Most Excellent information, thanks I will visit Lake Mead now.
I so appreciate your excellent coverage of Boondocking sites, maps, directions to sites. Keep up the great work.
Man it's funny how our paths have had such a similar route. We had the same issue with our original fridge. We swapped ours out with a residential too. Thanks for sharing.
Ok this is probably the 5th video we have watched since finding you guys and you do an amazing job on these. Thanks for sharing- Wander On- Kyle and Michelle
Thanks Kyle and Michelle, we appreciate you checking us out! 😄
Great choice on the Rich Solar panels, we have 12 of them on our roof and they are great. Love the new rig.
We are really happy with our decision on those panels and this new rig so far.
Looks like a great spot and loved how you played Tetris to get everyone in. We have been traveling most of the summer with three other rigs. We camped on the Valley of the Gods road and it was amazing, but many can it get windy. Great video-Kyle and Michelle
Yes the Valley of the Gods is a beautiful spot, the wind can be brutal! It doesnt always work out that well fitting all those rigs together but that was one of our better jobs :)
We really enjoyed your video, found you guys from the boondocking fulltime group. We are not to far from the spot you were at in the video. Currently camped up around Poverty Flats/Snowbird Mesa. Wander On- Kyle and Michelle
Hey guys! We filmed some of that just last week and I think I saw your rig 😃! Small world. Thanks for the comment, we appreciate it! Yes, Wander on🤙.

You find some amazing places. Thanks for sharing! Crazy good drone shots. Great wildlife! Safe travels always
Oh my goodness that’s a great video! Great information on beautiful free locations. Love Sergi in his life jacket. Great job sharing safety ideas. Can’t wait for December ❤️🤗❤️🤗❤️🤗from 515! God bless you
Are you coming to Quartzsite? If not where do you winter
Well we are always on the move so Quartzsite usually makes it in there at some point. Our next few videos will be covering winter spots so no spoilers ha!
Sounds good. Thanks
Another great one. Do you have a video of your rig and trailer? (Quickly scanned your channel). Thanks guys! Safe travels always
These two videos show our new rig and system we have installed. The videos prior to that will show us in our first set up. Thanks for watching and safe travels to you as well! ruclips.net/video/0LWAPX2ls7A/видео.html ruclips.net/video/No3aU5UTomc/видео.html
👍great info. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Trippy. Who knows? We're not alone. Thanks for all the tips! New sub.
We holed up just south of the top. Lots of little turnouts as it meanders down into Silver Gate. We were next to a pond super nice
The summit was a goal of ours but there are more scenic spots around for sure. When we return we have a couple new spots to try near water but the MOSQUITOS were of biblical scale at the time so we will be ready for battle haha 🤙😁. Thanks for the comment!
Great video! Awesome scenery and wildlife shots! In mid August 2015, I took my truck camper across the beautiful Beartooth highway from Red Lodge. Boondocked at two spots near the highway, the highest being 9500 feet. Low of 32F one night. Safe travels!
The wildlife up there is phenomenal, cant wait return! Yes be careful with those overnight temps 😁
Great video! I am a solar fan like you. I have 225 watts of panels with a 100 AH lithium battery on my truck camper. I installed an AC-DC charger, but never have to use it, Don't have the energy requirements you do. But, my system keeps electronic devices charged, a small inverter running when I need it and fan and furnace when needed . I travel several months in the summer and stay mostly in USFS campgrounds or boondock. Safe travels!
It feels so good to have the right system to handle your needs especially when you're out in these USFS and BLM areas. We love it 😀
Great video! The first of yours I have looked at and I'll be watching more, since I just subscribed. I watched it because it mentioned boondocking in Teton NP, which I have done before. Turns out I was at Spread Creek in August 2019 in my truck camper. I thought the site you showed by the creek looked familiar. I checked my blog and I was in that site - number 7! BTW at that time it did not have a homebrew bridge across it. It had a nice little waterfall that provided some very peaceful creek music. Safe travels!
Thanks and welcome to the channel! #7 would be ideal for a truck topper no doubt 👌. Appreciate the comment and you be safe as well.
Good tips I don’t have an RV but I have 2 e-bikes that I use for very different situations : daily commute and car camping adventures. Power over range - totally agree
We have a Rad big tire step thru for me and an ecells monarch for the hubs. We smile big!
