I am about to start the adoption process and am so glad I found this video. Thank you to all the birth parents for being so open and honest. This should be essential viewing for all adoptive parents. I will carry your experiences and advice with me throughout my journey. Thank you again, I really respect your bravery!

The pain is indescribable. one of my 2 forcibly adopted children have found me. I got to celebrate her birthday with her today for the first time since she was 2. She is 19 now. She told me today she has never had a birthday cake, I don't know if this an adoptive mum thing because birth is associated with another woman tgats not them. My son and daughter both had severe mental health issues and tried to kill themselves because they thought I had rejected them. They have worked through this now but my son still won't talk to me. I have raised 4 children and there was some initially confusion, she thought I rejected her, there was nothing further from the truth. I know exactly where my kids are now and I can't tell you how much of a relief that is. I would have been so grateful for this support for those 16 years.

I would have been glad though if he was excited to see me like your mom does I pray you get love and joy and peace with your biological mom! Forgiveness is a blessing from God!

Thank you for sharing this. I don't know your circumstances but all I can tell you is it takes time. My daughter got in contact with me last year and I was over joyed. But it takes time, there are a lot of emotions going on. It has taken time for us to get to know each other and trust each other. It took alot for her to connect but she wanted to understand and know who she was and where she came from. It was easier because I have a younger daughter, so she has a little sister she could connect with and they were more on each other's waves length being of a similar age. We have all had a lot of emotions to process and it has got easier as time has gone on. We even tell each other we love each now, that was a big step in recognising she realises I'm not going anywhere ❤

People are exploitive, and can exploit adoption, it’s not inherently exploitative. In my case I came from an abusive family, and couldn’t return to them, so being placed into care and then adopted was the best for my situation and is the case for many others too.

I had my baby taken away in 1969. I was told it was for my own good, that she deserved better because I was not married and the adopting parents had a nice house with a lake and a pony, and they were married. So after 11 months of being bludgeoned that I was selfish for keeping her, I eventually caved in under the pressure and thought that maybe she did deserve a better life in a nice home - all I had was a one room bed sit. So they took her away. It was taken for granted I would get over it, so no support whatsoever. Six months later I had a complete nervous breakdown and attempted suicide. Through the years I have missed her terribly, especially on her birthday. This coming April she will be 54 years old. I am now 77. Mothers who weren’t married and had no support from their families - they lost their babies too. The scars of grief, rejection from society, mental breakdowns - takes years to get back on one’s feet. I am glad these girls have a place they can go to… the pain never goes away you see.

@@lizziesnailz7248 The very good news is that she did trace me, as I always updated my personal details (as in moves of address, tel number etc). It was an extra an ecstatic moment for both of us. Unfortunately, her adoptive mother did not take this well at all and a huge conflict developed for my daughter of loyalty. So our meetings sadly didn’t last . However, I will forever be grateful that she traced me, she had a good life and was healthy and well. She has three children of her own. Sometimes not everything turns out exactly as one would wish - but I have come to terms with the situation now. Xx

Plenty of people who now speak out. I was "removed" I'm now 50 and I don't know hardly anyone in my family. How much I weighed or much more than birth place..
