The Prop Master with Robert Walker
США
Добавлен 9 мар 2017
The Prop Master takes you step by step through the process of making props and costumes perfect for Cosplay, Fan Films or Halloween. These are real step by step videos, using tools that you probably have or can get inexpensively. No skipping steps or glossing over the harder parts. You see the whole process, including mistakes. Watch the mistakes here so you don’t make them at home.
These props aren’t accurate to the original movie/theater props because, face it, movie and theater props are designed to look good on film or at a distance and can look less than ideal up close. These props are made to look “up close“ like the originals did on film.
Current and future projects:
The Mandalorian Project.....includes a Boba Fett Helmet, Sabine Wren Helmet, Jango Fett Armor, Boba Fett Armor, Sabine Wren Armor, Fett style Jet Pack, Sabine Wren Jet Pack, Boba Fett’s EE-3 Carbine, Jango Fett’s Westar-34 pistols, Sabine’s Westar-35 pistols, Sabine’s Spray Gun

@@darthmong7196 excellent, and thanks for taking the time to comment
Another great video. Thank you!
@@randy13413 Thank you so much and thank you for taking the time to comment.
I think this video sets the record for the most CA glue used in a single application 🙂
@@KeplersDream I think you might be right.
Mr Walker, can I use cardboard for this?
@@JLTrj00913 if cardboard is in material that you are more comfortable working with it’s possible, but it will be more difficult. With EVA foam, you can heat it and stretch it into compound curves that will stay, and that’s going to be much more difficult with cardboard. Also, cardboard will be much thinner than the EVA foam so you’ll have to add something to the inside of the helmet afterwards to make it fit.
@@thepropmasterwithrobertwal6186 I've tried it, and it turned out pretty good. Thanks for the advice
Great video, I went shopping looking for suitable items I could use for the thrusters tape measure in hand. I used a plastic Christmas bauble and mouth wash caps for the narrow part of the thruster and added ceiling light bulb holder skirts. Great video content as always Robert, really enjoy your videos lots of information.
@@adrianscott7979 That’s what I like to hear. Good work.
One small but necessary step for a propmaker - one giant leap towards a final jetpack.

