We did just celebrate our anniversary! We have been married over a decade and we have one daughter. Our neice comes with us on cruises when the daughter comes so she has company...you know because the daughter is too cool for her parents 😉

We found Celebrity to be a bit more upscale. In our opinion, the difference between Carnival and Royal Caribbean is the same between Royal Caribbean and Celebrity. It was a calm and peaceful cruise. Scott said this was the first cruise he never felt rushed to do anything.

It definitely surprised us because it had been so long since we saw him! And I am sure he sees many many thousands of customers throughout his career and yet he still recognizes us. We were blown away! There was another bartender that was with Nikolai on the Celebration but he moved to the Piano Bar. One of the final days of the Jubilee cruise that bartender remembered us. Once he told us he was from Alchemy on Celebration I remembered him! We made sure we took good care of both our repeat bartenders!

Well Scott is hard of hearing too. He did 20 years Marine Corps and artillery LOL. It's been years since we sailed Horizon (our only Vista class we have done). But we loved JiJis. We found the JiJis on the Sunshine just wasn't quite the same as Horizon

@@scottandsheds I've had it on the Vista and the Panorama and I dream about that Kung Pao lol I feel like both JiJi's and Cucina take just a little step down in quality on the Excel. And tell Scott I said I feel his pain that everyone always wants to talk to you when a) you're standing by the sink running water and b) you're standing by the washing machine lol WHAT????? And please stop talking to us when your head is turned away!

Thank you. I usually bring a big beach bag and I cover our belongings with the beach towel. I sometimes hide the bag under the lounge chair.

From Scott: Hey there! We try to have one of the girls stay with our stuff but if they aren't there we typically put our phones and other cameras in a bag or at the very least under a towel. If we feel comfortable with our beach neighbor, we ask them to look at our stuff to ensure nobody walks off with our stuff.

That's why Scott did not have but one or two. I had the pineapple drink just for the experience.

I had two long islands just in case the first one was a fluke....it was not. I would recommend going to the store on the beach (bit of a walk) and buying a bottle of liquor and discreetly pour your own drinks and maybe asking for a mixer from the bar....or bring your own soda to mix from the ship.

@@scottandsheds the only cruise I've (Russ) ever been on was 1 Royal cruise back in 1999. My wife (Lauren) has never been on a cruise so we're both super excited.

@InfectiousGroovePodcast I guarantee you will love it. Not that kids aren't welcome on Celebrity but there are essentially kids and definitely less hectic than RC and definitely Carnival. Everything is very relaxed and I never felt like I was rushed.

Hi tonilutgring and thanks for watching. Maybe I just went at a bad time, or maybe our sailing the crew was burnt out. I am glad you got great service there! We try to not let one thing spoil an entire cruise line for us but only one time to make a first impression 🤷‍♂️

@@scottandsheds honestly the food we had was really good as well. I do cruise quite often and this was my second MSC. This one I came back 5 lbs heavier, that hasn’t happened in years. I think it was the pizza and the focaccia bread that did it.

@tonilutgring3974 that pizza is good isn't it! I'm not exaggerating when I say the best at sea. We did love the specialty restaurants and the MDR was good the one time we went. The buffet was OK, nothing great but nothing atrocious either.

Then the elevator thinks only one person is getting in the elevator. You take a chance that only one person can get in. Then you'll have to wait longer.

Hi Elizabeth. Great question! Like Shedney said, you will wait longer. 99% of the people I encountered at the elevators complained about it while waiting. I simply asked them if they knew how to use it and they gave the explanation of only pressing the button once. When that happens, the elevator "thinks" only one person is getting into the elevator. If most people do what you were asking about, the elevator will be full BUT it thinks only 3 people are in it, and it will stop for other people who have called the elevator. Then people cannot get in the elevator, and they will be frustrated. Hope this helps!

Scott has said he liked his filet better on Carnival. The setting there on MSC isn't as formal as Carnivals steakhouse either. But it was still a steakhouse and worth if. I enjoyed both steakhouses equally. My appetizer was the bone marrow and Carnival did not have that so that's a plus for me!

I see you sailed with US Navy. Scott us a retired Marine. We heard similar bad reviews about MSC so we tried to keep an open mind. No two cruise lines are the same!

We will definitely look into it. I was tempted to tell Scott to book yacht club but we wanted the average experience first

@@scottandsheds A note on the Yacht Club inside cabin. The bathroom is SMALLLLLLL. Shower is TINY. Barely enough space to turnaround and you cannot sit straight on the toilet without knees hitting the vanity. Think airplane bathroom. If you can deal with that, then go for it as an economical way to try the yacht club. I've done the Royal Suite, regular balcony, and an inside. I was happy with the inside for quick 3-4nt getaway. Any longer than that and I would move up to a balcony. The royal suite is a nice splurge. King bed plus full sleeper in living room. HUGE balcony with jetted tub, loungers, and an 8person dining table.

We will keep it in mind. We might try another MSC next year or so. But agree, on 7 days or longer we prefer balcony

@@Beyond50Beauty It seems most inside cabins are small. Showers are a bit better on the Carnival Excel class ships though. For the quick 3 or 4 day cruises, we prefer inside cabins due to not being in the room for long, especially for a ship we have not been on yet. My favorite thing to do is to explore areas on the ship. You would be surprised what little nooks you can find just by walking around.

Yes!!! For sit down restaurant we LOVED ChiBang! We normally stuck with the asian side of the menu. For quick service Scott loved Big Chicken. Even if the line was long it went fast and the chicken is so good!

This was our 8th time going to Nassau. It seems most cruises go there from the east coasts. We just decided to explore a new ship rather than do an excursion this time.

We haven't tried Princess...yet. that is definitely something scott and I talk about though. Drinks were decent however Scott had an issue with bar service in 2 or 3 of the bars. I did love the entertainment, but Scott was not as impressed by it. He didn't hate it but thought it was at or slightly below Carnival. We had some issues with Carnival, but it's been on the smaller ships. Even then, it was mainly other cruisers and kids being disrespectful or rude.

​@@scottandshedsPrincess is our favourite. Yep agreed- on Carnival it's the people mostly that ruin it, also found their ships very dirty.

​@tricialundgren7287 our last Carnival cruise was the Jubilee, and our next one will be on Mardi Gras next year. We did sail on the Sunshine this past year. We didnt find it dirty, but it definitely showed its age. Ill look out for how the Mardi Gras is due to it being in the fleet longer than the Celebration and Jubilee.
