Just Chilling And Crafting New Weapons | Episode 12
Sorry for missing my upload...have not been too successful with my new schedule, but that's okay, I will work towards meeting that schedule over the weekend. In this episode, we smelt up our resources from our previous mining expenditure and go on another mining expenditure!! Lots of mining for sure, but still enjoyable! Thank you for any comments!

In this episode, we really take on the grind. This is an hour and some of me mining, fighting, and gathering tons of resources! Not much special about this episode, but it's necessary to progress. Thank you to all those who tune in and leave a comment below!

In this episode we start the GRIND! Sounds exciting, but it's just the bronze age, where we will need to find and mine tin and copper to make bronze! I've come to realize we'll need a ton of those materials so I'm looking to do a timelapse. Let me know how that sounds in the comments below!!

Hopefully, there will be some more productivity in the next episode, but let me know if I should get that new weapon before I go dungeon hopping.
Exploring And Finding the Location of the Elder | Episode 5

In this video we do some casual exploration and dungeon looting in hopes of finding some clues for the next elder. Luckily we stumbled upon a runestone which gives us some wonderful information, however, it seems we will need a raft to reach the location. I had no idea about what I'd need for a raft, so we will have to work on that in the next episode. As always, any advice in the comments is w...

We do a lot in this episode, including building a mehhh creeper farm, which I wasn't too excited about. I will probably upgrade this farm by making more towers with even more levels next to the farm. We started this episode with adding some more details to the house. Then we worked slightly on the farm project, and even spent some time in the end busting for a ton of great loot.

    Yes the first 2 biomes (Meadows & Black Forest) are considered to be the easier biomes, later biomes will add more challenge, but you will be able to find new food items, new ores etc, and new recipes/upgrades to help you get stronger. You were levelling the ground with the hoe, try using the pathen option on the hoe this just gives you a flatter path that makes pulling the cart easier. You need more bronze and tin to upgrade your cooking facilities and start some farming giving you options for new food, better foods will give you more health and stamina. You unlock stone builds with materials found in the 3rd biome, so it's not so far off :)

      @SnolphGames 21 час назад

      Ooh thank you! Yeah, I think on my list before fighting the Elder are the food items, the port, and trying to get something useful out of the fermenter for the fight.

  • @jaydalonas6569
    @jaydalonas6569 3 дня назад

    The stone tower with the skeletons would make an excellent temp base, stick a door on the front and a roof at the top of the tower and you are sheltered and secure. Even wood houses in the meadows can be repaired and used, that way when out travelling you always have spots where you can replenish your rested bonus. It was great to see you use the small structure you found like this, you repaired your cart and tools and reset your rested buff, doing great The cart is great for storage when out mining, but it's cumbersome on rough terrain, plus it's heavier as you fill it so it's worth taking the hoe with you and as you are walking use it to flatten the ground ahead of you (use the pathen option in the hoe menu). The path will make it much easier to pull the cart (the hoes are cheap to make even if you make an extra one and leave it in the cart for convenience). @davidareeves is right, the grind also includes more dungeons, the Surtling Cores especially will give you more options as you now have the tools and recipes needed for another advancement. I know in the beginning it feels very grindy, but I think this initial grind with the dungeons and copper/tin etc, always seems the worse, later as you have items to help it won't feel so bad. Fine Wood from the birch/oak trees are harder to get as there are fewer of them around (unless you replant them with seeds), this wood is used for furniture and other things, so always empty the fine wood out of your inventory when filling your kiln, as the kiln will take any wood you have on you (including fine wood and core wood).

      No, I was so mad when I saw that tower after setting up in that shack.. Will try to keep a hoe in the cart...I didn't know they got damaged until I kept hearing the cart make noises. I'm not mad at the early grind at all so will love to hit up those dungeons!

    Furniture items extend the length of your rested bonus, so adding a deerhide rug next to your bed gives you an extra minute, make a small table and add a banner above your bed, all these will increase the duration of the rested. You do need more chests, if you use the small floor piece (1x1) above one of the chests you have placed, the game recognises this as a floor and you can place another chest on this floorpiece, allowing you to stack chests. Copper goes deep into the ground, think of a mushroom shape, large flat top that tapers down, in multiplayer it's worth digging them out, but in single player if you have enough copper deposits in your area of the Black Forest, then just mining the top of the copper should be enough for what you need, it's something to think about. Don't bother with the Cartography table, it's a way to share areas you have explored with your friends in multiplayer. When you come to build a ship, make sure you make the Karve and not the raft, the raft is pretty useless for lengthy journeys. Now you have opened portals check them out, it will give you interesting travel options. Don't forget the cultivator and the cooking pot, better foods will help with health and stamina. You are progressing well though and it's fun to watch.

