With initial conditions of a 100 by 100 lattice, with 95% of the PDF in the center four lattice points and 5% elsewhere. With stirring/advection functions round(10*sine^2(x*pi/100+y)).

Griffith didn't know Guts was listening.
I would think this scene encapsulates just how blinded Griffith was by his dreams and beliefs, that he's so busy saying shit that he fails to note how he actually feels. Not that surprising though, considering he hasn't had a friend like Guts, so it only makes sense that he's not quite used to the idea, and so he himself doesn't realize who he really considers his friend. He doesn't truly know what he has until it's gone.

He says all of that. And it sounds great on paper and shows a rather compelling argument, But he doesn’t honor that when Guts wanted to leave. And that is the hypocritical tragedy of Griffith.

Lives can be lost, more can be made. Although a dream, is neither of these. Once made up and sought after, it is either achieved or deferred. There is no “makeup” for a dream once it is finished in its own respective regard. Griffith realizes this and I’m willing to bet that to some extent it influences his feelings and opinions on his soldiers and men. There’s a level of mutual respect attained when someone else is fighting for their own cause and meaning of life as a whole, even if it means it’s conflicting or infringing upon your own dream.

It’s such a hard pill to swallow, this anime is one of the greatest I have ever seen. It’s such a bitter sweet end. Even if they continue, it’s not your mind and your story anymore. In another universe you’ve completed it. Even till this day I can’t manage to accept the fact that there’s no more pure greatness of this anime anymore. They’ve ruined the animation.
I think what makes his statements about friendship most tragic is that he doesn't really believe that. Its a strict definition he places on himself so he doesn't feel pain when he loses someone to his ambition.
