1.5 Year Crash-Test: Top Grain Leather ESV Large Print Compact Bible
Просмотров 3,5 тыс.4 года назад
Here’s a “crash test” video showing how my daily Bible has held up over the past year and a half.
Can you provide the ISBN number for the large print compact (the bigger of the three)? Or at least a product name/number or link to find it?
😂
Is this old and new testament in one? Where can I order this size?
The reason its not as floppy as the top grain leather is just because it is paste down, and not edge lined. The top grain and goat skin bibles they put out are all edgelined so theyre super floppy. Unfortunately all of their buffalo leather bibles are paste down, but ive never had a peoblem with my buffalo leather study bible. The ESV is not my go to translation but its seemingly impossible to find a pocket NKJV. So ill be getting my pocket ESV in buffalo leather tomorrow! Nice video.
Where can I find the GSM of my Bible paper?
I wish they had this in a Berean pocket bible
As a regular person unburdened by any of this, it's always funny to see different denominations fighting over whose text is the right one when neither of them actually have any real proof beyond the text itself or just faith in general, neither of which can be used to prove anything. It's like watching two children arguing on the playground. 😂
That's an interesting and extremely specific subject of entertainment 🍿 to choose for someone unburdened by any of it. Where do you believe consciousness came from?
I like it, but cannot justify the price.
Lovely Bible. Size is 5.257" x 3.25" or 13.36 cm x 8.26 cm 1.38" thick, 3.51 in cm.
I bought me a Goatskin Bible large print and that thing is massive. Yet i wanted something i could carry anywhere and be of decent quality. So i found this one. Buffalo Leather. Large Print. Compact. Im tired of the low quality bibles covers out there. This is perfect. I kept both. We will buy $1000 phone every year but cheap out on a bible and we wonder why the world has forgoten God.
This is a fair perspective!
When cross way ESVs are so cheaply made with thin paper that people have to make RUclips videos on tips to be able to read them with the horrible ghosting!
Hi, Goods & Kindred..., Just a ( Black piece of Paper ) will do the trick, too ! ! * Use ( Black Card Stock Paper ) or ( Black Construction Paper ) will also do the trick, and very little ghosting or ( NO ) ghosting at all... Sincerely in Christ.., "Semper Fi" Mike in Montana :)
The fact that it is that small and still lays open it amazing.
Comparing it to a ruler would be helpful.
Please do more videos! I do my manuscript on Microsoft Word. I make it Landscape orientation and do double column. Print it off and cut it down the middle. So, it's more like 8x5 sheets that I use, I paperclip them into my Bible.
All compact bibles must be printed in bold. semi bold at the least. Cambridge for example no longer uses either with any of their Pitt Minion bibles. In bold or semi bold print 6 point is sufficient to read without any difficulty. Also, red-letter bibles generally in small compact editions is never very good. When compact bibles like most editions of the ESV that are not verse by verse are even harder to read if the print is not in bold letter. The bible featured here looks pretty good.
With the paste down liner, would the Bible cover stay on for a lifetime?
Can you provide me the SKU # for the top grain bible please? Thank you brother 😀 Also, is the top grain one cowhide?
If you love God’s word then you would use traditional text. If the Greek compilation or translations you use take Jesus’ Deity out of 1TIMOTHY 3:16 and John 3:16 or make Jesus lie to his brothers in John chapter 7 concerning going to the feast then that is not traditional text. Modern Bible translators translate from a corrupted set of codexes which jesuits, catholics and satanists compiled. They worked to replace reliable codexes to translate from, instead using Codex Sinaiticus which was created in the 1800’s which they pass off as the oldest and best “old” Bible; Sinaiticus, they claim is 1500ish years older than it truly is. Then there is codex Alexandrinus which “appeared” about ten years after KJV 1611 was published, and codex Vaticanus which appeared in the Vatican around the 1400’s and was rejected by the scholars that worked on the KJV. Not every verse in scripture was changed but there are changes throughout. In a nutshell, handing Bible Translators something “messed up” to translate “from” makes whatever they translate “to” wrong from the start.
Great tips!
I like it.
how to get that same esv personal size study bible? With that leather.
How has this held up? Christianbook has it for $69 right now
This Bible is my favourite size and layout, but the paper is so terrible in the blue edition that I am returning mine to Christianbook.
The website indicates if it s 6 point font.
Thank you for the video. Which Bible is this? It is compact and seems like the texts are large enough.
Right on. ESV Large Print Compact
Thanks!!!
I thought the paper and print crispness is terrible in this Bible.
I personally didn’t find either to be a problem
Thank you for the video! Did you add your own gold ribbons? They look nicer then the original ones it comes with.
Yes, I added the gold ribbons to the Black Legacy.
It’s a concept that Precept Ministry has taught for years.
It’d be very cool and convenient to have little stamps that have the symbols carved out that way there’s a consistent uniformity to each symbol and also it’s way quicker than having to draw.
