Half life 3 must be good if they taking over 10 years

R&C Going Commando and Deadlocked were always my favorite games in the series. Growing up, I ended up collecting all the R&C games on PS2, wherever we could find them. Most of the games we ended up collecting were always used copies, so we were no stranger to disks being scratched up beyond playability. R&C 1, 2, Deadlocked, and Size Matters all worked perfectly, but the copy of R&C 3 we got was not only missing the case, but it also looked like it was used as a Frisbee at some point. It played fine up until the Holo-Disk mission you have to play to jog Quark's memory. You'd start the Holo-Disk, and the system would freeze on the loading screen, every single time, without fail. It also did this on several of the multiplayer maps, but in this case, the story was more important. So, I mostly played R&C 2 and Deadlocked. R&C 1 and Size Matters were played significantly less than the other 2. I played Deadlocked way more than Going Commando, I even had a save going on the hardest difficulty that I'd fully played through 4 times over. If challenge mode kept going higher after each completion, I'd have been on New Game +++. At some point, we just got rid of our copy of R&C 3 as it was just unplayable, and Size Matters, as we just never played it. Never could find another copy of R&C 3 anytime we looked for new games. Years later, when I had a PS3 and access to the internet, anytime I'd find people talking about PS2 era R&C games, I'd always be confused how people always seemed to WORSHIP R&C 3, find 2 to be "forgettable", and that Deadlocked was the black sheep that "We don't talk about." Anytime I'd bring up how much I loved Going Commando or Deadlocked, I'd always get shot down with something equivalent of: "Yeah, but Up your Arsenal was way better." Eventually, I got the HD collection for PS3, and was finally able to fully play R&C 3, and... it did not live up to the hype that people gave it. But don't worry, I made sure I got my money's worth, got the Platinum trophy for it and everything. (not that that was hard to do.) And currently, I don't really remember anything about Up your Arsenal. No joke. At the time, I never even knew that Deadlocked also got ported to the PS3. But, honestly, I'm glad I didn't. Seeing all the issues it has, like animation frame skipping in cutscenes, misplaced cameras in cutscenes (12:34 being a common clip), and downright abysmal framerate issues. R.I.P. any poor soul who decided to try the shock mod on the Dual Vipers. Anyways, I'm just so glad that Ratchet: Deadlocked has finally been getting the appreciation it deserves. Not just from you, but other Content Creators who've also talked about their love for the game.

Episode 4: YES! THIS!!! I don’t know if the writers at Sanzaru were trying to make Penelope a “better” character or if they just hated the Bentley/Penelope pairing, but the fact they made her a backstabbing villain with an excuse as stupid and idiotic as Fiona Fox’s (Sonic the Hedgehog in the Archie Comics) excuse for being a “bad guy” because she’s into “bad boys”, which is ALSO dumb! I’ve seen ideas from fans about how she should’ve been written, mostly being brainwashed, which makes a bit MORE sense than Penelope being a full blown villain with a bs excuse! There was also a missed opportunity to have Penelope be written as a full on playable character with new moves and more potential, not to mention the moments where she and Carmelita can get to know each other as gal pals and help the inspector with her relationship problems, because SOMEBODY should’ve at least knocked some sense into that fox’s head instead of writing her as a petty and spiteful b*tch with a vendetta against Sly for lying to her, to BE WITH HER! In case Carmelita never realized it, Sly just basically gave up his life as a thief to be a “modern citizen” FOR HER! Also, if we’re gonna talk about Le Paradox as well, him stealing the Cooper Canes is BEYOND stupid! Why? Because JUST like how ClockWerk stole the Thievious Racoonus in Sly 1 (he and the Fiendish Five stole some pages), Le Paradox stealing the canes (his gang solely stealing a cane from each ancestor and him just taking the credit and glory for their works and efforts) wouldn’t change anything BECAUSE: “It doesn’t take the Thievious Racoonus or the Cooper Canes to make master thieves, it takes great thieves to make the Thievious Racoonus and Cooper Canes.” Le Paradox’s “reasons and excuses” is a STRAIGHT UP rehashed, recycled and reused plan of CLOCKWERK’S, straight up pulling a “Clock-Dox”! His plans made Neyla’s look somewhat understandable! And he’s not even a “Master Villain”, he’s MORE like some underling minion, using tricks and cheats to get what he wants for himself or his master. In other words, Le Paradox is a joke of a “Final Villain”. The overall story writing and character stories are BEYOND STUPID! On top of that, Sanzaru made NUMEROUS plot holes that were NEVER ANSWERED, thus leaving the game UNFINISHED. And their excuses are DUMB. Have the staff at SuckPunch do a complete overhaul on Thieves in Time with the rewriting on the plot and characters, make the game ENJOYABLE instead of making it sound like an AWFUL fanfic written by a Nice Guy! I’d play the game again because the animation, gameplay, voice acting and music are great, but not for the stories and whatever!

