Bro. Tracy's casting is absolutely painful. One of the main plot points is Tracy being overweight/plus-sized. There's no way in hell that was the only person they could find... shes also just a shit singer.
Not that I've ever been in detention, but if I ever did end up in detention, I'd wanna be in a detention group like Tracy was in, with a bunch of kids from different cultures who got rhythm. But ya gotta admit, "Dancing in Detention?!" has got a pretty good ring to it.
As someone who has pretty much watch almost all the Hairspray productions on RUclips out there (may be an exaggeration lmao), but trust me I've watched A LOT of Hairspray productions and this one was one of the best ones I saw. I wouldn't say this is the top one but it's one of the top. The singers, the acting, the outfits, everything was perfect. The only thing unique about this one was that the audience was actually engaged and happy throughout the show which was literally one of the best things LOL
it's really unfortunate how problematic this show is. Its honestly such an amazing show otherwise. like easily my favorite production of hairspray ive seen
Going on a good way in the new Hampshire university of your way in the morning sexy girl and a good day heh I'm going on a while I went to the bathroom to hack into someone's phone call see the same time to gets to Canaan vs and wench nails and wench are the ugh urn for a product and wench are the best ones are mf and I can't I have no idea why you too cheap gand I can't wait ugh I went to bed early and wench are the best thank you too a little bit I think we can do that saying it is a demand for ND to Fargo you want to do it duck make sure you get ✨😇✨👏😃🎤🎶👍 so we have pen and wench nails just got to the sake
Listen, I agree about the fat suit and everything, but here's the thing. This was AMDA in 2014. AMDA, as I've heard from former students, has been known to be a little noninclusive, which is an issue in itself, but it was also in 2014, y'all! Times were different and have changed. Fat suits aren't necessarily a bad thing, either! I was in a production of Lord of the Flies my freshman year of high school as Piggy. Now, I'm not obese, but I'm pretty damn big. I'm a king size snickers bar, okay? I didn't need a fat suit. However, my understudy was not fat like me, so they had to personally make a fat suit for him, which was pretty realistic. This was back in 2019. Sometimes, people need to realize you can't be offended by everything, especially if it isn't targeted at you. I think they definitely should've casted a bigger person as Tracy, yes and I'm not going to defend them on that aspect, but still! I think this production was very charming and it's one of the better versions I've seen!
I remember these auditions at AMDA. The students in Songbook ran those musicals. If you wernt in Singbook GOOD LUCK getting in the show. You might get ensemble or small part if any. It got better when they all graduated and started trying to make an "album" lol . More students got opportunities to be in productions.
I legit had a voice teacher at AMDA that said "Lets see where those SongBook kids end up in 5 years. I thought that was so rude to say about students but I was young and naive back then 😂 🤡🤡 They must have felt like Gods in the small pond of AMDA but when they got out in that ocean GoFundMes, retail failed bands. I get it though entertainment business is no joke but there were waaaaay more performing opportunities when Songbook went away and they add black box, understudy performance and a concert evey semester.
Omg this audience is insufferable.
Yeass 💗
Enchanting! Thank you for posting on RUclips.
Is that fat suit?
51:57 oof… I would think at AMDA they would be way more empathetic

Wow. Extremely well done. Whoever directed this did an excellent job. Every aspect was first rate. It was joyous!!
Link is ❤
Amazing cast, Edna, Penny, Amber all killing it. Usually Tracey gets 70% of the talent in the show, but everyone is amazing in this cast.
The Dynamites🔥🔥🔥 Velma🔥🔥🔥 Maybelle🔥🔥🔥 The Audiences Energy🔥🔥🔥

It's giving sitcom. Love the vibe
49:53 Dynamites AMAZING Playoff

I loved Tracy & Link's kiss at 1:56:11!!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED IT!!!
Heck to the yeah! LOL!🤣😂
This is definitely one of the top 5 best productions of Hairspray here on RUclips, and I am including professional productions (I hated the movie)
Awesome production and outstanding cast! Loved it so much!
But probably the prop’s people are funny 😂
I like a different one

I enjoyed this more than the Broadway production. Absolute perfection.
Is....is the tracy in a fat suit??!?!?!? WTF?!?!?!?!

I think she's miss baltimore
I played amber in hairspray musical at my house today I loved playing the part
Amazing!!!!!!!!
You can tell the tears in "I know Where I've been" are real. SING IT HONEY! SING YOUR TRUTH!
Tracy's mom is so funny. The sweet voice, to that really deep one makes me laugh every time. "WILBUR!" "Sweetie, be a dear.... HOLD MOMMY'S WAFFLES!👹"

Not the bad fat suit
I really like this Edna a lot !!! She’s great 🤣

The people who played Corny, Edna, Little Inez, Wilbur, Link, Prudy, and Mr. Pinky were all not in Songbook but ok! :)

Why are the audience Whooping right from the start during a blacked out stage! Must be yet another Amdram production. Moving on.
