    I usually go on a Friday. That way the crowds are smaller and you get to see everyone, even if they don't make the cut. I start at the 18th (or wherever I estimate the first group out will have got to) and go against the flow. When a person I like comes along I will follow them for a few holes, then resume my journey against the flow. It's a simple way to see everyone.

    I own the manual focus adapter, and I don't believe it is a bad value for the price. Yes it is possible to get fairly repeatable focus pulls with the base lenses, but it lacks calibrated distances (as you say) and even more important -- hard stops at closest focus and infinity. Whether you are solo operator (like me) or have someone pulling focus while you operate the camera, having a calibrated manual focus means I can "set and forget" my two focus points (with stops on my focus control), and then put my attention on other things while I am shooting -- camera movement, timing, etc.

    No doubt Fuji makes some of the best lens around…..and they’re the only company that has made optics for every format from large format, all the medium formats, 35mm and apsc. But we all know their tracking is in last place now. I’m Fuji shooter myself but will be getting a second system when I really need to track well, for everything else I’m sticking with Fuji.

    Great video! Obviously, the F1.8 aperture is the reason why this lens is so big for what it is! scientifically I don’t know how they could get this lens much smaller? I’m pretty sure the newly announced Sigma 15 F1.4 is even bigger!

    I purchased this lens a few days ago for a Sony a7 IV. It is strikingly amazing that for the over a year time period since the lens first came out for Sony first and after dozens and dozens of reviews no one has ever spoken of something that is so important and so obvious that it would be difficult to miss. This lens' firmware can't be updated through its USB port and through a computer. Only via their application and Bluetooth. This information is absent in the manual of the lens and so is on the Viltrox website. I learned it the hard way, trying without success to connect it to Windows 11, disabling Bitlocker, trying at least 5 different USB cables. It would not show on the computer. Then finally their customer service in China replied to my email, stating the above - the lens can only be updated via the app. They sent me a video about that. The video is not on the website. The application is clumsy, it looks like it updated both the firmware of the lens and of the lens' Bluetooth. However, after detaching and reattaching the lens, as they advise, the camera continues to read "version 01" as firmware of the lens. The application, after the one time supposed update, does not give you information about the current firmware version on the lens, even though it connects to the lens. Again - unbelievable that no one has said a word in all the reviews.

    I think another difference is that X-H2 can shoot video with up to 2x digital zoom. If you still have X-H2, can you please look at what video modes are possible at 2x digital zoom? I think i read somewhere 4k60 is not possible with digital zoom, only 4k30/24, but I'm curious if it could do 1080p240 fps - as this would be pretty neat mode for macro and wildlife videography. Thanks.

    Great review, indeed the pictures from this lens are so clean. At F2 the GM is as sharp as the 35mm SL APO F2 in the center and both have comparable contrast, which is crazy. The 35mm GM is also smaller, lighter, has faster and silent AF (the SL is noisy in video) and of course you can get much nicer background blur at f1.4. The Leica has better colors and nicer OOF transition at F2, it also has excellent microcontrast to the point of focus (only a few lenses can do that). However the Leica is 3500$ more expensive, not sure if it worth it for 90% of people. Both are the best 35mm AF lenses you can get.

    There's no reason moving production to China would impact reliability simply because it's being made in China. The only reason it would impact reliability is because Fuji, in the process of moving production to China, altered production methods and materials and practices. It could be argued that, if Fuji hasn't properly ramped up production at the new factory, that there may be some teething problems as the new factory gets up to speed and the tooling is broken in. That would be Fuji's problem for having not properly managed the transition. This assumption and association of poor quality with China is completely unfounded and based on the bias that comes from judging the entirety of China's manufacturing capability based on the cheapest products produced there. But whilst China does produce low-cost, low-quality mass produced items, in which low quality is factored in to design to allow for lower cost/higher output; they also have very high quality manufacturing capabilities, as seen in the fact that almost all of the high-end, high quality products we admire today are also produced in China, though they may try to obscure that fact with a "designed in the USA" or something.

    Something I forgot to mention that I'd like you to know! One of the shooting modes on the X100VI is 'Film Bracketing'. In this mode, you can select three different Film Simulations - whenever you take a photo, the X100VI will give you three different photos as an end product, one of each film simulation you selected. One big problem I have here is that when selecting the three different film simulations, you cannot select a custom recipe that you have created. The Film Bracketing Mode is locked to only the Film Simulations that Fuji ships the camera with (the x100vi comes with 20 different options here). The only way to use your custom film recipe is to save it as a custom mode. Quite Disappointing in my opinion. I'd like the option to use 3 custom film recipes I have created in the film bracketing mode, but in its current state, this is not possible on the X100VI.

    So that's not true by all means... You CAN power your monitor via USB_C because I do it all the time and even from using my cheap two mini sony A7rii batteries in this cheap ebay box, it fully runs as a battery pack using the USB-A to C plug and it powers it up as we speak as I test my monitor false colors. I normally power the monitor with an actual battery pack... no issues and that's including connected to my camera AND wireless connected HMDi or wired to another TV.

