1:00 When I first saw the title of the movie, I opened my eyes a little wider. It filled me up with both fear…and excitement! 👀 😳😨😊

Un film plus significatif qu'on ne le croit, en témoigne la reprise de la scène d'ouverture du premier. En 1989 Tim Burton s'inspirait peut-être de "Une femme disparaît" de Hitchcock, avec ces plans aériens qui débouchent sur un paysage figuré par une maquette très reconnaissable... mais pour présenter de toute façon un pays fictif. Burton détourna cela en faisant intervenir une araignée au milieu de sa propre ville/maquette, comme si on était soudain propulsé dans un film de monstres géants... Puis retournement supplémentaire, avec un homme tout doux qui prend délicatement cette araignée et la libère gentiment. Conclusion, "Beetlejuice" est un film d'horreur pour enfants. En 2024, Burton se détourne lui-même et cette fois ce qu'on voit c'est Lydia Deetz dans la maquette (on pense bien sûr à "Hérédité" de Ari Aster)... Interprétation évidente, elle s'y trouve symboliquement car elle n'a jamais pu se remettre de cette histoire de harcèlement dans le premier film. Et juste après, on voit Lydia dans une autre "boîte", un autre endroit artificiel : un studio télé, à faire des émissions de poltergeists un peu foireuses. Bien entendu c'est Burton qui parle de son propre statut, enfermé dans une prison (à peine) dorée, à ressasser les mêmes choses dont le public est friand, toujours avec le même look... et étant incapable de se révolter. Il y aussi un peu de ça pour l'actrice Winona Ryder (elle en a bavé dans la vie, et son regard exorbité en témoigne), voir même pour Jenna Ortega (elle cite le cri de Munch, donc forcément son lien avec "Scream", aujourd'hui brisé), sans compter l'utilisation de Monica Bellucci (comme avec Lisa Marie ou Helena Bonham Carter, son inclusion dans le film est plus proche du plaisir coupable, à peine transcendé). Conclusion, "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" est un méta film pour enfants - et anciens enfants... ceux-là même qui ont rejeté Burton en même temps que la mode Gothique a cessé d'être un phénomène de contre-culture - vers la fin des années 90 (ça a été très court) en même temps que l'avènement du Numérique... Numérique que Burton, en bon animateur de formation, utilise sans honte. Y compris sur ce "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" en partie bricolé de traviole (l'ironie étant que le budget a été baissé de 50 millions de dollars, pour mieux sortir sur grand écran). Les plus nostalgiques, ce sont ceux là même qui ne l'aiment plus car ils sentent peut-être l'auteur en train de râler derrière sa caméra... Mais il a toujours fait ça, même quand il était heureux. Éternel insatisfait.

I went to see this movie on October 7th. As a young fan of the ENTIRE franchise, I can say that it was the best event of the year. During the entire opening intro, the whole theatre literally VIBRATED WITH EVERY SOUND, and here I am, sitting with a huge smile, my heart is pounding, and goosebumps appear on my hands. I've been waiting for this for so long, God... Many thanks to Tim Burton. Without him, there would not be all these wonderful emotions 💚