    Another trick. 17:00 When smelting, you can stock up the kiln and smelter at night before bed, sleep, and all done in morning ;) Does not matter which ores you place inside the Smelter either, you can have tin copper and any others, they all get done one at a time in order into ingot Copper ingot + Tin ingot is made into Bronze ingots at t your smelting table

  • @jaydalonas6569

    Gz on the Troll kill. Troll armor is pretty good and if levelled up will easily take you into the 3rd biome, it's lighter and less cumbersome than the Bronze armor and it also has the sneak bonus. It can save you on some of the grind mining for copper, but then it's also a grind to find Trolls and kill enough of them to get all the armor and enough Troll leather to upgrade the pieces. So the decision is yours, which grind you prefer :) Make the Cultivator and Cauldron as well as getting the Bronze Axe and whatever weapon/shield you want. The Axe will let you cut down trees that were previously too hard (opening new recipes), the cultivator and cauldron will open new food options which will give you more health and stamina. I look forward to the next episode.

    The Trader is always found in a Black Forest, it just may not be in the Black Forest on your starter Island! Don't worry, you have to go to another Black Forest later anyway to find the Elder, with luck you may find the Trader there. Ghosts are not susceptible to blunt damage like the skeletons, I usually take them out with a bow or spear, but the Stagbreaker still worked okay, even if it did take a lot of hits to kill it. You weren't trippin, you needed the workbench at leavel 2 to be able to repair the Stagbreaker. Nice dungeon runs and you got the cores you needed, it's still worth running more dungeons, surtling cores are useful for something else later, plus you can pick up treasures to sell to the Trader (when you find him), you will need the gold to buy items he sells. Now is the grindy part of the game, mining enough copper and tin is going to take you a while. I enjoyed the episode :)

    The sitting log you made does extend the length of time of your rested bonus, but only if it's inside! You have a fire in your main base so it's worth setting the log up in there (you can also cook inside your base). Other furniture items like a rug/trophies/tables etc, will also add plus 1 to your rested bonus. More furniture recipes will open later and again add to your comfort when placed in your base. So you met your first Troll, yes you can kill them, kite them around while using your bow (fire or flint arrows will do more damage). Obviously Trolls are powerful and if they get close enough to hit you they will do a lot of damage/kill you. Greydwarf nests can be chopped down with a weapon (club, axe, torch) you can even use the Stagbreaker as it will push back any enemies that continue to spawn while you are trying to destroy the nest. The Shaman poison can kill you, if you are low on health or they poison you more than once, Valheim has enemies/terrain that have elemental damage like poison, frost/freezing, extreme heat etc, but the game also gives you ways to counteract these, again you need to progress a little more and find the materials. Glad you got your beehive up, you will be really happy with the stamina honey gives you, it's worth getting a couple more hives if you can, as honey is used throughout the game in different recipes. Valheim is not as simple a game as it first appears, there is a lot to learn, but you are doing really well and I hope enjoying it as much as we enjoy watching you discover the game.

    You started off without the rested bonus, don't forget it gives you +50% Health Regen, +100% Stamina Regen while it's active so you should try to always have this buff. Enemies in Valheim use sight and hearing to locate you, so when you cut trees or mine, anything nearby will hear you and come over. A tip for the greydwarves, they are scared of fire, so if you bring out your torch they will run away, the torch is also recognised as a blunt weapon, so you can hit them with it and set them on fire. If you die in a dungeon (or anywhere in the open) you drop your gear and weapons and respawn at your bed. In the small castle like structures where you usually find several greydwarves, when you go in check behind the door, there is sometimes a chest there. Nice getting Core Wood, the Stagbreaker is an aoe weapn that can be great in dungeons, you can actually use it outside closed doors and it will kill mobs on the other side of the door (2 or 3 swings will kill most things). You find Tin in the Black Forest but by the coast you find it along the shores. You get the rested buff by sitting by a campfire (press X on your keyboard).

    • @SnolphGames
      @SnolphGames 15 дней назад

      Omg, I need to check my controls. I've never sat in the game. Thank you so much!! And that explains the how the horde found me! I will definitely use fire next time for those greydwarves!

