    I have a use case that I've been trying to find a simple solution for since 2015. I've looked a couple of times, but haven't found reliable option with full Todoist markdown or feature set like labels, etc. First Big Ask: Is two-way sync between whatever and Todoist: You can create or complete in either Todoist or the other app, and they complete (or update) in the opposite app. Hopefully I'm making senses. 2nd Big Ask: Be able to build a basic text-based outline, and make elements of the outline (or certain bullet points, sub bullet points, etc) tasks in Todoist, that still two-way sync (meaning I can complete the task generated in the planning outline, in the actual outline or in Todoist and they complete in the opposite app (in near realtime, automatically). (It would be great if I finished a task in the outline/todoist, and had the finished task cross itself out in the outline). I've been looking into possibly doing a small startup for sometime, with some other features, wondering what your thoughts are?

    • @Marco_Mindstone
      @Marco_Mindstone 2 дня назад

      Hey! For the first question, depending on the app you are trying to sync Todoist with, there may be native integrations available. I believe there is something for Evernote and Notion. For the second question, I don’t think you can create a task in Todoist by simply writing some text in bullet points; you need a "trigger." Once you have a trigger (e.g., a simple "new row" in a Google Sheet), you can use platforms like Make.com or Zapier to create a task on Todoist. Following this concept, for instance, I built a command that allows me to send a task from Tana to ClickUp. This is just a very simple example, but you can map different data/properties and try to sync the apps as you want (as much as possible at least).

    • @zham61
      @zham61 2 дня назад

      @@Marco_Mindstone basically I don't care about the note app. Are any app that can allow simple text-based outlines. With the ability to highlight some of the texts and create tasks out of them that automatically shoot over to todoist and can two-way sync with both platforms, allowing completing the task to happen in either the outline or in Todoist. Am I being more clear? I recognize their needs to be some trigger to make elements of the outline capturable as tasks, in some form or another. If I understand correctly, it will rely on both the API of some note app and the API of Todoist. I was hoping something like this could happen inside of obsidian, but frankly it could be literally any note app, potentially though one that is free. Obviously it will likely need an API, I'm guessing

    • @Marco_Mindstone
      @Marco_Mindstone 2 дня назад

      @@zham61 That’s exactly the point. I think it can be done in Obsidian as well, but you need a plugin that allows you to do that. There was a plugin under development that had a two-way sync with Todoist and Obsidian in its roadmap, but I don’t know what’s the current state of that plugin or if it’s still in development.

      @@Marco_Mindstone thank you so much for your help! I really appreciate the Timely feedback. Do you know much about coding or apis? Hi, unfortunately it seems there is an issue with unsplash. I quote what I found on github: "Okay, looking into this a bit more. It looks like source.unsplash.com has been depreciated for some time, and has only been left in place for legacy applications. They don't support it and I've seen a lot of other posts around reddit where people have had problems with it going back over a year. The supported method is to use their new API, which requires registering an application and getting an API key. I'm going to pursue this route and will make a PR to the plugin after some thinking, coding, and testing. In case source.unsplash.com stays down for an extended period of time, a temporary workaround would be to go directly to unsplash.com and download some backgrounds locally, add them to the plugin and then set the background theme to Local. It won't be as random or have as many images, but it will be better than the grey background!" Link to the source: github.com/andrewmcgivery/obsidian-beautitab/issues/54#issuecomment-2134235876

    Ho iniziato proprio con Tana e l'ho usato per qualche mese. Trovo questo programma geniale e apprezzo tante delle scelte che hanno fatto. Tuttavia, per usarlo al meglio cominciavo a perdere più tempo di quello che avrei voluto risparmiare usandolo, così poco alla volta l'ho abbandonato e per un po' sono andato avanti con Google Keep e Google Docs, finché non mi sono riavvicinato a uno strumento che avevo solo sfiorato prima di conoscere Tana: Obsidian. E ho trovato la mia quadra, perché Obsidian è facile da usare, molto personalizzabile, e ha una tale potenza che mi consente di fare tutto quello che mi serve, anche scrivere testi lunghi, cosa molto più complessa con uno strumento basato sull'outline come Tana. Continuo a seguire lo sviluppo di Tana, perché ritengo che sia davvero uno strumento fantastico, anche se probabilmente resterò con Obsidian.

