Trailer winch, 4x4 use, and stability of 2022 Yamaha VX Cruiser TR-1
I like to get on the ski, turn it on and then tie it up. I don't like getting wet and then getting my truck. I can usually get my ski off and back on the trailer with only getting just above my ankles wet. This is especially important to me since I only run in salt water.
@@gpaje I still can’t figure out how to do that 😂 unless I step on the hood which I believe would break
PRAISE JESUS NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES, thanks
Dude great to know I have a 2023 fx cruiser ho and it smells like a Bleve going to happen, i spoke with the dealer and i got some info as to whom to contact. I will investigate . I brought to a Yamaha dealer 2 times and they can smell the gas but gave me some lame excuse as to jet skis do this and to burp it . I laughed . I worked at a fire dept 30 years full time and have seen some explosions and i said i am just documenting the lack of care of investigation on there part . I will be contacting the head of Yamaha . I was a captain for 15 of those years being active and explained to them you will be correcting this regardless of not seeing anything . We have more then one sence in investigation such as smell. If it smell like shit it is shit. Think about it what is the spec difference in problem solving from a half a year, NOTHING
@@rushabs1719 good point and glad to hear you have extensive knowledge in this area. Good luck with that too, and I hope the ski is good.
If it counts, the Waverunner engines are a lot more like an outboard engine by design (compared to standard inboard engines from Mercruiser or Volvo) , plus i dont think they have an alternator to create any spark. The smell is one thing, but the safety i believe is still there..
I have a 18ft sailboat in my garage right now
I did see a smaller pontoon that I would consider that would definitely fit in mine but still have that “fear” that I’d be on it myself a lot cuz wife gets scared of water and kids are now teens who might be like “na, I’m good, hearing out”😂
Elevation plays a big part in the performances of the TR-1 powered VX. Mine, a 24 VX Limited TR-1 eng, does 7800 rpm / 51 mph on glass / low wind at sea level, and 7000 rpm / 43 mph (same conditions) at 4500 ft elevation. Super disappointed with the later, since that is where we keep and use the unit. If I had known this, I would have purchased the HO (1.9 liter) instead... Arg!!
That makes sense with naturally aspirated engines but I can say I’m satisfied with an average of 51-55 mph on a wave runner 😂. It feels like 90 and fast enough for me👍🏽
Use only Yamalube marine oil, DO NOT USE MOBIL ONE!! these guy is an idiot!!!
This has to be the worst video I've ever seen ,maybe get some knowledge your self before trying to teach

Have same ski tr1 I smell gas even dad said was strong
I smell gas wtf
@@michaelstanton556 gasoline or gas vapors? If vapors, always keep the seat off for ventilation. Or, take seat off for a few mins just prior to starting it on the water. The culprit is faulty wiring that ignites the vapor build up. Vapor build up is normal as the gas tank is also under the seat. The smell of raw gas in liquid form, means leaking gas. The big problem is if there’s any faulty wiring causing spark in the engine bay
@redrightreturn1085 Dad and I took the seat off tonight waited a little bit and I couldn't smellDad and I took the seat off tonight waited a little bit and I couldn't smell anything.
@@michaelstanton556 yes it will always smell like gas vapors if the seat is left on, however, if all components inside the w home bar are not corroded etc, just vent the engine bay before starting, if you smell raw gas, like if you spilled it in the garage, then don’t start it and get it looked at. Most of the time the gas itself leaks from the fill nozzle from pushing the gas nozzle in to hard and breaking that seal inside, or, the top of the gas tank where that silver plate is (fuel pump) I definitely don’t want to cause alarm as your ski may be fine nuts build up of vapors

I don't mean to sound like an asshole but everything you said in this video is wrong you really need to take it down redo it with the right information
@@Strangerthingsvehicles list all that’s wrong. I’ve been changing oil in engines for years. An oil change is an oil change and in a wave runner you suck it out and still change the filter. I’m dying to hear the extreme list of wrong information I provided 🤦🏽♂️
@@redrightreturn1085 for starters you were trying to drain the oil from the head not from the big yellow dipstick area then you try to suck oil from a PCV hose not the oil hose next to it
@@Strangerthingsvehicles anyone who watches this video, in full, WILL successfully change the oil without incident in this unit. If you are referring to some of the trial and error that was done AND caught live, that’s still not wrong info. 1) the fogging oil is for winterizing the engine, and lubing components 2) i pointed out the flush, dipstick fill, and crankcase fill. 3) oil viscosity will break down faster with higher RPMs, 4) keeping the seat off is how you avoid mold building up in the hull.
@@Strangerthingsvehicles you clearly had RUclips shorts attention span on this one. Skip a lot and miss a lot. Read my response and watch it again. Nothing was wrong information just some trial and error caught live and still done successfully
heads up: do not beach the ski on any sand bar !, this will ruin the haul, which brings the re-sale value down if you decide to sell or trade it in ?. get your hands on an anchor with a short rope, stay about 2-3 feet off the sand bar. drop the anchor there. also...never, ever..start the ski in less than 2 ft of water ?, you will suck up sand, rocks into the intake, will be a bad day then..lol.
I was surprised the other day mines hit 50mph I. Happy with that

