I wish i could find a lipedema literate dr
So one thing I don't understand, is lipoedema an overgrowth of fat cells, abnormal accumulation of fat in preexisting fat cells, or is it actually accummulation of fat in the tissues (ie outside of fat cells)? I know once you've finished growing, you will be stuck with essentially the same number of fat cells (adipocytes) for your whole life (unless removed by liposuction). With lipoedema, especially when it accumulates in adulthood, such as after pregnancy or menopause, is ut that the fat cell start proliferating again when they're not supposed to? I know it's not a very well understood disease but everyone seems to imply something different. Do we have a straight answer as to what it actually is that's happening (even if we don't know the why)?
You have the perfect “Tracy-centered” posts. Started Enhertu today. 💪
Notch in the back??? So you mean it's not meant to go in the front. Oh lord have mercy I thought that notch was a dedicated place for the old family jewels.
This is an excellent info. Even 10 years later I seem to be dealing with this issue. Thank you for the reminders
@@terryfraser4952 glad it’s helpful!
Great video with lots of helpful information! Keep up the great work. Would you please do some content on radiation necrosis. There is very little information out there for this.
@@j.marie1239 thank you for the kind words and feedback! And great idea, I’ll add it to the list!
Thank you so much.
Can a person still go to the gym with leg wrapps on like squats and lungs ?
@@ladyhoneybee6able yes! Exercise + compression is effective for reducing swelling; the more you move, the better. 🙌🏾
Can I use the tape over my mastectomy scare?
@@joannrosko356 great question! I can’t answer personal questions, but it’s not recommended to put the tape over a healing scar. If the scar is well healed and the surgeon/medical team has cleared it then tape can go over a scar.
Where can I get the compression bra thank you
@@ninabertolo7314 Hi! You can get the Prairie Wear bra here: www.prairiewear.com/ONCOPELVICPT Plus use the promo code ONCOPELVICPT for a 10% discount 😊 #affiliate
Would you do a lymphedema video for kinesiology tape for reconstructed vulva area? Thank you
@@deborahdufel1664 hi, thanks for the suggestion! Tape shouldn’t be used directly on the genitals but it can be placed on the legs and trunk/abdomen to help with any genital swelling. I’ll add this to my list of videos!
Hello, same thing when you have mastectomy?
Should I be able to hold the weight without even squeezing when I’m testing which weight to start with? I can hold the mid range weight if I’m squeezing but not without squeezing. I’m having trouble figuring out which weight to start with. Thanks!
Please have the patients speak for themselves their isn't any one thats on these casts that hasnt complained of severe side effects ..
Hey there hello yes I need help where do I get these items...please ty much
Hi! You can get most of these (and more) from my go-to online site, Brightlife Direct: bit.ly/48j6Zeg You can also check with your local medical equipment company and lymphedema therapist to see which one might be best for you!
I have have cuffs and feet too. Idk

Where could bay tha long black slive you shoe before thank you my left harem his awalled
Excellent demos and very helpful exercises. Thank you.
Hey hey! I did my full body MLD this morning 👏 thank you SO MUCH for these videos! While performing my own MLD, I noticed increased yawning, clammy hands and feet, and very slight lightheadedness. So I just paused, let it pass, then resumed. Now, hypothermia of the feet is a common side effect with lipedema. But the yawning and clammy hands and feet, can that be normal when doing MLD? 😅
I'm a 15 year old with vaginismus and this was really helpful
I want the guide
Here’s the link! oncopelvicpt.podia.com/the-cancer-survivor-s-guide-to-lymphedema
Please stop misinforming people. Obesity can and absolutely does co exist with lipoedema. The lip weight has nothing to do with the obesity weight. So someone who is just a little overweight and has lipoedema, this applies to them. However you're telling this to women that are 500lbs with 50lb of lipoedema and they're trying to claim they can't lose weight which is nonsense. They can lose all the normal weight just like anyone else.