I already complained about the story plot and character stories, so I wanna at LEAST give Sanzaru the benefit of the doubt and give them credit for some things. Bringing back the voice actors for the main characters, having Gery Delisle as the voice of Carmelita (She voiced Daphne, along with other characters), they brought in the music composer from the past Sly games, most of the mini games were fun, the "Powers and abilities" gimmicks for each of the characters were fun to play, I loved the creativity of Sanzaru implimenting the PS Vita as a form of "Metal detector" for finding the special treasures, the graphics and animations were very much improved, Sly's disguises are more functional with different abilities, playing Bentley's mini games felt like a nostalgic moment with his one time game in Sly 1, the levels were beautifully done, the return of bottle collecting, new mask collectibles, mission replayability and we got to play as Sly's ancestors for each level. I mean, I'm not happy about how the game turned out in the end, with a "Twist/Notsotwist Villain", final boss and overall story and character plots...Like why? As I see it, the game feels like an unfinished comic series that got cancelled near the end of the story. (Looking at you Archie Comics, cancelling the story due to a court case, continued with a reboot and cancelled it again because of certain reasons....So "Thanks" for that...SMH) If ONE of the Sly games HAD to be redone, rewritten and rebooted, it'd be Thieves in Time. I'm not happy about how the characters were written in here, especially Carmelita and Penelope, the villains and ESPECIALLY Le Paradox. Like SERIOUSLY?! A SKUNK!? We've had Dr.M who's a WAY better villain than Le Paradox! Hell, I'd even pick Clock-La over Le Paradox as "Top Villain in All of the Sly Games", and she's a plot twist villain NOBODY wanted or cared! Le Paradox just looks more like a minor villain if anything, maybe even a minion! We're SUPPOSED to take this skunk guy "Seriously" as this "Master thief", but his origin is a loose copy and paste version of Clockwerk, down to him trying to erase the Cooper family line. BUT NOPE! He just decides at the second to LAST level that he wants to be "Ruler of the World" with forged papers left in the past...What a surprise. Which is it, Sanzaru!? Do you want Le Paradox to erase the Cooper family line when he's a lame hack of a thief, or do you WANT him to be a "Ruler of the World" villain type?! Either or, not at the last second! BUT...If I had to pick one good thing out of everything in this game by Sanzaru: It's the 2D animation. I SAY this because Sanzaru's the same studio that made the Buddist Monkey and Flippy segments from Happy Tree Friends KAPOW, which sadly never continued or was just one of those limited shorts thing. The animation was great though, and something I expected the animators at Sanzaru to pull off beautifully. Also gotta point out something quick...Sly DID tell Carmelita what was going on and WHY he needed to steal the Japanese artifact...To why the fox sent a SHOCK BLAST at his hand in ANGER! And after that, she's EXACTLY you described her for almost the entire game: A salty EX girlfriend. Honestly, I think Sly should've just moved on instead of trying to "Talk things out". Because if your love interest isn't even interested in hearing your explanations like an adult, and just acts like a salty little kid who had a tantrum and isn't speaking to anybody until they either given a treat or praised, then the relationship isn't worth fixing or saving, let alone continue being in!

