the answer is yes its already becoming less fun because people over optimize, meaning at higher MMR you cant just lay back and have a casual experience - you have to over optimize too or you lose. PvP gaming as a whole is terrible now IMO. sbmm made everyone have an over optimization mindset that ruined everything. Remember the good ol days of bo2 where you could use any gun that wasnt the SMR and do well?

Sounds like you're a casual gamer in which case it might not be for you. As someone to loves competitive shooters with MOBA elements (former Overwatch GM), this game is heaven for me

League has casual mode like aram and urf And dota has turbo ,abiltiy drarft , custom maps and custom games to play casualy As long deadlock give us a casual mode on release ,it will be fine

There is a new pro strat called double soaking where one guy from a duo lane goes to the nearest solo lane to claim extra souls from minions. It was used during a pro tournament and the team that used it won every match since they got a huge soul lead early. Its the type of strat where if the other team is doing it you have to do it too or you lose.

I hope the so called pro teams not manipulate this game... it will lose a lot of potential if they did.

It's already unfun that you can't kill people easily. Too much mobility for aim requirement and the FPS elements don't fit for a moba. If I could kill someone in lane early easily that would be ideal

Just wanna comment as someone who got into dota 2 about 2 years ago and now has about 500 hours in it, idk about the game having it's fun optimized out. I mean dota is a optimized machine to dive into, and it was a lot to begin with, but that made the small optimizations and progress moments that much more rewarding for me. I was playing "catch up" but it was a lot of fun, and even then when I play ranked it's with people in my skill bracket so it's never like I feel particularly bad in a loss or whatever. Personally deadlock has felt great and I'm excited for the optimizations and I feel pretty at home and optimistic about it's future. Anyways that's my two cents ✌️

I think valve did the no set roles thing on purpose. Choosing your role and lane in dota 2 is such an undertaking before you even begin the game. In this game it literally just chooses a lane for you. This streamlines things so much. I doubt they will take this advantage that deadlock has away. Another thing I notice is that building HP is super low. They want this game fast paced. They don't want to bog it down.

Haven't played town of Salem 2 yet, so I have a question. Does coroner have any provable information other than knowing who the killer was? Because, if not, It seems like as Mafia you should get the the killing role to false claim a different killing role in the death note the moment a coroner tries to give information. Seems like you might steal a free hang one out of every couple of games. Also if you do it often enough and make it a known play it also makes cornoner better claim down the line.

Itemization is just as core a game mechanic as the movement and ability usage, it's not any more sweaty than learning how to track heads in a twitch shooter.

Thank you for the surf mention. I have sunk so much time into it because it is compelling in its own right and it doesnt have that competitive feel. The meta was established long ago: get as good strafes as possible and use the slope mechanics to get as much speed and/or height as you possibly can, and keep your lines short. You dont have to deal with other people, you can just be in the zone. I think that is why I gravitated towards it over any of the actual base games. I have been having fun with deadlock but it is always a game thats ideal to play with friends for me. The laning and farming and having ur abilities is satisfying. I noticed that my mindset sometimes isn't there though. I will sometimes start hating on myself for stuff like being behind on souls or not securing that kill or dumbly over extending and it brings the mood of others down. Sometimes the competitive pressure of a game like CSGO or Deadlock or whatever else doesn't really do it for me. I know that was a bit of a ramble but in short I think that your video is great and it gave me a lot to think about.

I think the complaint that "all the fun will be sucked out of the game" because people will find optimal strategies isn't valid. One of the great things about mobas specifically is that they're dynamic and you can build counters from a plethora of items within each game. Has the fun been sucked out of dota or league? Those games might have had the fun sucked out of them for other reasons but it definitely isn't because of a standard strategy across every game. Sure, there are roles and guidelines- but in dota specifically, anything can work. Making the comparison to bad Overwatch metas like Goats is off base because this game's meta is absolutely nothing like Overwatch's. Counter itemizing is how these games work. That is a core mechanic of the genre- more specifically dota's. You don't want to engage with buying countering items but then also complain about getting stunned, rooted, silenced, etc. There are items to help with that. Any competitive game is going to be.... competitive. There is a winner and a loser. Sure, hopping in and dicking around with friends even while losing is great fun sometimes, but there comes point you want to stop losing. Winning is more fun than losing. If you could get infinite ammo shooting a tower, why wouldn't you do that if it gives you a better chance at winning? It seems like you've never played a competitive game before. If you don't want to engage with the mechanics, don't. That's what ranking systems are for. My comment and this video is a whole lot of nothing commentary. Just enjoy the game. And if it wasn't clear, yes i am a dota player with a lot of hours, so you did get that point right.

Wow, I think this is the first negative review of the game so far. This game clearly isn't made for you if you feel this sorta frustration over something as simple as itemization. If you wanna be able to just follow a cookie cutter build every match go play league, because icefrog don't balance that way. Items are op because they have counters. Getting angry about getting super cced without mentioning how many items you bought to prevent getting cced. Its all a part of the micro, just another way of skill expression with knowledge on how items interact with eachother.

To respond to the fun being optimized out of a game. I think this problem is kind of imaginary. Even now there are plenty of people playing overwatch 2 just for fun in customs or with friends in quickplay. You aren't FORCED to play ranked and play meta and grind when its unfun. there are so many options and ways to play and a ton of different people also playing the game causally. However, the issue comes when you expect a pure fun experience in a ranked/competitive mode. In ranked, the goal is to win so ppl will optimize and there will be a meta. That's just how ranked modes for any game will always be but you don't have to play ranked if you don't enjoy that... its completely a choice. right now, the way you play deadlock is just unranked fun. that never has to go away unless you want it to. yes, as game gets older and players get better, you will get salty people even in unranked modes. thats an unfixable problem. there will always be salty people playing video games. also shitting on the overwatch custom servers is pretty wild imo, its pretty fucking good, hard to compete with steam/valve. better than riot at least with absolutely nothing for valorant/league. edit; there needs to be a way easier and faster way to look at what items ppl are building.

I think Doom became a panic fake claim for NA at this point, so whenever an apoc pops out I sus Doom claims immediately :D Crusader is indeed an underrated fake claim.

Admirer should be D tier cuz if u claim admirer and theres an nk they will usually target you for a double kill and out both you and your teammate. The only good thing i can think for a fake admirer claim is if you are jester or exe and you claim someone denied you. Fun jester tip claim coroner and DONT put a killer in your will they will demand to know who coven killing is respond with something like what do you mean its coven you can see it in the graveyard. They never see it coming.

back when i played this game i realized that claiming lo or track is really bad as ww, so id instead claim invest because if you track cks scent it makes you look like town (and people expect ww to claim track) also, remember when fake claiming retri, higher numbers get priority so if you claim corpse missing as 2 then you are saying that 1 is 100% retri

An important thing about exe is that it had defense. Ive had a game as ww where i was attack N1 by coven and knew they would try and push me as a fake claim, so i deleted my will and went exe.
