Yes, because Grist can be your commander. That line of text says that as long as Grist is not on the battlefield it is a creature, not matter where it is. This is the same combo that Agatha's Cauldron does, but to creatures with +1/+1 counters on them.

Your realy late to this idea came out with chatterfang.

You need the planechase for this deck. Its an equalizer, lets it catch up to a ramp if someone played one, pushes token decks, makes having only two bombs in form of big creatures on the board insanely powerful and generally makes sure that opponents can't just continuously boardwipe this token deck. Ignoring planechase fails this deck's premise IMHO. In other words: If your group is like "Planechase stinky!", like in this video, you shouldn't bother bringing this deck, so better ask beforehand if they are cool with planechasing.

I love the phyrexians, glissa is my 2nd favorite phyrexian commander, with number one being vishgraz the doomhive, i love my little swarm of venomous mites, white, green, black, and 2 mana, comes in with 3 phyrexian mites with toxic, I run a fun bounce build with him, and got like 4 different ways to win with him, with 6 different ways to set it up

Saruman can still put counters on an army with shroud from Whispersilk Cloak. Shroud prevents the permanent from being targeted but Amass doesn’t target, it chooses! Just something to know

I got a Brudiclad for this deck to haste all my tokens and make more tokens. I can also transform all my 1/1 myrs into 2/1 phyrexian myrs. Pretty cool.

I love you! Yes i agree. Mishra on his own is just a boring "go wide" commander. No way anyone in their rihgt ming would wanna run him like that! Show me the deck baby!!! And keeping it budget as well kudos. It's incredible how many youtubers just DON'T bother building this card for the melded side. Like arguiably this one is the easiest to pull off for crying out loud

It rated very low on most people's lists of viable precons. Ir doesn't seem like a bad strategy though. Maybe upgrading it would make it more viable? Unless you end up swapping most the deck.

I've made budget and non-budget builds of this deck and have been playing brawl on arena quite a lot with Ashnod. This commander is so much fun because it has a set game plan I try and follow every turn. In my opinion, inspiring sanctuary is not the play, because if you do not get it, it makes the nonartifact high end spells pointless since you have to cast them like normal. Ideally, this deck ramps turns 2 through 5, then sets you up for fun artifact shenanigans in the late game. The best Sac Fodder creatures you can sac turn 2, and immediately and continuously recur turns 3-5, in case you don't draw other sac fodder targets. S-tier: Reassembling Skeleton Haunt of the Dead Marshes Clay Revenant Brood of Cockroaches Persistent Specimen Sanitarium Skeleton Bloodghast (worth even in budget builds) Next tier I feel are cards that allow you to cycle through your deck. A-tier: Clattering Augur (maybe could be S-tier since you can recur it, but you can't do it on turn 3) Disciple of Perdition Dusk Legion Zealot Guildsworn Prowler Novice Occultist Last tier are cards that leave a body behind. B-Tier: Butcher Ghoul (better than cards that leave behind a token because of Midnight Reaper and Grim Haruspex) Putrid Goblin (better than cards that leave behind a token because of Midnight Reaper and Grim Haruspex) Hangarback Walker (doubles as a sac fodder target and a late game artifact payoff) (worth even in budget builds) Carrier Thrull (gives you access to five mana on turn 3) Some budget artifact pay-offs are: Elbrus, the Binding Blade Ancient Stone Idol Herald of Anguish Meteor Golem Sandstone Oracle Lithoform Engine (another card I think worth even on budget, gives you ability to copy abilities and permanents) Soul Conduit Wondrous Crucible Noxious Gearhulk Myr Battlesphere Phyrexian Triniform

Amass doesn't target, it chooses. It goes through shroud and lets you put the counters on your existing army.

My group have done something interesting, we have restricted ourselves with a commander that's not in the top 25 of its respective color identity and a budget of 100 us dollars worth of card. I have chosen Glissa, Herald Of Predation as my commander and gone into the incubate path, i have yet to test that build. But excited to try it.

if you want card draw in green there is little better than greater good. Sacrificing for free is an incredible ability, and this card will draw you so much gas there's a danger of self mill

Absent from the list are your token-makers and expendable nontoken creatures- we need junky stuff to sacrifice, after all. Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia, Ophiomancer and cards like Reassembling Skeleton allow you to grind games out and always have a fall guy to sacrifice to something else. Why sacrifice actual resources when you can just pitch fodder? They also enable effects like Fleshbag Marauder and its many similar friends.

Still haven’t finalized my Megs deck. Was going to squeeze in Ishen. Thoughts?
