    • @WoodHuntingSaddles
      @WoodHuntingSaddles Год назад

      There are two important parts to making this work; 1- make sure whatever carabiner, or s biner you use is barely big enough to clip onto the rope. Smaller and tighter is better so that it doesn’t slip off the hitch cord 2- make sure the hitch cord isn’t tight while tending it, if it’s still under load or bound tightly, you’ll be fighting it all the way down. To grab, the cord only needs a partial pull once it’s been set and broke free. Thanks again for watching and if you have any issues feel free to reach out to us. Happy hunting

    Why buy a device you don't need and have to back it up? A Munter hitch with the rope and carabiner does the job well.

    • @WoodHuntingSaddles
      @WoodHuntingSaddles Год назад

      Hi Zane. We love the super Munter for emergency rappel and that will be on display at our Saddle Flaooza meet up. The negative is if you tie the Munter incorrectly in the dark, that can lead to an accident. Also you can’t ascend on a Munter. A big advantage mechanical belay devices have are that you can connect them on the ground and never come off the device throughout your entire hunt, including your ascent and descent.

    • @phaupt123
      @phaupt123 Год назад

      Hi thanks for this - I’m using 9mm CE rope for rappel - is a sewn eyed 8mm cord(30ish inches) appropriate for the friction hitch backup here

    • @WoodHuntingSaddles
      @WoodHuntingSaddles Год назад

      @@phaupt123 8mm on a 9 mm rope will work with additional wraps but ideally your hitch cord should be between 60 and 80 percent the size of your rappel rope for a more reliable hold. I would recommend 7mm eye to eye cord and try the schwabisch, distel, or our personal favorite: the Cornell hitch. We sell a 29” eye to eye cord that is 7mm on our website.

    Is the saddle designed for fall arrest and shock loading?

    • @WoodHuntingSaddles
      @WoodHuntingSaddles Год назад

      Hunting saddles are a form of fall restraint known as work positioning harnesses. They are not designed to arrest a fall because they do not contain a shock absorbing lanyard, or a dorsal connection point like a 5 point full body harness does. Correct use of a saddle allows no more than 12” of slack therefore limiting or eliminating the chance of a fall. However we were so confident in the strength of our builds that we put them through the FBH/FA drop tests and the saddles held in each scenario. We don’t want this interpreted as it makes them fall arresting, but we do hope it gives our customers a piece of mind knowing their saddles are well made. Thanks again for reaching out and happy hunting

    Thank you for the idea. I just started climbing SRT with basically same setup on the rope, except for the prusik backup. Where did you clip the carabiner from your eye to eye prusik to? The bridge on your saddle? Thank you!

    • @WoodHuntingSaddles
      @WoodHuntingSaddles Год назад

      In this video I hooked the hitch carabiner directly onto my bridge however if you are looking for less metal and noise potential, you can hook your friction hitch directly onto the carabiner on your gri gri (or Madrock). We will be releasing another video soon showing a different method of SRT climbing that is a little more advanced. It is more of a sit, stand advance, climb that utilizes the same components as this video along with the addition of a foot loop.

    • @WoodHuntingSaddles
      @WoodHuntingSaddles Год назад

      We agree that arms and legs would be a great addition to the testing dummy. The facility explained that to account for this the weight is differentiated between the lower and upper sections to "mirror" the weight balance of a human body.

      Which saddle are you running? Also play with your tether height some. A lower tether reduces the angle of pull [typically favored by leaners] which will shift some of the force towards your back, raising your tether height will increase your angle and allow more room for maneuverability but also shifts some of the tension under your thighs, this is often favored by sitters.

      Good Evening, Thank you for your feedback. We certainly appreciate the voice of each enthusiast out there and are open to communications. While I can attest that many products and materials utilized in making a quality hunting saddle are similar in nature, some subtle differences would be the shape design of our saddle, the materials used for our saddle chassis (no polyester seatbelt webbing), an adjustable bridge, as well as utilizing a 1 3/4 “ COBRA® buckles by AUSTRIALPIN™, not the ADF Raptor. I can advise that this is not an attempt to replicate or mock what is already done. It seems that you may be familiar with saddles and may utilize the mantis saddle, which is a great saddle. If that is what you enjoy then we highly encourage you to continue to hunt from that saddle. However, our saddle is definitely not the mantis if you would like the opportunity to get a feel for the product difference, we also encourage that. Our ultimate goal is to provide safe, durable, comfortable, and affordable elevated hunting products for the masses and strongly suggest hunters try a variety of manufacturers and options to find the hunting solution that fits them the best. Lastly, should our company even come close to matching the fan base of some of our more known competitors we would be honored. Again, thank you for watching our promo and providing feedback.