      Ciao Luca! Grazie per il tuo pensiero. E' sempre ben accetto! Diciamo che tutto dipende da quello che devi fare. Per quanto mi riguarda, Tana è l'unica app che mi ha fatto "allontanare" da Obsidian, ma concordo sul fatto che imparare ad usarla a 360° richiede del tempo (soprattutto per features riguardanti l'AI e i vari command nodes che puoi creare). Detto ciò, oserei dire però che per quanto riguarda la curva di apprendimento, non si discosta molto da Obsidian: a meno che tu non utilizzi Obsidian principalmente come app di testo, a seconda di quello che vuoi andare ad implementare all'interno del tuo vault, dovrai comunque investirci del tempo. Sono apps fantastiche e, per me, entrambe difficilmente rimpiazzabili.

    Hi Mark. I would like to know how you manage the content maps and the learning information itself. So far the categories are doing a function closer to a database by using the "dataview" plugin. And not so much the MOC function. Are you scheduled to talk about this in future videos? Is there any information left to add to the vault in this regard? Thank you.

    • @Marco_Mindstone
      @Marco_Mindstone 25 дней назад

      Hey! Regardless of whether you call it a map of content or a table of content, this flexible concept serves as an index or overview of related notes on a specific topic. This can be as simple as a list of links or as complex as a structure with links, embeds, etc. This approach is very subjective, and it is dependent on your needs/preferences. In the vault, you'll find a starting point, but you can go as much granular as you want with queries, building the perfect "MOC"/"TOC"/Category for you.

    Hello Marco. The book search plugin does not work for me; when I try to search, it gives me: no results found. I tried to install this plugin on another vault, create my own api key for google books, install the plugin version as in your video, but all this did not solve the problem, could you help me?

      @Marco_Mindstone Месяц назад

      Hey, sorry to hear that. I've tested reinstalling the plugin and simply copying and pasting the template from the video description. It works perfectly for me, and I don't use any Google Book API. Could you give it another shot? There might have been some temporary glitches. If the problem persists, I recommend sharing some screenshots on my Discord for further help, or report the issue directly through the GitHub plugin repository. Cheers!

    Great video Marco!! Simple, straitforward and clearly explained. Gave me a few ideas for my own vault. One question, is there any way to bulk insert the missing fields of a note related to a class ? at 7:01 you did that process manually for each note, but is there a way to do it for a whole lot of them? Thank you! and once again great work!

    Guys, don't forget about "More settings" option at the bottom when you create a new Project through Projects plugin. This is an option where you can connect your template too. And after you can simply click on Plus icon and add new note to your database using your template, the same was as quickAdd. You can open the option after creating project pressing three dots near your project name -> Edit project

    Using command or control in my case, enter, to make a new task is an obsidian hack that most people still don't know about

  • @sickair45
    @sickair45 Месяц назад

    is it possible for a completed task to auto move do the bottom the the task list, like in Apple Notes? That way only tasks to be completed filter to the top of the list.

    • @Marco_Mindstone
      @Marco_Mindstone Месяц назад

      Absolutely, it's possible. Just use the tasks query. Once a task is marked as "completed" in a query, it automatically shifts to the bottom of the tasks list. However, this action cannot be performed outside of a query.

    This is the best! I copied this for my vault. Perhaps you can make a video on how I would apply this book template to what is produced from the kindle sync plugin using the my clippings file? I’m also not sure what the <% -- %> code does even after listening to your explanation. Love your videos!

    • @Marco_Mindstone
      @Marco_Mindstone 2 месяца назад

      Hey, thank you very much! I don't know about the kindle sync plugin but maybe I'll take a look at it. Regarding the templater code, Obsidian treats the information inside the "<%---%>" as regular text instead of frontmatter. This prevents Obsidian from detecting metadata inside the template (e.g. during dataview queries). Cheers!
