If ONLY you added a trackpad like Steam Controller it would be perfect!
Love what you guys are doing.
No on-screen keyboard required!
Amazing!!!!
Wow! Thats looks like the controller of my dreams :) I have played about 500 hours of gyro and ended up with a config using config with activation on the touchpad and the right stick for normal key inputs. Just like you have but yours but you have manage to change the hardwear so that its seems even better. would love to get one of these. gyro activation exactly where I wish i had it. Adding a scroll weel and making a 8 way input seems even better than having a stick on the right side. Im so impressed. The only thing I think would be nice is to split the shoulder buttons so that you would get six or four on each side. <3<3<3
I really hope theres no forced yaw movement with the gyro, bc i absolutely hate it bc im so muscle wired to rolling and tilting instead
It can be configured in the Ctrl app to use roll instead of yaw
@@inputlabs thank you, I'll be sure to get to that when I get my controller in the mail 🫡🫡
3D aim trainer support controller officially or steam input?
While you could use Steam Input with the Alpakka, it is not required, for 3D aim trainer and most other games KB&M emulation (and Xinput) is more than enough. The Alpakka can also be configured with our own app called Ctrl app, but it is completely optional.
This trainer support controller aim assist?
As far as I know, no, there is no official controller support nor aim assist in 3D Aim Trainer
Pro tip. It is better to slipt the controller in 2 parts like the controller navigation on ps3 or the vr controlers. it is easier to aim and less stressing for the wrist.
How do you ensure you apply full throttle/brake, when you don't put thumbstick perfectly vertically?
Good question, the thumbstick in this profile is configured in "radial" mode instead of "axial" (since its only using one axis), and it calculates the output depending on the distance from the center, no matter if the angle is off

any way to play with it through steam input? I would love to play ranked in cod and being seen as controller player.
Yes, the gamepad bindings can be reassigned in Steam Input as with any other controller
@@inputlabs so can i use alpakka as dualsense with native gyro support in codmw3?
@@StraszyFyFy I'm afraid not, the Alpakka emulates a XInput controller (xbox), which does not have gyro. Gyro in the Alpakka is used as mouse directly, no need for intermediate conversion.
Very cool, you could add a trackball as an option for a second analogue, it would be very sensitive and precise.
Does the tilt work for pitch also?
Yes it kinda works, but it is still not tested / polished for being used in things like flight simulators (as a XY joystick) yet
Is there any mods made for the trackpoint being swapped for a trackpad like on a steamdeck/ controller?
No, the touch sensitive surface in the Alpakka is only ON/OFF
How is his soldering so precise and neat....???
Some of it is experience. But through-hole soldering is reasonably easy.
will there be a wireless version?
Yes, we are currently working in a wireless version for the Alpakka reference design
WOw
If I understand correctly this is using digital triggers right? That should make it unsuitable for racing games where throttle and brake inputs have to be super precise. Would there be any way to hack using analogue (progressive input) triggers on to the controller? (That is, making a different trigger part compatible with the firmware?)
Yes, the current iteration is using digital triggers, which may be suboptimal for racing or flight simulators. There is certainly no simply "hack" (though I don't know exactly you had in mind). We are experimenting with dual and in the future perhaps also analog triggers, but at present our focus is on the wireless solution. So don't expect anything soon.
@@inputlabs I was thinking about a modular analog trigger implementation that could be hacked in. Thanks for clearing that up!
Wow this is such an innovative solution to the controller text input problem!
I understand wanting 100% precision but with how twitchy this is on the camera I would probably do a bit of smoothing
Yes, in other games in which aiming is more important makes sense to lower the sensitivity a bit
You should play devil may cry 5 with it
This Controller is very good and these additions would make it close to perfect : 1) Swappable modules like Thrustmaster eSwap controller . 2) Swappable sticks like Xbox elite controller . 3) Stretchable like the bsp d8/d9 telescopic controller . 4) Hall-effect triggers with trigger stop and Hall-effect joysticks. 5) 4 back Buttons/Paddel (swappable). 6) Wired/Wireless/Bluetooth all three modes . 7)Custom profile switching button.
It is DIY, you can use any stick or triggers of your choice.
@@_livekraft oh nice thank you for the info .
How do you move the camera is that I didn't understand the tutorial much
By rotating the controller while the finger is touching the hexagon on the right part
If I may ask what is the input delay on this controller?