Great video. I've done this, in a way. I have a NASB Quentel that I have been keeping clean of notes for carrying about and then a NASB Wide Margin Quentel for my notes. These two bibles have the exact same page layouts so its seamless to go from one to another. I may move to the WM and a PSQ though, that would be the ultimate two bible setup in my mind. The Quentel feels big sometimes.
I actually have the same Bible set up! (black and green legacy). I had not thought about using one for marking and one for reading, but that makes a lot of sense. The legacy is one of my favorite layouts and my Chinese edition has thicker paper which would make it nice for marking.
Use pencil. Highlighters and pens are permanent.
I have an ESV compact reference Bible for not taking and reading and for church. I have an ESV study Bible that I reference when I have questions and it has no notes in it. Great video. Thanks!
A clean copy of your note taking bible makes so much sense! It doesn’t thwart passive memorization either as your eyes always know where to go on the page.
I actually just made a video on this topic! I was able to use a few different bibles for teaching and landed on the PSQ, for many of the reasons you gave. Small is indeed manageable!
That’s great! Interested to get your take on it.
Font size is important when the eyes get older. I use large print, giant print, or super giant print. 😃
Great video! I’ve preached from a Pitt Minion for a few months. It is very small. I enjoyed the ease of picking it up and holding it. I have recently switched to a full sized wide margin. But I would easily move back.
thank you for your time,my holy write is " The Quran "I don't know if you have a look at it it's really my guide and every single day I reading it Because it has great sermons and saves me and brings me closer to God,Also, it talks about the story of Christ and the holy books “the Bible, the Torah, the Psalms, the books of Moses” and supports their revelation to the prophets.
Indeed I have. I have deep respect for those who profess Islam, yet I have major concerns over the reliability of the Quran and it’s representation of who Jesus was and what he came to accomplish. The New Testament’s representation of Christ is not only reliable, but glorious. He is the only Way, Truth, and Life, and eternal life can only be found by repenting from sin and believing in his substitutionary sacrifice to cover our sins before the Father, and the Spirit seals and guarantees the hope of those who believe. I’d plead with you to consider reading through the book of John and comparing it to the Christ of the Quran, who I fear is represented as insufficient to provide the salvation every person desperately needs.
What a great idea!🎉
This is great. I’m going to have to give this a try.
Great video! I am a big fan of the content you are posting. I currently preach from an iPad. But honestly, I want to get away from the tablet due to my fear of technology failing me before or during the sermon. I haven’t switched over yet, but this idea may make me switch soon. I appreciate it greatly, brother!
Wow! I never thought of this! I don’t manuscript much anymore (not disciplined enough to make eye contact instead of reading) but this would be great to get my extended outline to one page!
Hmmm, I've never preached in or thought about manuscripting in double column. I will have to give that a try.
I ironically prefer single column reading, but double column manuscripting, having now done it. All the pros of the double column sizing and visual fields are for me a hindrance to reading, but a benefit to presenting/preaching.
Cool tips! I only recently heard about the black paper option, makes sense though!
Thanks for the tips!
In a past video I believe you said you were switching to the thinline? Are you back to the Legacy? I'm switching from the thinline to the Legacy.
For the past few years I tended to keep the Black ESV Legacy (circa 2014?) as my “desk Bible” at home which I would at times jot devotional notes in, but otherwise sermon notes from my church bulletin. It rarely left the desk. But I got excited when they released the Green in 2021, so snagged a copy and tried using it as my every day carry. I found it was just too cumbersome, and the British Tan Thinline stole my affection for a time (still utilizing the note taking Legacy in the background). However, the pendulum is now swinging back toward the Green Legacy for the sake of single column. I use certain Bibles in phases and then may return to them later.
Great video! I definitely see the value in not seeing your notes. I have a bible I used when I was 16-17 with notes in the margins, but now that I'm older and more mature in my faith, I take a different style of notes and now see my old notes as being a nice keepsake, but no longer helpful and just distracting. I'm now looking to buy a new bible (in ESV) and use that colour code system to date yearly when I take my more carefully chosen in-bible notes because I think that's cool too! And I'd like to have an additional bible I do not write in to keep it timeless (I'll never have to replace it unless It gets damaged/ lost) and distraction free.
Thanks for sharing! I hope it’s a blessing for years to come.
Awesome review! I’m in the market for a small bible I can bring to my college campus for my bible studies :)
I’m pretty sure they went back to Royal Jongbloed (in Europe) after several complaints from customers.
I bought my first premium Bible 4 years ago. It’s really made a difference especially in font! I turned 60 in Sept. and need a larger font!! I enjoy the feel of the leather, but the print is the biggest difference in a higher end Bible. For me to have line matching, better (more opaque) paper and more room in between lines helps me read longer without eye strain. It’s worth every penny spent!
