank you for this video!
Running my first 200 next week! #bigfoot200
I’m in. Start planning!!!
Tony, what running vest is this? Looks much bigger than an adv12
This was fantastic! Thank you! I like leuko tape but I put a little pad of tape between the tape and my skin so it doesnt rip the skin off. Thoughts on small pads between the skin and the tape?
Glad you found it useful 🙂
Very useful and interesting… thank you!
What was the change that brought your course time down to 80 hours? Training? Diet? Things just aligned?
Informative and very helpful. Thank you for this!
Great detailed information. Much appreciated.
Thank you so much, perfect for my first time crewing a friend on his 100 miler.
Great interview! I enjoyed the DNF discussion. Jason is an amazing runner and a great guy.
November 3rd is my dad's b day

Brandon is the hero of this video 😄
Brandon is always a hero 😉
Awesome video. Thanks for doing this. What are the brands of tape used in the video?
review from the 33 min mark. Brands mentioned and reviewed.
Make it YOUR day! Everyday! ❤
Tony, this was awesome. You had me after watching Moab 21 and 22, now this! Keep going and good luck on the triple crown.
Wow! Big question, who is Mike and where is his training schedule!? "anyway..."
Mike McKnight, also known as the low carb runner. He will be running the Cocodona 250 on May 1st, 2023. You should be able to catch him on their live coverage of the race. Anyway, gotta run 😉
@@cultrunners Cool! I have been dreaming to do ultras. Just watched your Moab videos, Kerry Wards videos and just watched Mike's FKT in Colorado. I have also done Rim to Rim to Rim. Your videos have pushed me to start training! Thank you! I live in AZ and will try to drive up to cheer on the runners and maybe see the incredible Mike.
If you do come out make sure to find me and say hi!
@@cultrunners Congrats to Mike's Cocodona250 win! Congrats to the cultrunners team! Unbelievable! So cool to watch it all go down with live feeds by the @Aravaipa folks.
Your a stain !
What’s a stain 🤷🏻♂️🤣
Gorgeus!! Congrats and thankyou for this talk!! Really really inspiring!
Thank you for watching, and I’m glad you enjoyed it! - Tony
Good stuff.
Thanks Brian 🙂
I’m still Amazed at what that 360 camera can do.
It is pretty amazing and the app for editing is really easy to use too!
Did a Rim to Rim couple years ago. Had a blast but run into some bad weather. Was in the 60s around Phantom Ranch and started sleeting around 4-5 miles from top on Bright Angel between Plateau and Indian Garden. Then the snow began to fall and wind kicked up. Luckily we all packed rain gear and jackets
Incredible effort in both the ultra and capturing the whole experience, wow 👏
Thank you 🙂
Great work Tony and great analysis as well.
Thank you 🙂
One of the best videos I've seen on this topic. I really enjoyed myself. It's great that it takes two and a half hours 😃👍
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it 🙂
A little dramatic on the vomiting.
We agree 🤣
Amazing fantastic and honest video. Huge congrats on competing the race!
Asked all the good questions. Appreciated the questions on sleep, gear and drop bag logistics.
Fantastic accomplishment Jason. Thanks for the insight into how you did this amazing feat. You are an inspiration.
Jason crushed it, and he’s a really nice guy too!
Thank you! As a beginner ultra runner, would you please post your typical heart rate (total and percentage of max) and explain your strategy on your heart rate goals/strategy? You mentioned at 20:35 that your hr spiked to 140 causing you to slow until you resumed at hr of 131. Thanks again!
Hi James! My coach had me running mostly aerobic (rather than anaerobic) throughout the race. To get your actual aerobic ceiling you can go to a testing center but a good formula to use to find your typical aerobic ceiling is 180 minus your age. For me that would have been 180 - 52 or 128. Since I had gone to a testing facility I know mine was actually closer to 132 and so we tried to keep the heart rate at 132 and adjust pace if it spiked above 136. Running in your aerobic zone makes it easier to keep running for longer distances and for a longer time. Does this make sense?
I hope one day i can run a 200 mile run, been a dream of mine, a lot of struggles in my way, parents, money and a lot, hope i am able to do it one day
Great interview! Pretty awesome accomplishments!
Great hosting Tony!
Great video on a topic that does not get talked about too much on RUclips. I’ve been running many years, but learned so many new things. Thanks
Thanks for watching Joseph, and thanks for your positive feedback 🙂 It makes us happy that you found the information useful.
So I need baby feet! Got it ;-) Very informative video!
Smooth like baby feet but maybe a little bigger. Baby feet are pretty small 😜
Awesome run, Tony! That was an amazing performance! Thank you for including me in your acknowledgment photos at the end, could you send me that photo? ❤
Hi Wes, and Thanks! I had a great run this year and I enjoyed spending part of the trail with you. Check your email for the photo. See you in Tahoe?
@@cultrunners I won't see you in Tahoe, I'll be in Montana prepping for a thing that isn't publicly announced yet. 😉 Thank you for sending the photo! I look forward to seeing you again my friend.
Thanks, enjoyed the video. Thinking about signing up for this as my first 50M tomorrow morning when 2023 registration opens, but I’m slightly terrified.
Hey Gordon, did you sign up?
@@cultrunners I did! Now I have a lot of work to do!
Good luck! Steamboat is a wonderful town and you are going to love the course.
@@cultrunners thanks!
What a great video and fantastic effort. Well done 👍🍷….
Thank you Emlyn 🙂
Thank you for posting this. I can't believe you had the energy to film while running this. What an icredible journey! It's evident that you ran with gratitude.
Hi David! Thank you for watching 🙂 I like to record and document to be able to remember what I went through. 80 hours with just over 4 hours of sleep is a long time to try to remember things. I’m glad I had the recording so that I can relive much of the race. Cheers! 🙂
we are as fragile as cotton candy in water
Good stuff. 🙏🏼
Thank you for your positive feedback, I appreciate it! 🙂
Great presentation brother 🙌🏽 You’re a natural speaker :)
Thank you so much, I appreciate the positive feedback 🙂
What an incredible journey! Running such a long distance, it's amazing to see all the different terrain/trails/mini-ecosystems. Congrats on 9th overall! That's amazing :-)
Thanks Chad! It’s definitely an amazing race with amazing race organizers and volunteers. I say the race is like four separate races in one because of all of the different terrain and changes in environments.
Great presentation Tony. Loved it.
Thank you 🙂

Are u charging ur watch while wearing it? I was thinking about that the other day. Instead of buying a new watch, i can buy a battery backup and plug the watch in and still wear it.
Yes, exactly. That’s what I did, I charged the watch using a battery pack. What kind of watch do you have?
@Cult Runners fenix 3. Battery lasts about 16 hours on full gps mode because i used it for my Ironman, and it died 30 mins before i finished. I figured now that im running ultras and the way my watch charges is with the clamp style charger, i could charge it with a pack just like you did. I dont like the battery saving options. The course doesn't look the same on the app when im done, lol