No, Thank You for the comment
Excellent video! And my guess was thermal expansion on the tube, as well.
@@jarlthunder Thanks for the comment. Also, I can’t believe you got that far in the video so quickly after I posted it. Thank you very much for watching.
Great video as always. I'm still in the process of watching it, but I wanted to comment this befire I forget. Although it's hard to tell the scale on screen, that 'definitely not a rangefinder' piece looks to me like it could be one of those wall-mounted door stops that prevent the door from damaging the wall, but maybe it's too small for that.
@@KeplersDream You’re right, that does look a lot like that, but it’s definitely too small. It only sticks up about. 1 3/8” or 35mm.
@@thepropmasterwithrobertwal6186 That's a shame, it might have been a handy work around. Ah well. 🙂
@@KeplersDream yeah, there’s nothing I like better than finding out that a prop or greeble is a an existing object
Hello. are there templates of how to make the dome? I'm new to this and having a lot of trouble with it. Please help.
Sorry about the late reply, I just saw this. The dome templates should be part of the template package. However, the link to the templates is for a folder instead of just the file. So you want to pick the file that says “New” in the title.
I tried this on cardboard and it works! Thanks to your best video
I love the instructions ur a great youtuber
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it
Excellent! I really appreciate the additional written comments on your video. They are very helpful! 43:31
Thanks for commenting
You're accent is like Michael Conor Humphries the little fella who played young Forrest Gump - himself the inspiration behind Tom Hank's accent. Are you from Mississippi?
No, born and raised in Texas.
@@thepropmasterwithrobertwal6186 aah well. Not all brits are good with accents.
LOL Well, you could tell I was from the south. Don’t ask me to identify the differences between a Yorkshire and Oxfordshire accent. recognizing Scotts from English from Welsh is about the extent of my abilities.
I love kitbashing. It's the funnest part of building.
Great job as always. I like how you put more effort into getting the details right than the actual prop department at Lucasfilm ever did 😊.
Thank you very much.
Can relate to looking for found parts. I've been searching through Thrift Shop bins for years looking for a vintage Casio or a pulce 40 spear gun.
Oh, that Casio. I have vivid memories of my mother having that exact model. I scoured their entire house, but it must’ve been thrown away at some point.
Somewhere I’m sure there is a pulse 40 sitting next to a scuba tank frame in some grandparents attic or garage.
I really appreciate all the research you do to make this authentic looking! Excellent job!
I really appreciate that. Thank you very much for the comment.
This is going to look so awesome.
Thank you so much. I hope so.
It's amazing how an object that looks so simple ends up being so complex. Great job as always 👍
Thanks You’re right, I always seem to go into a job thinking it’s going to be quick and simple and then slowly realize how much more there is to it that I thought.
Amazing as always robert! Those thrusters came out beautifully
Thank you very much. It did work out better than I was expecting.
Keep up all the hard work. It is amazing to watch the journey
I’ll keep pushing on, as long as there’s a few people watching. And Thanks for the comment!
Love these videos! Commenting to show the luv!
Thank you so much! This means a lot
"Promo sm" 🤩
Could this be done in sintra?
@@kate.aimless I am so sorry, RUclips did not give me a notification for this comment. I think you could use Sentra with this. You’ll just have to be careful heating and shaping the Sentra before putting the pieces together. The EVA foam is elastic and will form smooth curves after the parts are glued together. The Sentra is more likely to stay the rigid shape it was formed into before the parts were glued together. But I think you could heat the helmet and smooth out the curves afterwards. The central will also be thinner than the foam so you’ll have to add padding inside the helmet afterwards. I hope this helps and that everything works out. Sorry about the late reply.
Hey Robert, great videos, I would have never attempted building the gauntlets from scratch if it hadn’t been for your great tutorials and templates, 👍 I’m almost finished the left had one now. One question though, if the flame thrower is supposed to be mounted in the left had gauntlets, why do the pipes, go on the right had gauntlet? I know they kept changing location and function throughout the two movies? Many thanks 🙏
Thank you so much; stories like this are the reason why I make the videos. When I made my prototype for the left gauntlet, I ran a hose to a water tank so that I could spray water out of the flamethrower. And then, when I saw that there was no hoses going to that gauntlet, I couldn’t believe it. It makes no sense.
@@thepropmasterwithrobertwal6186 thanks for the reply, sounds like one of those many things that starwars used to do, with no explanation lol 🤷♂️
Nice build!
Thanks
Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial and such detailed patterns and stencils! I just finished my Sabine Wren helmet for my cosplay following your video series, and it turned out great! I've already gotten so many compliments on it, and I have you to thank for your amazingly clear and thorough instructions throughout the crafting process. I'm still super new to foam work, and I felt way more at ease following your guide. Can't wait to wear this with my full Sabine build! You're the best!
Thank you very much. Comments like this are exactly why I make these videos. I’d love to see a photo of your build.

Another great video, Thank you!
And thank you for the comment.
It's mesmerizing watching you work!
It's really impressive how much detail you've captured in this project, most of them I never noticed before your videos. I'm looking forward to starting work on the helmet at some point soon.
dang youve been working on this for 6 years? impressive
I talked to Adam Savage about the Boba Fett build because I know that he wants to do one himself and his comment was “That’s just a really big project”
*Promo sm*
Hey Robert, thank you so much for these videos! I first found your channel around the beginning of covid and you inspired me to make my first boba fett costume with eva foam. What started as a pastime turned into an absolute passion and I'm now finishing my 3rd build and hoping to submit approval pics for the 501st soon. A lot of what I learned from you still applies and these videos truly are so valuable for people getting into this hobby. So really thank you again for all of your hard work and commitment to putting these videos out there!
Thank you so much. That’s one of the nicest things anyone has ever commented.
Once again, another great video
I was trying to figure out when (and mostly how) the "vents" were carved out of the first angled piece at the top of the center 'tube' that I see in some of the videos, but not in others. is there 2 different jet paks you are working on?
I cover that in this video in the actual build series: ruclips.net/video/yc_dN0zxT90/видео.htmlsi=rtuPeaeAmdbLgyw9
the kind of temps you are talking about are what I deal with in AZ and therefore do not use any hot glue. largely because i have had it just plain give up holding some of my stuff.
That looks pretty damn good so far.
Thanks
Another great video, Thank you
Thank you! For the comment
I like how you learn as you go and come up with alternative ways of doing things on the fly.
I love watching how this project is evolving.
Thanks, I really do appreciate that
What is the name of tool you use electrical one
The hot glue gun?
The other electric tool that I use is a Proxxon finger sander.