We are still working in the wireless version, the input delay of the wired version is negligible because is just USB
Oh shit ur actually kinda nice. I thought u were gonna be slow and all over the place but ur really showing off. Someone needs to get a 20 kill game on apex legends with this thing
Do you need a PC or laptop to run the controller? I just need it for mobile gaming.
Some people use it in Android, but we only officially test the controllers in Windows and Linux/SteamDeck
Vai ter algum pra console futuramente?
Why are the front buttons at 2:45 look different? Do they have some sort of covers?
I'm not sure what you mean. 2:45 is still about the thumbstick, and then the directional stick. In any case, there are no covers or anything.
@@inputlabs The forward facing buttons linked on the website look small and circular but here they all look square shaped. I'm just wondering if there's anything being done to dampen the button press or add any springiness to them? I feel like a lot of the electrical switches I've tried can be quite harsh and clicky, whereas most game controller buttons have a much smaller actuation force.
This is a very cool controller, I wish you guys to be success in the future!
do you play fps game on rws 4?
Tell me, is this gamepad recognized in Steam Input?
Yes, the it is recognized as a xbox controller. Alternatively it can also be configured with our app (Ctrl app)
do you play on the table or lap?
lap, forearms resting on the upper legs
what is ur rws?
I really, REALLY need a 2.0 version of this. Just a lot more stuff cramped in it, macro buttons, dual analogs, (the mouse wheel can stay in there somewhere) smooth surface... Finding a good linux gamepad with all the bells and whistles is nearly impossible.
Hello guys, i just got my alpakka controller today, just finished building it, but the problem is that analog stick is not registering inputs in game and feels sratchy, often gets stuck when holding on max angle, what should i do? I tried reaching out trough the discord, but invitation link doesnt work anymore.
Can you try discord.com/invite/s8Yb4pfusT
@@inputlabs the invitation is expired, but everything is fine now, got help via email ^^
His controller looks insane, can you do a 180 though?
Yes, with that sensitivity (1:4) is just moving the controller 45 degrees. There are some 180s in this video, and also in the other videos.
@@inputlabs awesome, definitely going to get one of these and see how good they are.
quick question i just build my controller, but the back buttons are stuck. i have tried removing and reinstalling the back buttons several times. i cant seem to move them at all.. tommorow i am going to take the controller apart again. but how can i fisx the back buttons. everything else seems to work fine. hope someone can help me out.
it is easy to fix, but a bit too much to explain in a YT comment, please join Discord and we will help you
@@inputlabsi think i got it. i took some sandpaper to the buttons untill the fit in easier and actually pivoted. Then i had to place the pivot point just right. taak me about an hour of carefully anding and refitting. now lets test it out. Where can i find the button input to change the gyro sensitvity?
@@caleastheticdirectly in the controller inputlabs.io/alpakka/manual/tune , or in the Ctrl app settings app
Thanks this will help. i had alott of trouble witht the touch capacative phexaxon not always pausing or actiavting the gyro. atleast not consistently. i thought is was the usb connection. ia m going to tinker with a few of the settins. thanks alot.
when will usb c come
Probably as soon as the new Pico-W comes with USB-C
Which gyroscope sensors you guys using????
STMicroelectronics LSM6DSRTR (www.lcsc.com/product-detail/Attitude-Sensor-Gyroscope_span-style-background-color-ff0-STMicroelectronics-span-LSM6DSRTR_C784817.html)
can it be used for fortnite
Yes, but only on PC
@@inputlabs you should make a video of gameplay footage of Fortnite
Awesome project! Love it so much! Which tin solder do you use? And how hot is your soldering iron? Mine is horrible?!
Normal flux solder, with the iron at about 350 degree C
Is it possible to replace the filament with something cheaper? something like a touch button, for example
Community members created mods to use a screw or even aluminum foil, also it is possible to use any other button as a gyro engage instead by editing the profiles
@@inputlabs thanks, i'll think about it
in brazil is so expensive peaces to biuld a alpakka controller, but dont exist anoter controller more genious than this.
Could you upload the profile used? Would be helpful for people as a base
The profile is Alpakka's built-in "FPS Fusion" profile: inputlabs.io/alpakka/manual/profile_fps_fusion , as for the bindings in Minecraft there is almost no changes from its defaults.

What's your sensitivity? Seems so high, like 16:1 (one 360 done by the controller results in 16 turns in-game) or even higher
That's exactly what I was going to ask but was thinking more 1:8
1:4, no acceleration
@@inputlabs really? mine is set to 1:4 and I can not flick like that. You barely move the controller for a 90 degree turn.
Next logical upgrade is hall stick with zero fiction design or good re-center spring.