Thank you for the feedback! My goal for this particular video was to educate that obesity and lipedema are different conditions and lipedema should not be treated solely like obesity. Yes, lipedema and obesity can absolutely overlap and weight loss can occur with obesity. Too often, people with lipedema are told for years to lose weight for obesity and even when they do, they still have the lipedema but it’s not diagnosed and they are still told it’s “just obesity”. My goal with this video was to simply raise awareness that they’re not the same. Thanks again for your feedback!
Nevermind you answered it
How long do you leave the dilator in and should you move it around
Good demonstration of exercises.
Thank you!
@@oncopelvicpt The cords tend to be tight, making it difficult to lift arm. Exercises are very helpful.
❤I just finished putting on my compression garments! And i immediately found your video after opening yt♡😂
Hi I’ve had bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction can you suggest any adaptations please?
Can it be both?
Good question! Yes, although they are different conditions, they can overlap
Thak you so much I had shoulder surgery my left harm swallow that help me a lot God less you thank you ♥️
Glad it helped!
And Diabetes Insipidus...
Yes, preventing and managing diabetes appropriately is important!
Quite helpful...thank you.
Wonderful, I’m so glad!
I have birth one baby, but still having pain very badly, and still having sex fear, can't even use my own finger
Friends, yes the therapy can help! I’m seeing an Occupational Therapist who knows her stuff and my swelling is already way down (I’m still in the intensive phase). It does take work and consistency, but my leg has a shape again. I almost have an ankle. If you know, you know!!!
So glad you’re seeing improvement with your OT! Keep it up! 👍
Avoid inflammatory food and the chemically arranged digestive ingredients in processed food-parents-stop feeding children junk-+ all oils especially. Only include olive, coconut, avacoda oils. NO resteraunts use the best oils.
You’ll know when you’re the body weight you should be (think highschool before kids as long as you weren’t lipodema damaged as a child) AND there’s no more “weight or fat cells” left) and lipodema is left over, still. Drs have no clue. Study cadavers with it PLEASE
There’s no fat cells in the tissues. Fat cells can be reduced. After that , lipodema is left over and / is the damage left in the tissues from lymphatic system breaking down in between the muscle striations under the skin tissue. Fat cells can be used as fuel for the body-the toxins inside fat cells cause damage where there resting in the tissues. That’s why it doesn’t go away after liposuction & fat loss.
Thank u ❤❤❤
Any exercises for bowel pain that’s accompanied by jelly legs and overall weakness? I’m 6 weeks post chemoradiotherapy and nobody seems to know what’s causing this pain which gets worse after eating. Some speculation about it being neuropathic. It’s like labour pain. The hip stretches felt really good and made me realise how stiff my whole pelvic region is
Thank you. This is the most thorough instruction I have seen. What should who has had bilateral mastectomy do if lymph nodes have been removed on both sides and lymphedema on both sides? Where do you pump to?
Thank you for the feedback, I’m so glad it’s helpful! In general, if lymph nodes are removed from both sides, then the fluid would get pumped down to the groins and skip going across the chest
great video- very clear. Just a question- in my CLT training we were taught not to stimluate axilla area if lymph nodes were removed . You mentioned that its good to do to help support the remaining lymph nodes. is this based on newer research?
Great question! Yes, there is newer research showing the most common drainage site is to the ispilateral (same side) axillary lymph nodes. There are limitations to the studies, but positive findings and I have incorporated them into my practice! Here’s one study: bmccancer.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12885-019-6192-1
Finally! Great information, just what I needed.
Awesome!! 🙌🏾
Give us more pls
After watching many of the lipedema videos I have found online: #1 diet is critical (food allergies like dairy, wheat ,eggs have a huge impact on your body) #2 Liposuction is critical to getting rid of the diseased tissue, it will not go away on it's own.
Yes! Diet is so important and there is (slowly) more research coming out about the role of dietary considerations with lipedema. For surgical procedures, it’s important to work with a surgeon well versed in lipedema since the liposuction procedure performed is not a “typical” liposuction. Thanks for your comments!
Is there a better time to do this? Morning or before bed?
Great question! Do it whenever you can do it regularly each day. One thing to consider is that MLD causes increased urine production, making you have to pee more so maybe not right before bed 😊
Thank you so much! I appreciate your response.
Wow very helpful tips .....❤❤❤
Great! I’m so glad!
