'67 Band Master Restoration Part 3: Marcus King - Hard Working Man Cover and Lesson.
Welcome to another episode from BCElectronics! This is part 3 of restoring a 1967 Fender Bandmaster and the most glorious part . . hearing it roar and shine in a band mix! This video includes audio of the amp by itself (both normal and vibrato channels) as well as a demo within a band mix. I chose to cover Marcus King’s - Hard Working Man and provide a lesson on how to play all guitar parts of this song. As stated in the video, I chose it because Marcus tours and plays with a Band Master amp (TFL-5005 Band Master Reverb) along with his signature Orange Amps and because it was an attainable challenge for my guitar skills. I hope you enjoy the video enough to like, comment, and subscribe! C...

Vintage unboxing! 📦 Part 1: Discovery and Inspection

Welcome to an episode of some amp restoration! This video is filmed with an iPhone, so it’s not the best by any means.. I’ll improve as time goes on. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this unboxing and getting to know what it’s like inspecting an amp on the bench with many unknowns lying beneath! I go through great details that can be boring but the small things matter when it comes to amplifiers and m...
What’s this?!

Here’s a journal entry of a recently finished project. And it’s a BIG one! My journey with electronics started with my first amp build from a mojotone parts kit. A Princeton reverb. I gigged that amp for a couple years and it now belongs to a good friend of mine who is putting it to great use. Now for this project. Full on, putting my knowledge and skills to the test. No parts kit, no cloning (...

I have a 1967 Band Master and it has the AB763 circuit. It's a great amp and is paired with a Marshall 1965A Lead cabinet with 4 x 10" Celestions. Very nice acquirement.
That is an absolutely beautiful example of about a 1968 bandmaster. Please do it justice and do it right. Man. Put the right values in. Don't approximate them make this amp just as good as it once was cuz it's worth it to do so
@@ThomasBrock74 check out part two brother! What was replaced (which was very little) was done with correct values and great attention to detail. Only value I changed was cathode bypass of the tremolo oscillator from 25uf to 4.7 so that you don’t have to wait for the tremolo speed to catch up when you adjust the speed knob.
awesome man... I love those old amplifiers they just built stuff different back then they built it to be fixed to be repaired when needed they didn't build shit to throw in the trash when it was broken
@@ThomasBrock74 very true! I love these vintage amps too, it all comes down to construction technique. Most big manufacturers are more worried about penny’s saved per amp (current fender, mesa, Marshall, etc), but there are a few smaller builders out there still making high quality products!
@@BCEpedals yes I know but who can afford a boutique amp
@ yeah, I know I sure can’t.. lol but build them I can! 😅 There are some manufactured amps that only need a little TLC to be the affordable workhorses like the vintage ones used to be. Check out Psionic Audio - amps under 500 and amps under 1000
Cool 🤘
I have a '67 Bandmaster. Thing is just fine! I took it completely apart. Sent the innards out to a tech. Scrubbed the dickens out of the cabinet and made it shine. Put some Tung-Sol 58851's in it. Thing just sings. And shines! Got it setting on a MESA 1X12 cab with a 4 ohm Weber Alnico with a hemp cone (65 watts). Boy. It sounds good. Mine is a blackface, not drip edge.
That sounds like a killer combo! Would love to try some 5881s in one of these!
Wow! Daja Vu Doo. I bought this amp ,new in 1964. I had a Surf /blues band. Thanx, what memories.
@@rpmblues7018 yeah, man! Glad you enjoyed the video!
You need to up the value on one of the 3 disc caps on the tremolo because it is currently too fast at its slowest speed. Usually, there are two .1uf disc caps and a .2uf together in the tremolo circuit near the roach. Changing one of the .1uf caps to .2uf will fix that common issue.
Yes , it’s part of the plan! Just focused on restoring it to playing condition first, and then seeing what’s necessary to change.
Amp sounds really good. So do you add all your time in to the cost when you re-sell it? Are you going to re-sell it?
Hey Mike! Yes I.am going to resell it! And I will add the costs, but it depends. I feel like it wasn’t worth market value while it was non-functioning, but now it is!
I didn’t realize Uncle Doug had been making these videos for so long!!
Nice. I've never heard of that amp before.
@@MikeFoerster hey Mike! Yeah this amp doesn’t get the spot light like most of the other fenders. But many fenders are quite similar! The bandmaster is essentially 99% the same as a tremolux, but is in a headshell instead of a combo like the tremolux.
Bandmaster is a rockin little amp😊
This was beyond anything I understand, but was still a very cool video to watch! Looking forward to the restoration!
@@jasenXcore my man, Jasen! I hope you and your fam are doing well! And thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! 🤘🏻 I’ve had to learn over the past couple years to grasp many of these things 😅 either way it should be a fun ride watching this thing come back to life!
I thought it was a bassman. Dang man killer find!!!
Good guess though! Lol yeah it’s been turning out REALLY good! Part 2 will be the repair footage.
Nice job, keep it up.
@@roncarter2188 thanks Ron!
Nice! Are you going to build a box for the amp head?
@@MikeFoerster yes that will be the next part! Idk if I’m going to do it myself or have one made 🤔
I couldn't find your facebook page. I was going to check it out.
@@MikeFoerster hey man! I will add a link in just a moment!
