✿ Artist Alley Vlog ✿ San Diego Anime Con 2024 | solid show with a great turnout
Hi everyone! I'm Erika and thank you for coming to watch my Artist Alley Vlog! Spoilers in the description 🤫
.
.
San Diego Anime Con is a newer con in the SD area but has SO much potential and promise for the future! I've done a one-day con with Silk Road Productions before (Fangaea) and enjoyed my experience, so I decided to apply for this as well. I honestly came in with low expectations because there wasn't much info out there about it yet, but I can say with confidence now that they were certainly exceeded. On the whole, it was a great experience though I do have some suggestions for minor improvements. I seriously hope to see this con expand and grow in the future!

Hi everyone! I'm Erika and thank you for coming to watch my Artist Alley Vlog! Spoilers in the description 🤫 . . DreamHack this year fell short for many artists. There are lots of factors that can affect an event turnout, but there were some questionable experiences unrelated to actual money-making opportunities. I was there!! I'm the one who was giggling about your Costco Hotdog Sticker!! LMAO I love your art and glad your youtube came up on my page!!!
omg YAY! Thank you so much for stopping by and enjoying the sticker hehe <3
Thanks for popping in! I was one of the staffers running the 18+ room nearby, shoot I wish I had more time to buy some of your merch!
Aww, it was so much fun! Thanks for being part of making the con great!
When will the eevee evolution microfiber cloth be posted on the online store? I want to buy it with other items at the same time <3
My next shop update! Probably January 2025 😊
Pikalin vlog!!!! super exciting
Just a chill lil vlog
is that rakiraki ramen, it is sooo good
i was there! i miss it so much tbh. i loved your booth! it was so cute! ☺️🫶🏻
@@linakay28 thank you so much! I appreciate your support ❤️❤️
How did San Diego anime con went , what’s your favorite highlights from this show
@@marcusice5400 for me, it was the people that I got to interact with! Super fun times
@ Awwh that’s awesome to hear that’s what makes conventions so great because everyone is really nice and kind
Yeah damn, ive never been to this one, but im a local to atlanta and have gone to cons here for like 10 years, and first off I had never HEARD of this event until seeing a artist vlog about it. Because in atlanta the main HUGE 4 cons here are AWA, Momocon, Dragon Con, and Furry Weekend . So any cons outside of those 4 are usually kinda small or spotty attendance in my experience. Also from seeing others time at this con and footage of the event itself, it seems like alot of the actual Care and Humanity it takes to run the artist admin side of cons wasnt at Dreamhack ATL because it seems like its a big "ADS" con... Seems like alot of companies are there to get Gamer Attention cus theyre a hot market nowadays. So thats prolly why it was fun for patrons but SUCKED for already exploited artists and small vendors :/ !! Would love to see you have a better experience at the other major cons down here instead!
i also followed ur instagram page as well for even more support outside of youtube too
I love that pin there on ur shirt
Did you still have fun despite what happened
I did! My friends made the trip worth it
@@pikalinstudios thats good im so glad to hear, and nice to meet u im glad i ran across your youtube channel and i love watching artist alley vlogs just started getting into that like few days ago
I seriously can't get over that dragonite bag! I entered your giveaway!
The food and drink policy is rediculous! If they dont allow it for most likely alcohol related reasons theu should provide vendors water and food
I am disappointed to see such a negative take. I will say from my stand point as a person with allergies I didn't have any problems bringing in the food I needed when I explained the need. I was also allowed to bring in unopened water bottles.
@@AmethystMay_ hi! I’m glad you didn’t run into any issues, but that wasn’t everyone’s experience. From my perspective, vendors shouldn’t need to explain the need or feel like they have to sneak to bring in sustenance and water, and that’s only a part of my issue with the event. Not to mention that I absolutely saw people having to dump out unopened water at security. The inconsistency is also unacceptable.
New sub here! 🤗💫I hope you achieve your goals and get lots and lots of love!!!!❤🌸🌸
Thanks so much and thanks for following along on my journey!
Have you ever had your product stolen after hours at a convention? (I noticed you were hesitant to put out your stock on setup day)
Usually it only takes me half an hour to set up my stock, so I don't chance it by keeping everything out in the open. I also put things up and wrap my "see you tomorrow!" banner around my whole setup and clip it so people aren't inclined to steal. Obviously it's not fool-proof and a thief insistent on stealing can take things, but I've not experienced that (thankfully) yet!
when will be your next convention?
It’ll be at Sin City Anime!
Such a great recap - lots of thoughts to ponder 😊🎉🎉
Thank you!