the major problem at this point is 20-30 years and wgi knows how many more is too many. i'm almost 40 and some people who played the game back then are in their 50-60s. and even gaben himself with his body composition is walking on a thin ice here. people die, you know. i don't care about revolutionarity of the game - just give me a well designed shooter with solid story. hl and hl2 endings are open enough but not cliffhangers - do that. hl2e2 ending is just unacceptable. i'm not even sure there's a possibility to revolutionize gaming without completely changing the tech which isn't happening, or at least you can't bet it is. gaming effectively peaked 10-15 years ago. not it's about three or so thing - good writing, good game design, good polish. create your game with passion and you're good - look at witcher 3, nier automata, kindgom come deliverance, rdr2, elden ring, even cp77. therse aren't even necessarily perfect in every aspect so there's room for improvement, but damn they are impactful. in fact these games do to me and give me what starcraft, morrowind and halflife 2 used to do and to give.

I get all the hate for HL:A but I enjoyed it greatly. It felt like an acknowledgement that Half Life is still in their minds, and they did a bit of lore adjusting to reposition for a continuation that is not in line with epistle 3. I know it feels like a big cop-out to have (SPOILERS) Time travel undo what happened at the end of EP 2, but do you really think they could continue the story with the combine getting interdimensional travel from Eli's brain? It's game over no matter how you slice it. Them undoing it feels like a promise that they aren't remotely done with Half Life imo.

It's really fun seeing a newer wave of people discovering this game I've been a fan of since it first came out. Really a life changing game for anyone who plays it.

in a lot of ways videogames are a form of art, and until valve finally solves their issue with satisfaction, i don't think we'll be seeing hl3 anytime soon

I just replayed HL2 and both the episodes and it is depressing that that's where the story has sat for 17 years with it being slightly nudged forward by the ending of HL Alyx.

I love this series. I've been playing it since the first one came out. And even tho I usually think of myself as a purist, I would advise anyone looking to jump into the series for the first time to start with Black Mesa, not with Half Life. They not only stay faithful to the spirit of the original, they were actually able to do it better.

Atleast entropy zero and entropy zero 2 are around, they may not be canon but they are good half life fan games

Collecting bottles was ruined for me in 2 because the enemies respawn and so fast. It makes checking every corner and listening for them too frustrating imo. But I do miss finding and selling the treasures, I need to see what 3's treasure hunts are like.

There are actually THREE episodes of Half Life 2. Half-Life 2. Half-Life 2, Episode 1. Half-life 2, Episode 2. That's three episodes. Don't ask me why the named the 2nd episode "Episode 1". I know it doesn't make sense.

I played the original HL in 2000 and from then to 2006 I was very busy working on getting somewhere. When things finally started to slow down for me, I went to a Game Store and saw "Half Life 2 - Episode 1" Played it, Loved it and couldn't wait until "HL2-Episod 2!" After that, I played all the side games and what not and was also hoping for a Half-Life 3 in this Lifetime! I was in Steam, looking for any new Half-Life related games or mods and came across Half Life 2?? I was confused and it wasn't in my Library? After looking at the images and doing a quick search, I then realized THIS is the actual HL-2!! Holy Shit!! How did I miss this after all of these years? I simply thought HL2-episodes 1 & 2 were HL-2?? Well, I've been playing it the past couple of days and I Love it!!! To me, this is My Half-Life 3 in a way... It's like watching the Original Star Wars and Return of the Jedi and never knowing Empire Strikes Back existed..!!

Ive been waiting for half life 3 since quake 3 arena.

I hate that I watch so much random content about HL in the hopes that it will scratch the itch Episode 2 left so many years ago. I wish I could have experienced HL 3 as my young self when I was so much more into video games. Now, I hope I live long enough to see the conclusion of the best game ever made.