    • @letthelightintv
      @letthelightintv 5 месяцев назад

      Because this is an older Viltrox release, I would personally pick the Sony 15mm f1.4. (You can check out Dustin Abbotts reviews of both lenses to see image comparisons of sharpness and contrast if you’d like) Why?: Viltrox has really stepped up their game this year. Their last years models are decent, but the Sony 15mm would be the better pick. Now if we were talking about a Viltrox lens that was released this year, I would pick the Viltrox lens. They are considerably cheaper, AF is very accurate, and image wise it’s quite clean. I’d recommend you check out my review of the Viltrox 20mm I just released. It’s an incredible lens for the price. (I know it’s not 13mm focal length, but if 20mm would work, this lens is really quite impressive) Hope this helps.

      @@letthelightintv That's an excellent and very comprehensive reply-thanks! Between the Viltrox 20mm f1.2 and Sony 15mm f1.4, which would you prefer and which one produces the better image quality and sharpness? Is the 20mm usable for vlogging and taking selfies? Thank you.

    • @letthelightintv
      @letthelightintv 4 месяца назад

      @@robertgarica Hey again! I hate to throw a wrench in the conversation, but I'd pick neither. Why? I'd pick the Viltrox 16mm F1.8 AF FE. The Viltrox 16mm I just reviewed is overall cleaner than the Viltrox 20mm in it's image production, and has fantastic AF performance. One drawback however is the size of the lens. The Viltrox 20mm was tiny, the 16mm is easily twice its size. So if you're fine with rocking a bigger lens, the Viltrox 16mm is a very clean lens.

      Thank you@@letthelightintv. That's interesting. Would you say the Viltrox 16mm F1.8 has an even sharper/cleaner image than the Viltrox 13mm F1.4?

    Hard to argue against the extreme value of this lens. It really is remarkably good for the price.

    If Viltrox would add weather sealing and aperture rings, I would consider them. The same with Sigma. Sigma has some amazing glass but I am in the PNW so I am in the rain 80% of the time. The tradeoffs make sense for the cost reduction but those are must-haves for me. Honestly, I know it might seem ridiculous to som, but if another $200-300 gets me an aperature ring, that's what I will do to not modify my workflow for certain lenses. Of course, if it is a fixed aperture that concern drops. Thanks for the review!

      Weather sealing would certainly be useful living in the PNW!

    Hello! Great Video! I already own the sony 18 to 135 mm lens. But I want a little more zoom. Should I but the Tamron 18 to 300? Is the difference significant? Thank You !

      @letthelightintv 5 месяцев назад

      Depends on how often you actually want to go past 135 in focal length. Personally, that’s pretty rare that I want or need to get that close in.

    This is not how you measure latency. You have two sources of unknown amounts of latency: 1 - Your camera's video output. DSLRs are terrible in this regard, and some much worse than others, but even a Red or Alexa has some. 2 - Your TV This is then added to whatever extra latency the Accsooon creates. So... We have no idea how much latency the Accsoon creates from watching your video.

    I missed a mention of what camera is being used..? No arguing with your results there, but I have this lens and it was blazing fast on my old X-T3, and is blazing fast on my X-T5. I wonder if there is a setting in the custom menu that could be slowing it down? Or maybe this copy is an unfortunate lemon. I suppose there can be a lemon of anything in any category 🤷🏻‍♂️

      Yes sorry, this review was done on the X-T5. Maybe the one I received was an outlier… Thanks for your feedback!

      Just out of curiousity, @kzr83, is your experience solely on Fuji? I review a wide variety of platforms, and there's no question that Fuji's autofocus performance (particularly for video) seriously lags behind brands like Canon and Sony. I own the X-H2 myself, which is even more robust than the X-T5, and that's still the case. Sometimes "blazing fast" is relative to what your experience is. There's no question that the X-T5 and other current Fuji bodies are better than the X-T3 in terms of autofocus, but they are definitely not at the level of competing brands in this aspect.

      Hey @@DustinAbbottTWI! Yes, my mirrorless experience is Fujifilm only, and I know from watching you and many others that Sony's AF is a league ahead. I was just surprised to see how slow the 90mm was in that indoor xmas tree to outdoor brightness. BUT, come to think of it, maybe that was in video mode? And I am much more photography focused, so it was just focus acquisition speed that I had in mind whilst watching, but in photo mode. So perhaps not really applicable here. If so, my bad. If not, maybe it was dimmer indoors than the footage makes seem, don't know. It's always hard to compare across circumstances. But it was really awful here in this demo, it was a bit of a shock 😅

    I have this lens and I think it runs very well with xt5 in terms of auto focus. It has two linear focusing motors which make it quite responsive. I am suprised that you complain its auto focus.

    I have a few of the Rokinon V-AF lenses. So was curious about the manual focus adapter. Glad you had one for review. Agree, it is way overpriced. I was only interested in it since I’m already invested into the lenses. But would only consider it if it was $100 at most. Can’t believe they priced it so much.

    I am still very inclined to get the tamron 18-300 lens! As you explained in other video where you compared these 2 lens, I don't want to miss out any shots! Especially on the long end. But the protability factor does bother me too! Still in dilemma between these 2 lens!

    • @letthelightintv
      @letthelightintv 7 месяцев назад

      It’s a tough decision! The Sony gives you a wider aperture throughout the zoom range and better portability (it’s great to travel with) The Tamron gives you a much bigger zoom range. I guess what you need to determine is how often you’ll zoom past 135? (Which at least in my usage experience, isn’t extremely often)