My fav part was the tea session at the end 🍵🫖 Everything you said about dietary restrictions is 100% true! My mind went straight to anyone struggling with diabetes… sometimes (ESPECIALLY TYPE 1) their blood sugar can drop instantly and they need an immediate remedy. Juice boxes and small candies are something that I regularly carry with me, and that’s just in case my diabetic friend happens to run out! The fact that they didn’t even let y’all bring your own water in baffles me and doesn’t make sense at all 😬
Yep it’s just crazy that these restrictions were set for vendors who literally would not be able to just get up and go whenever they want either. Definitely hope they change this policy in the future!!
+1 to EVERYTHING
❤❤❤
AHHHHH I was waiting for this! 😭
It's a long one!!
FIRST! ♥♥
GOLD STAR FOR YOUUU 🌟
I like that utensil holder. Any tips for mini prints (postcard sizes?). Also, are you still planning to share how you pack your display? Looked like a lot of grid cubes!
I actually also utilize the utensil holders for those! I can def make a video on display/packing for cons :)
Hey! I've been looking for a good set of booth lights- do you have a link for the ones you have? Loved the video, thinking about vending there next year!
Hi there! Here's the link for the lights (amzn.to/487xAvS). I'm considering it again if just to visit Portland again!
Your art is soooo cute and I'm so glad I found another artist alley vlogger!! I was also tabling at RCCC and it was my first year there. Friday was sooooo bad for me and Saturday was like WAY better so I keep hearing different stories 😂 glad you overall did well! Also your setup is so nice
It was so interesting!! I had a good time so I can't complain too much -- I'm happy to hear you did well on Saturday!!
I really enjoyed your vlog! Keep it up! 💯
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it ❤
I love your clear top display with lights, that is very smart! I also love your leaf hooks? Did you make those yourself?
I didn’t make those myself, they’re just clips I found off Amazon!
I’d love to know how you did your lighting.
They are under cabinet lights! Lots of people like using wireless clip lights like music stand lights too.
Thank you! @@pikalinstudios
I love your setup!! Are the wood cubes custom?
These aren't custom, but if you were looking to do something custom, an artist called axolotta stickers does special wraps for them! www.axolottastickers.com/custom-panels
Thanks for the video and advice!! Super helpful for first-timers like me! I was so nervous about not being organized! All the products are beautiful too!! ❤
Happy to help! Have so much fun with your first markets :)
I wish I was better with drawing in general so I could do this kinda thing haha. I’ve found I’m best with clay recently though. So I’m trying to get more into art. Super cute vlog! Loved ittt
You’d be super surprised with the variety of art you’ll see in a convention hall for artist alley! Give your clay a chance and just apply - you never know!
Watching this vlog over my lunch break was the perfect thing <3 Glad it was overall a positive experience for you!!
Awww thank you friend!! ❤❤❤
Very good video to have on while working on several things! Loved some of your print, 100% wish I could get the Dragon Mail Postal Service tote bag as I absolutely love anything to do Pokemon and love having different designs on my tote bags to take with me when shopping at stores or when I go to conventions near me! Looking forward to the next vlog!
Thank you for your feedback! I’m glad you enjoyed - keep an eye out for online restocks of the bag! ❤
@@pikalinstudios will do cause it gives me nostalgia for the first pokemon movie so just for that reason i was like I want this whenever it becomes available again!
Thanks for this video! Your product recommendations for organizing items are super helpful for someone whos trying to table for the very first time 🥲 Your products are so adorable btw! <3
I'm glad you found it helpful!! You got this ^-^
This video was so helpful. I bought a few of those hard plastic containers, and you're right. You really need to pack around it, so i was finding them to be a bit of a hassle. Thank you so much for making it! I can't wait to see your other videos 😊
Thank you so much for watching!! I’m glad you found it helpful ❤️
i'm so glad i found this, i'm joining a few conventions again soon after a long break so this was super helpful! 💖
Omg yay!! Welcome back to cons ❤️❤️ hope to see you at some!
Thank you so much for doing this Erika! 🧡 I'm still new at doing events and I appreciate this help a lot. Also so glad to find you here too!
Aww of course!! I’m glad you found some value from the video ❤️❤️
Organized Queen 👸🏻
Life = mess ✅ Keychains = organized ✅
Awesome video ♡ how many of each print would you recommend the first time bringing them to a con?
Thank you!! I think depending on what your other products are and if prints are going to be your main product! For me, prints aren’t my main products so I bring around 20 of each (usually will have leftovers). My large prints goes the slowest so I think 5-10 is typically enough for me (for a 2 or 3-day con).
