The WTA FINALS really only felt authentic when it was played in New York, because of so many of these iconic players and their rivalries, and because of the love from the crowd that gave it an extra holiday feel that's not replicated elsewhere.

26 years ago, and I can't help thinking "thanks for the spoiler" -- I mean "thanks for the upload!" Oh fun, they were still doing best-of-5 finals. Martina H. took out Spirlea in the other semi, and then defeated Lindsay in 4.

Lindsay was so brutal to beat indoors, fast courts, no wind or elements to get in the way of her incredible consistent hitting. Hard to overcome that.
