Wizard's has the feel of a story from the Heavy metal magazine very similar artwork and story lines
AI Robo voice narration.awful
I loved the first movie, but the sequels dropped maybe the most important aspect of the theme. The Gibson character was suicidal. That's what emboldens him, and WHY he just. doesn't. care. what the outcome of the conflict might be.
And Busey! I really believe he IS the characters he plays. Creepy guy.
zu dumm das passende Thumbnail zu erstellen ... wir grotten ärmlich!
Zardoz & Outland
When robots start malfunctioning, they call me.
I love all of the Apes films and all the other great films!
I enjoyed the video, but you do realize Big Trouble In Little China came out four years after The Thing, don't you?
Also, the footage at 14:43 is from the 2011 prequel, not Carpenter's work.
The Andromeda Strain is one of the best Sci-Fi movies ever made. The science of it is so based in reality that it doesn't feel like science fiction while watching it. I wonder if Jurassic Park might have had some inspiration from West World. I know it is a big, controversial thing, but the idea that Soylent Green is made of people is not all that shocking to me. People stranded have been known to eat their friends along the journey to stay alive. Soylent Green wasn't killing people; it just made good use of their remains. Rollerball was fantastic. It didn't really come to any conclusions, and was definitely part of that 1970s pessimism. Brilliant. Capricorn One was a great suspense movie. I suppose the only sci-fi aspect to it is the idea of launching to Mars. The rest of it, on Earth, is suspense reminiscent of Hitchcock. I know I'm in the minority here, but I enjoyed the 1956 version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers more than the 1978 version. The suspense was palpable in every scene, but the 78 version built up to it slowly, and the first half was pretty boring.
I've only Missed three, own most of the rest. Not a bad list.
these are only hidden gems if you have been living under a rock.
Great video. 👍
I love this movie, and watched it over and over when I was growing up! Thanks for this great Flash Gordon video!
Boxing and especially college and professional football basketball etc. have gotten to the roller ball state Pro wrestling is a prime example
I've only seen 15 of these..
We seem to be living in the world that much of 70's Sci Fi predicted.
In "Colossus, The Forbin Project". it's not that it wouldn't take "No" for an answer, it was that nobody ever told it "NO!" until the very end of the movie, and it shut itself down.
alot of those are mainstream and very popular and well known ... how about a few other that are really obscure , like : Message from Space , Zardoz , Death Race , Boys From Brazil , Slaughter House 5 , Terminal Man , Galaxy Espress 999 .....
zardoz!!
Excellent list, thanks
One of my favorite "guilty pleasure" movies! I had the pleasure of meeting flash Gordon himself at the Alamo city comic-con!!👽🚀🔫
Your lazy thumbnail... Yes I genuinely missed WALL-E and Back To The Future in the 1970s since they didn't exist then
Yeah I was going to Say the Same Thing, Kinda Lame having Back to the Future On the Cover.
Great compilation. And there was only Demon Seed and The Man Who Fell To Earth that I don't have a copy of. Yet!
Fun fact, during the making of THX 1138 and after its release, George Lucas got one comment and one piece of advice, both which he ignored. Comment: "You're right. You can't write a screenplay." Advice: "Don't do anything with robots." Silent Running always got me thinking. Where the devil are the engines on the Valley Forge? Star Crash is "not as polished as Star Wars"? One way to put it. Another way is to say it's so trashy and bad that it's fun to watch.
Anything with Caroline Munroe in it is worth watching at least once!
Thanks! These are all good choices. However, when I was a little older, an uncle of mine introduced me to a little sci-fi/porno(lite) spoof named "Flesh Gordon" from about 1974. Silly and campy, but funny overall, it's a good addition to any 50s, 60s, or 70s sci-fi collection. Also Star Wars special effects guy John Dykstra lends his early talents to the film. His name is even in the credits...backwards. Cheers!
AI much , phase iv 4 , wtf
i havent missed any of these , they are my favourite movies , silent running is my all time favourite film
You missed another Tarkovaky film, Stalker, 1979. As good if not better then Solaris.
The original story was better than the movie, actually.
Beneath the Planet of the Apes is one of my favorite follow-ups from that era. As a kid, it used to scare me by thinking some day apes could become smarter than us. And the thought of being hunted like wild game frightened me. I think out of all these, my favorites have always been Logan's Run and Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
Wizards is awesome. Funny and the final battle of the wizards is something, you will not forget. Oh, and they killed Fritz.
And it's ironic that Mark Hamill voiced one of the characters in it, being that it was released in 1977, the same year as Star Wars, so hardly anyone ever associates him with the movie.
Who else went to the all day Planet of The Apes marathons ("I Want You To GO APE!") that played at least twice in theaters between 1973-1975? At least that's when I saw it. Twice! I was 8-10 years old and we would get dropped off at the theater in the morning and get picked up later that night after sitting through 10 hours of crazed ape-shit antics from the audience. Amazing!
Why can't muricans pronounce "horror" without making it sound like "horr" 😂😂😂
Why is Wall-E in the thumbnail? Well known 70s film?
I have that book that was shown at the end of the video. As was the custom back then, it has a few pages of color photos in the center. It also strongly implies that Ming and Aura's relationship WAS a lot closer than just father and daughter, something only hinted at in the film.
Colossus was my favorite here.
THX 1138 is one of my favourite movies.
*Idaho Transfer, The Omega Man, Fantastic Planet, Frankenstein the True Story* (!!!) and though it's ACTUALLY 1968, *The Green Slime* feels more like 1970s, and is where Ridley doesn't want you to know that 80% plus of Alien came from
Rollerball.................its coming true.
Also, _The Idaho Transfer, Star Wars,_ and- the big one- _Zardoz._
"Zardoz" was a pure, unadulterated British garbage flick. Even Sir Sean Connery could not save it.
@ nah, Zardoz had a good story, but Connery was very wrong for the part. He had the acting ability of a tree stump.

@@cinemaicons1 I preferred "The Omega Man".
@@bwtv147 me too 147 it is one of my fav movies