  • @jaydalonas6569
    @jaydalonas6569 17 дней назад

    You struggled with stamina when fighting the Greydwarves because you no longer had the rested buff, so stamina regen is much slower, if you keep 5 stone and some wood on you when you go out, you can pop down a campfire anywhere and sit by it to get a new rested buff. Also don't forget your beehive, honey is a great stamina food and also needed for later recipes. You have found the location of the Elder, but it doesn't mean that he is on the same Island as you, sailing to discover new areas is a big part of the game. Don't rush to the Elder, you need to explore the Black Forest and hit the all the dungeons to get enough cores for the smelter and kiln, smelt copper and tin to get better armour/weapons. The Mountain is the 4th Biome, you are not ready for it and will just die continuously, losing a lot of the skill points you are building. There is an AOE weapon that will help with the dungeons, but you haven't found the material yet to build it, check out the different trees in the Black Forest, there is one that will give you a new type of wood. Valheim is quite linear in progression, but in between the biomes you need time to gather and upgrade, for instance the carrot seeds you found will give you much better food, but again until you farm all the mats in the BF and move into Bronze with smelting, you can't access the upgrades for weapons/food. If you just rush to the next boss without preparation, you will struggle as the bosses get progressively harder as you move on. Great episode, it's fun to watch you explore.

    The game does not recognise floor pieces as a roof, so your base will take water damage, try using the peaked roof pieces. You can also build a ladder(s) to reach higher when building (you can stack ladders on top of each other to reach where you need). Smoke damage is a thing in Valheim, so when placing a fire inside your base, you need to make sure it has ventilation for the smoke to escape, a chimney of sorts, but it also needs to be sheltered so rain does not put out the fire. There are no seasons as such in Valheim, although you do get rain and/or storms in the Meadows, you will never have a winter season of snow and ice. As you move on and explore other biomes you will find many have different weather options. You need better tools to take down a Birch tree, different trees will give you other types of wood and open new recipes, so worth remembering to try cutting down any new trees you see. As @gheorgcris7661 said, the mic volume was very low so it was difficult to hear what you were saying.

      Thank you! I will put some roof pieces above those floors. And do you think my window is enough for smoke or should I switch it up. And I'm about to see if I can fix it this morning. I was out until midnight unexpectedly so I didn't get to it yesterday. If I can fix it, I'll have the video out tonight.

      @@SnolphGames You made your home quite tall, so the smoke will rise and maybe sit there a while before disappearing and before causing damage (or the window may be enough ventilation). The only way to check is when you are near your bed be sure to check if you are taking smoke damage (it shows up like a debuff next to the minimap) and your characters health will start to tick down. You are a content creator and we are viewers, we watch an episode when it's released, if you stayed out until midnight or even 2 a.m. and don't post for a day or two is up to you, I like the content and I will watch when you decide to post, don't let others dictate your schedule!😉 I look forward to the next episode whenever it drops.

    Happy Birthday 🎁🎉and gz on the Eikthyr kill. To use the Eikthyr buff you press F on your keyboard, the buff lasts 5 mins and has a cooldown of 15 mins. The buff reduces the stamina cost of running and jumping so It's worth using when you need that extra stamina (like running away from enemies, or it's late evening and you are running back to your base). The hoe will flatten the area based on where you are stood, it will try to flatten to the level of ground the player is standing on, if you press the 'shift' key when using the hoe, it will then try to flatten to the area you are aiming at. The pick will also allow you to dig out places and then use the hoe to flatten out, terrain manipulation isn't infinite though, there are limits. The best way to learn how to build in Valheim is to do exactly what you are doing, just have a go and eventually you work it out, or if you prefer there are some great building vids out there for starter homes. Building in Valheim is colour coded - Blue = grounded i.e. safe to build from, the further away from the ground you build the colours change to show stability - so blue to green to yellow to orange to red (varying shades in between e.g. lighter green etc). When you place something and it is red (usually a roof) this means you have reached your max stability, adding anything further will just break the piece. With the hammer you can actually make wood piles and stone piles, so to save on storage when you have a stack of 50 stone or wood, you can actually make a pile and just have it outside your home/base. The workbench works in two ways, outside with no roof it just allows you to build/deconstruct/repair structures. Inside with a roof it's then a crafting bench where you can craft/upgrade/repair your gear. Great episode, I look forward to seeing your completed build.