The WHOLE RV is built lightly. You almost cannot weld enough or reinforce enough to get it to hold. ..it'll just keep cracking further and further in on the light weight frame. I hang 400-500 lbs motos off the back of two ford vans. I brace back into the frame channels 3' with 2x3 heavy walled box tube. Your frame couldnt even benfit from that. Its just too light. RVs are just built too lightly. You would even find tieing off to the upper back of your RV problematic. I run a HD cutaway ambo ..it's a heavy and durable unit. I can even tie off the rear door "loops" that hold doors open. Your fighting a losing battle
Thanks for sharing your experience with us and the channel! Correct, the lesson here is dont put anymore weight on that bumper than what comes with it even after modification. The new hitch is handling the weight no problem 👍
I'm seriously thinking about upgrading to an eBike from a regular bike for getting around since I travel in a class C with no toad. I carry my bike on a 1UP bike rack.
Good luck with your purchase!
That was an awesome video. We have 1 ebike. I bought a carrier that mounted on my ladder. I will 4 sure start checking it for any damage. Thank you both for this important information. Cya down the road. Phil and wendy.
Great video. Thanks for all the information. Wish we could have trailed Tahoe. ❤❤🤗🤗
I got mine from a reviewer off of You Tube so I lucked out and only paid $850 for it and it was practically brand new. We bought my wife a new one for $1600 so not so lucky there. The rack for a fifth wheel isn’t cheap and I had to replace the tire trays because our bikes have the fat tires. So far nothing else has broken and we have had them for almost 2 years.
This beautiful! Merry Christmas to the Freese’s. I have never seen this. I miss you ❤️🤗
Merry Christmas to you too! 😁🎄
You 2 are so blessed. Great vid. Cya down the road.
Beautiful area
That's not a sewer hose. That's a trailer tail. Lol.
HAHA🤣Im gonna have to use that one! Hilarious 🤙
Such a great location and a great time together! Loved the video!
Yes it was!
Wow! What a fantabulous location. We love all the information. Thanks again. Sending love and hugs from 515❤❤❤🤗🤗🤗
Love your channel you guys! Hey, I have a 2021 Tundra with a similar trailer (30-foot). Do you have any trouble with mountain passes / steep grades? How does the Tundra perform for you? Any mods? (I'm a few years away yet...) THANKS! And good job! 👍
Personally I wouldnt go any bigger than 30ft without going for a legit 3/4 ton or bigger. Mine is a 2011 with the 5.7L. I wish I had air bags for the sag the trailer gives me (the equalizer hitch helps) but other than that the Tundra tow this like a boss. I mean I know everybody likes there paticular half-tons but its hard to beat these 5.7 Tundra's. I've never had the trailer get away from me and we've been on most grades the Rockies dish out. It had a small lift on the front maybe a 1/2 inch or an inch this allows for the bigger more aggressive tires. I just put on an upgraded suspension on the rear this year. Electric break of course. Nothing I would call a MOD necessarily. Thanks a lot for watching! 😁🤙
Not suspension sorry they were shocks.
Don't forget to check out the dinosaur museum in Blanding. It is fantastic, especially the therizinosaurus.
Howdy neighbor! A BIG THANK YOU for pulling us out of the loose gravel at Eagle Lake, Rocky Point. You rock!!
lol Howdy! Not a problem and it was nice meeting you both😁🤙.
A few years ago, we camped at the Twin hollows campground a little farther up on 89 just south of the Mt. Carmel Junction. There's a gas station there that has free fill and dump with fil too. We stayed 2 weeks right on the E. Fork of the Virgin River here. Our campsite was here. 37.2081491, -112.6889111
We've stayed there as well, I believe 2-3 nights. Not as far down as you on the non-water side of the road. We thought that place was slammin! Funny thing is Im working on our new video and we have that exact Mt. Carmel Chevron featured. We use it to set us up for our next spot. (not MT Carmel 😊) Small world right!? Thanks for sharing 🤙
FYI, its pronounced Her-cun, UT and Z-eye-un, NP. Take care.
Yep we've been advised. You too.
Glad you can get a trailer out there. Free is for me 😂 I like to Boondocks. That’s why we got a 21’ 4wd Rv. Great video
If you like Boondocking and Free then your in the right place bud 🤙😁 Thanks for watching!
Professional vid. Well done. Cya at rocky point
Thanks and we appreciate all the great information about the area 👍😁
Love spending the night and fishing lake Mohave
I absolutely love this location. You both look wonderful and so happy! We can’t wait to see you next month. Fantastic video! Keep on sharing the dream with us. God bless, guide and protect you always. Love and hugs from 515❤️❤️❤️🤗🤗🤗🙏🙏🙏
yayyy 1K
I just checked the temperature there. It’s supposed to be 109 today! When were you there? How’s your AC keeping up?
We can but never run the AC. We generally chase down the 70's and 80's all year round so we rarely need it. We spent the last week of December and into the new year (2024) at this location.
@@TheFreeses515 Nice spot! Didn’t catch when you were there
So jealous watching this at work !
