Ford spark plug boot stuck in the hole

Ford spark plug boot stuck in the hole
Come save my door on my 21 escape. Ford ordering a new door and I’m not happy. Wish I was handy to do this but unfortunately you put a screwdriver in my hand it’s gonna be a long day lol
Or if you just use the proper lugs and cable, (tinned copper) you don’t have to replace it. The wiring will last the life of the vessel as long as it’s been crimped correctly.
Man deserves Nobel Peace Prize!
I have a 3.2 Jeep that the very bottom of the boot is still in there after 2 hours. I may have to give this a whirl tomorrow. I came inside so pissed my head was about to explode. Lol
I have the same problem with my Apex 52, I spent a week finding the factory battery and back to the same problem
Sry, to hear you wife is disappointed. LOL
Great video, I'm having the same issue with my 2020 Escape. I do have a question though, if I do this repair and a recall does come around, will they not honor the recall because I've done a "modification" on the vehicle?
I just received a letter from Ford (June '24) about my '22 Escape. CSP # 23B56. Same problem. Letter says the free program will be in effect until 5/31/27, regardless of mileage. I don't know about other model years.
1/4 inch grade 8 bolts with lock nuts , will work fine if you dont have rivets . ,
😂 Your last comment cracked me up
Son of a bitch! I have been f*cking with a firewall boot on a 2015 Ford Explorer for over three hours. You are the man! Where do I send a small token of my appreciation? Cheers from the Mississippi Delta
Excellent repair video, can you specify the length of the 3/16th rivet used. Thank you.
Johnson lifters are made in the US.
Thank You for posting this! I changed plugs in the 3.5 Ecoboost for the first time last night and this happened on plug 5. I fought with it for an hour before finding your video. Never did I think I'd need a hole saw to change plugs, but here we all are. I've replaced deep well plugs in a Tacoma, Tundra, Sienna, and Rav4 and never ran into this problem. I'm glad there are people like you out there who help.
same issue with my apex 52. The factory battery size not available anywhere. Had to use new straps to hold batter down rather than the factory battery hold down bracket.
Good video. I was hoping you were testing the Howards direct lube lifters with the laser drilled center holes for constant cam lobe oil supply. I would look forward to any opinions on these lifters and or Crower's cam saver lifters, Rhoads lifters? Any good experience's? What brand would you recommend?
Holt anti seize!!😮 New spark plugs have a coating from the factory and DO NOT need anti seize. This is a fact and not my opinion. Spent many hours on the dyno and had all kinds of grounding issues caused by anti seize. Old school shit that has no place on a modern plug.
New plugs are not coated with anything other than the same zync coating thay have used sens the 50s. If you had all this experience you would know all about 5.4 spark plugs sticking and braking. The ford service procedure calls for antisieze. Just because you have been doing something wrong for 30 years dosen't make you an expert
Throw a caliper on them and move them close together, please. Curious now. I think you're onto something. The Doyle wasn't bolted down, slide it over a little. Closer is better when comparing, especially on camera. Several caliper measurements would have proven the same mold, at least very convincing. Please make another video if you still have them. I know this was 2 years ago. Thanks for sharing
We had a successful day on the dyno. Made real numbers and it's still alive. Like and subscribe for updates
Thanks for heads up. Just bought aluminum trailer and will check that
Clevis bolts/pins are indeed designed & intended for shear loading... some are retained by pins or minimally torqued nuts, with no dependance on torque or friction. I suspect your dealing with poorly designed joints. There's a lot more to all this...
Interesting, maybe get a tripod so you don’t have to torque 100ft lbs with one hand
Shopping
I bought mine for 125 with a discoount. It replaced my 40 year old chinese one. Same size but the Doyle is heavier. It takes exactly twice as many turns to close my old vice...... Makes me wonder about Doyles clampling force. The Doyle turns very smooth and the swivel is much nicer. I'm really liking it. I wanted the 6".......but that is too big for my bench.
You had me riveted to this video! Rivets is a less invasive way than bolts( which I was about to do). Thanks
I was watching another guy's channel and he basically should how flat tappets aren't made right anymore.
Problem is that crimper is too small for that gauge of wire.
i am attemting to do a swap omc 5,0 to a merc 4.3 outdrive what will be the difference?
I use old wore out valve springs to break in the sbc flat tappet cams. Then I'll change them to the correct spring pressure. Big blocks I take out the center spring for break in. Lucas break in oil and joe Gibbs assembly grease on the cam and lifters. Never had a failure.
I wouldn't hesitate at all to use new GM lifters, unlike the products from exotic lands.
Great video keep us updated on the results of the GM lifters
Am I the only one to clean off the swarf from a tap/thread chaser before sticking it down another hole? If my airline doesn't reach to where I'm working, I use an old toothbrush for that job.
I watched this video because I had a friend with the exact same problem but it was the RF door and they have a 2022 model but all the same. This video was spot on and the only thing I’d like to add is the special clip on the back of the door handle DO NOT break it. Ford charged me $28 for that darn clip. Great video!!!
This vise has really held up to abuse. It’s top notch. Harbor freight has a lot of hood stuff now.
This is an awful solution. It’s messy and it doesn’t guarantee that the area is going to be completely completely free of debris. Get black silicone and put it around the rim of the ignition coil. Stick it down in there over the plug and twist the ignition coil a bit making sure it seats. just the extra pressure of having the black silicone in there may provide you with enough friction to properly remove the rubber boot. If that doesn’t work, let it sit overnight until the silicone hardens and yank it right off.
Did you watch the video. The bore was clean as a whistle
"We're gonna use the proper cheap Chinese tool" AWESOME!
lol
Very helpful Thank you!
Thank you sir!!!!!!
Thanks!! I'm so upset with this 3.5 and Ford all together
This guy is full of himself isn't he. The only ones done right are the ones he has done. Hard to take him seriously after that comment.
If you decide to use this technique it’s perfectly acceptable just make sure you by two of everything and plan to redo everything in 3-5 years when you copper turns black, hopefully before your boat burns down. Good luck.
I’m so confused I put tinned wire in my 28’ offshore boat I use commercially 9 months out of the year the last 16 years, we used tinned cable, tinned terminals and it’s running strong with no electrical issues. I have to somewhat agree with most of the comments. Bare copper work great yes, but it also highly depends on the environment of that specific installation location. There’s not a chance bare copper outlasts tinned, test have been performed to prove tinned wire has = or less resistance when properly installed, also tests showing bare copper falling apart and causing serious safety risks. I’ve been a Yamaha tech for 25 years and all big companies try to save pennies every chance they can but one thing I’ve noticed they never use bare copper. Hmmmmm, weird. Change the title man you’ll never win this battle, facts are facts.
Out fracking standing don't you know. You are man
Can t be That's what they will say as they lie to your face. Was it bought in Whitefish? They are crap
4” is the width of the jaw, 4 1/2” is how far it opens, and either measurement is overkill for a dick vice 🫣
That worked like a dream especially on the back cylinders on that Triton motor that are a **** to get to that whole saw just ripped that crappy rubber right out of there thank you very much merry Christmas to you And actually it was a 7/8 whole saw that worked I think you said 5/8 in the video
That is the best idea i'm Dickin with a Triton V8 right now same problem gonna give it a shot you're a genius
The product he recommends are Cleco Fastener, which I misheard as Cleat Goat and got transcribed by RUclips as CLE oats and Cleo.