@@NoPrxssure ya…. I know 🤣 I mainly drive it out to a fishing spot, fish for a few hours anchored, then wide open throttle it around the lake and go home. Not much long trip adventures……. Yet😎
nothing odd to me about it ?, my '15 fx ho cruiser only has about 25-30 hrs tops ?. i stay busy alot, not much time to ride, summers are when i am busy the most.
I wish! In Georgia we have to have one driving one watching and the me tubing you can’t drive and watch idk why
@@andysangels1970 yes, definitely hard to do all👍🏽🤣
most states require to have driver, spotter when you are pulling someone on a tube, no idea why these ski owners don't know the law..oh well..lol.
@@redrightreturn1085 you are '' suppose '' to have a spotter while pulling a tube or skier at all times in most states. reason: this lets the driver watch where they are going ?, and the spotter can tell the driver the person being pulled has went down, safety reasons !.
@@alanshaw4655 didn’t know that. I am grandfathered in to not have a boater safety cert, however, I watched one on RUclips that covered floatation devices, markers, water, safety and “rules of the road” and nothing covered spotters for pulling but thanks for the insight
@@redrightreturn1085 also your ski must fit everyone. If you have a 3 seater you can’t have a driver and 2 people on tube the one on the tube needs to fit on the ski you can’t be over capacity
you do not need a 4wd to launch a jetski. i will agree with the car part..yeah..just don't..lol. i never beach my ski on any sand, nor do i let it get near any rocks.
@@alanshaw4655 I don’t know on the non 4x4 thing😬 I always see front wheel drive vans/SUV’s or rear wheel drive trucks spin and roast tires on the ramp every time I go out. One Titan that was 2 wheel drive had to let the boat go and pull out while I hooked up his trailer and pulled his boat out in 4x4. It’s possible but darn risk😬
@@redrightreturn1085 lol, well, my 2wd , reg cab silverado handles boat launches just fine. here's a tip..don't back way the heck down in the water !. sounds like to me, these folks don't know how to drive huh ?..lol.
@@alanshaw4655 most don’t but these ramps are on such an angle to where the trailer wheels get half submerged depending on the water levels which is always, rear wheels in the water . 😎
I just replaced the impeller and we’re ring and it’s only going 47 any idea
@@anthonydevoe6050 geez. I do know those wear rings are exactly that, “wear” like break pads, but I thought that was after maybe a few years and in salt water
My goal is not to get wet when getting my waverunner off the trailer lol
lol..isn't the whole reason to ride a jet ski is to get wet ?, i mean...you are going to be on the water...sooo....GET WET !...LOL.
I got the HO model & while it's a blast I believe that the 3 cylinder is more than enough. after 40 mph you are flying !! Unless the water is smooth you are limited from 30-45. I do not know if the 3 cylinder could tow an inflatable though I would imagine it could.
I actually tow a Slice inflatable to pull the kids on. Works just fine and doesn’t seem stressed👍🏽😎
My VX with the tr1 went 63
Nice! 55 on 1/4 tank and by myself is the best mine ever did. Is yours the 4cyl? Mine is the 1049 cc 3 cyl
Is this the tr1 or 1900cc
Yes, the TR1 1050cc

and i used to watch stupid stuff like this
Old TV was so lame
Is that incoming or outgoing? INCOMING!!!!😮
That is the fastest mortar adjustment in history
Is it normal if the exhaust starts steaming ??
Yes, that is the actual exhaust smoke😎👍🏽
The red lense does come off. You have to use a screw driver to pry it off. It's not easy because dirt and corrosion makes it stick together, but it does come right off the black plastic backing. Then of course it's easy to change the bulbs.
Oh ya, I got motivated the next time and found that out 🤣🤦🏽♂️
I wait till no one is looking. Then dock.
🤣👍🏽
😂😂😂 That Always a good plan! 😂
@@scotthooper4170 🤣👍🏽
My manual says to grease the intermediate housing, I can’t find the grease nipple. Just curious if you found a way to grease the bearing?
And the manual doesn’t show an image or location of the grease fitting? Thats odd, now I’m going to check my manual. Usually, grease fittings are for ball joints for cars to keep them greased but ya got me on that one.
Bought brand new waverunner went to break it in , didn’t do any fully throttling just cruising , after a couple hours heading back to the dock when in idle smoke coming out from under but when you hit the gas a little it’s stops and come back when you let off . Is that normal ?
That’s just exhaust smoke. You will see it when you flush the engine in your driveway with the hose and engine flush nipple. Now, when you say “from under” does that mean from the step area in the back, under the seats, or under the hull that sits in the water? If coming from the back of the wave runner, that’s the exhaust.
Welp im out! If you can stand on it without falling off the fun factor is gone for me! 😂
🤣👍🏽
Thank you for teaching me 🙏👍
Happy to help
I Don't think one minut is enugh !
Even for fresh water? This was after being on the lake not salt water
I have to correct you on something. The term “jet ski” is trademarked by Kawasaki (similar as to how Yamaha terms theirs ‘Waverunner’”.
I’ve been schooled on this a few times since I made this 🤣👍🏽
Hey, you didn’t HAVE to make this video- but you did and I’m glad. I certainly appreciate the helpful tips. New jet ski owner and I’ve never launched by myself before.
We all have to learn somehow, as did I with RUclips videos👍🏽 thanks for the comment.
Hope you got pizza after

Hello! Have you had the recall performed? I’m wondering if the pics you’re showing (at 1:54) are before or after the recall has been done? I got a used 2022 unit just a few weeks ago and cannot confirm if the previous owner took care of the recall. According to the official recall notice, the tech is supposed to mark a letter F on the label inside the hull. Mine does not have it but what if they forgot to mark it. Thanks for any insight you can provide!
The TSB I am not sure of, however, I do know shoving the gas nozzle in to hard will compromise that seal, and, the gasket between the gas tank and round metal ring at this point in the video are known for the gas leak. You will smell gasoline, not vapors and it’s not a lot of units effected