    The queen bee is the material needed to make a beehive, so if you deconstruct the one you placed inside your home you will get the queen back and can build the hive again (you can still put it on the wall of your house - as long as it's outside and away from your fire. I agree you need a bigger base, the tiny starter home is great for the first few nights, but you are going to need quite a bit of storage, as you can see there is a lot of materials you gather in Valheim. Craft the Hoe, this will allow you to manipulate the terrain, it let's you flatten/raise ground and helps when making a base. Storage boxes don't stack, to get round this you can add the small floor piece (1 x 1) above a chest, the game recognises this as another floor and will let you place another chest on it. Yes you should try to have 3 meals going at all times, different foods give you different options shown as 'fork' icons on the food item. Red Fork = focus on health, Yellow Fork = focus on stamina, White Fork = a more balanced meal of both health and stam. Enemies in Valheim are susceptible to different types of damage like pierce/slash/blunt/spirit etc, so even though you are not using the club now, it's worth getting your skill up with that as well as the spear - the skeletons you ran into are susceptible to blunt damage. So try to look out for the damage numbers, if they show white or grey the enemy is not susceptible to the damage you are inflicting, they still take damage, but if you are using the correct weapon, the damage numbers will show up in yellow - meaning you do higher damage with the weapon used. I am trying to give tips without any spoilers as I don't want to spoil the exploration/discovery parts of the game for you, so I will give tips on questions you ask, or on enemies you encounter. I look forward to your next episode :)

      Wow, thank you so much! I will likely be fighting Eikthyr and starting to build a larger base in the next episode, so thank you so much for the chest and hoe tips! I really thought the hoe was just for farming so I didn't even look at it. I really thought the forks were for how good the food is, but that makes so much more sense lol. And thank you for the damage tip! That makes logical sense, especially for the skeletons, so I appreciate that! Thank you again for answering all my questions while also allowing me to learn and discover the game for myself! I really appreciate all that effort and time!

    I love watching new players experiencing Valheim. I'm sure you will get a load of tips from people (and there are many, many videos out there on this subject), but here are a few simple ones that may help you start; 1. Build a roof over the fire to stop it going out when it rains. With no fire, you can't get the rested bonus. However, you need plenty of space to vent the smoke or that will cause it to go out as well (or damage you if it is inside your building). 2. Always make sure you are rested. If you lose your rested bonus your health and stamina recovery will be horrendous. You can place a simple fire anywhere to get a brief rested bonus. This increases if you are sheltered (under cover). If you are cold or wet, this also reduces your recovery. 3. Nastier creatures spawn at night and you are more likely to encounter tougher versions (one-star or two-star creatures). They are tougher, do more damage, but give more resources. You can tell them by the fact they look slightly different (in the case of boars and deer), or are a different colour and sometimes bigger in the case of monsters. 4. Always repair your gear. When you are using any crafting station, if you see a flashing hammer icon to the left of the menu, it means you have items that can be repaired there. Click it until everything is repaired that can be. 5. When you die, don't rush out to get your gear immediately. Make sure you eat first and are rested. 6. Watch your weight allowance. If you exceed your carrying limit you will become encumbered and stop regenerating stamina. You will automatically pick up resources you walk over unless you have no more space in your inventory or picking them up would make you encumbered. Have fun!

      Most definitely, there is just something about the early game, exploring, discovery and the first time through is such a treat. OMG "timber" death is a thing, argh 30:00 you can use the middle mouse button to throw a spear to shoot say the deer, then retrieve the spear afterwards

    1. You can adjust the world modifiers at any time in the load screen. You can turn the death penalty down but I don't actually recommend turning it off as it can be useful to have a gravestone and know where you were when you died. 2. I remapped the deconstruct on the hammer from the middle mouse button to one of the extra thumb buttons. Personal preference. 3. Repairing is free. Look at the flashing square on the workbench menu. The hammer can also repair build pieces. 4. Every problem this game still has, has been solved by a fan who made a mod. Adding mods is super easy with a mod manager like r2modman. Just saying if you want certain things like area-repair or separate inventory slots for your armor, you can have those things. 5. Not all seeds are created equal. The best world I've played is N2n5ksTXJL Good hunting. May the wind be always at your back.

    A workbench is used to construct/deconstruct buildings, so for the beehive, if you set up a workbench and just destroy the structure (use middle mouse button to deconstruct whilst having the hammer equipped). The hive should drop with nothing to support it, giving you access to the bees/honey without being stung. Honey is a great starter food for stamina, it's also used in later recipes in game, so worth grabbing a few beehives. Buffs/Debuffs - These show up in the right hand corner of the screen (next to your minimap). The 'rested' buff in Valheim is very important as it gives you +50% Health Regen, +100% Stamina Regen and +50% Experience while the buff is active, you gain this buff by sitting by a fire and/or being sheltered and within range of a fire. Debuffs such as being 'wet' or 'cold' show up exactly the same way (next to your minimap) but these will apply a reduction to your health/stamina regeneration. A lot of Valheim weapons have a secondary action (using the middle mouse button) so the spear you have can be thrown when hunting deer. A fun first episode :)
