Thanks for sharing. Personally I think this was too much for too little. Tons of effort for a result that looked like a simple blow dry. You would've gotten better results using a box relaxer and doing it yourself. I'm shocked that this stuff isn't even allowed to touch the scalp when even lye relaxers nowadays are even formulated to not burn the scalp -and how else are you supposed to completely get your roots and your edges??? Maybe this would've went better on pre stretched or previously flat ironed hair but this process was not appealing.

I'm a Black American. First, Cantu is not a professional grade shampoo and you should never start a professional service using a moisturizing shampoo. The rule of thumb is to get your hair clarified with a clarifying professional grade shampoo. You should have had a professional consultation with him asking about if he knows how to do your grade of hair, have him do an analysis of your hair to see his level of knowledge, and discuss the products that he will use for your hair before you set an appointment with him. If he doesn't know, then ask him if he is willing to take tips and open for suggestions and proceed from there. You didn't do that and it was wrong on your part and very annoying to watch. Because that's an automatic kick out of my chair. I am an esthetician by trade, what you did is equivalent to someone showing up to my room with their store bought inferior quality brand products and telling me how to work on their skin like I didn't go to school for it and my professional qualifications isn't enough. Yes, he is of a different racial ethnic background, and a different culture, but he is still a trained professional and you must respect that. So, you consult with him first and allow him to say yes or no to your suggestions by asking permission. You are giving him guidance but you are not a professional and that was actually poor guidance because you don't even know you always start a professional service with a clarifying shampoo. And, yes, I am writing this because you demonstrated poor customer etiquette going in there and basically telling him what to do with your hair. If you were not confident in his service, then don't go there to get your hair done. This was all around very poor etiquette to bring your own hair products that were not professional quality, your comb, and even taking over the washing process where he couldn't even thoroughly shampoo or condition your hair. Again, if you don't trust your stylist, then do it yourself because you could have done that at home.