Just found your channel 🎉 we just bought our trailer and heading to Utah in a month. First time boondocking in the desert. Heard it’s monsoon season. Looking for higher ground places. Any advice? IOverlander searching as we speak. Cheers!
Congrats on the new trailer and the big trip coming up! Utah red dirt turns to serious cakey mud in a hurry and the washes can be dangerous if rain is around so take care out there. We have two boondocking videos for Utah SO FAR (we'll be back😊) with some desert areas for you. If you havent found them yet watch these ruclips.net/video/HzL3CdF7Nvk/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/Jl3D0t-KzB0/видео.html. I'm not sure where you plan on going but these videos focus on the south west in ZION's backyard. We also know of some boondocking areas in South Eastern Utah Near Blanding as well. I hope this helps and let us know how it went! 🤙😁
New to your channel, why do you travel with two vehicles? Go Hawkeyes!
Welcome! We just got started with what we had not ready to let go of certain things and we were new. But soon after this video we address this very subject actually. We are down to a one vehicle now with a completely different camper. It was a nice to have in remote locations if we ever had a break down, we used it for scouting locations, exploring, errands, and off roading fun. Its nice to have for those reasons, You learn pretty fast you dont go off roading with your truck that pulls your home. But we came to the conclusion we like to ride together on travel days and the expense of keeping it around eventually out weighed the fun we were having with it.
Great job guys. I like the way you think. We've never been to Oregon but would like to visit it soon. BTW, I recognized some of the pictures of the places you've stayed, as we've stayed there too. We just found your channel and subscribed. We're old, retired FTers in an who discovered we love to boondock. We boondocked for 10 months last year in our 1999 National Tropical MH and have been living off grid all this year so far, saving a ton of money too. We designed and built our solar system ourselves, on a tight budget. It took us 5 years to gather the resources and finally complete the project, doing all the work ourselves. But now that it's complete, our solar/battery system allows us to live off grid just like we were plugged into a power pedestal in an RV park. No more sweating at night for us as we almost always run our 12k mini split heat pump in the bedroom all night long, using less than 10% of our 48v battery while we sleep. My wife likes the thermostat set to 72 degrees, but it sometimes gets too cold for me, so I'll often run my electric blanket to stay warm as we now have power to spare. We started about 6 yrs. ago by building a 620-watt liftable solar array on the side of our motorhome. If you wanted to add more solar, you might consider something like this or add deployable array using light weight folding panels that you can point at the sun. Our side array makes a nice bedroom window awning, practically lifting itself with a couple gas struts, and it's easy to clean, standing safely on the ground. Next, we built a 12v, 560ah LiFePo-4 battery using 8, 280ah prismatic cells and a Heltec 330amp BMS. These cells fit perfectly under the steps of our MH where our old pair of golf cart batteries used to reside. We insulated the battery compartment, cut a small hole in our step risers and installed a tiny computer CPU fan to keep this space at close to room temperature, so we don't have to worry about the BMS shutting down charging due to low temperature - or their life reduced from getting too hot. Our 12v system uses an 80A Progressive Dynamics LFP converter/charger, a 1,000w Renogy inverter, a 50a Epever MPPT charge controller and a Lnex battery monitor. This 12v system powers all of our 12v appliances and can even run our residential fridge, computer and TV, if necessary, yet only cost us about $3,500. By mounting the solar array on the side of our coach, we left the roof free to rack 8, 550w solar panels down the length of our 35ft Class A, 15" off our roof, above our AC, vents, etc. It shades our entire roof, allowing plenty of cooling air underneath, increasing solar output and reducing the heat load on the air conditioners, yet our overall height is still just under 12 ft. Our 4,400w array can run both our A/Cs, household appliances and charge our batteries from solar at the same time. We mounted a Sungold Power all-in-one 48V, 5,000W Inverter/100A charge controller/battery charger, breakers and a Lnex battery monitor on the wall in our bedroom. It saves us space as well as money compared to a system built with individual components. We chose this model because it supports our 400voc solar array. Our 48v battery uses 16, 320ah prismatic cells and has a 200amp BMS. Together with our 560ah 12v bank, we have a total of 23.5 kwh of batteries onboard, (about the same capacity as 9 of your 200ah batteries) charged by 5,020 watts of solar. We removed the rooftop A/C we had in the bedroom and replaced it with an EG4 28.5 seer-2, 12k btu mini-split heat pump on the upper rear of our coach. It's super quiet and cools as well as our 14.5k btu Easy Start equipped Furrion we have up front, using about 1/3 the power. This 48v system provides 24/7 off-grid air conditioning and heat from the heat pump. We have a total off-grid electrical self-sufficiency without the need to run our generator. Our total budget for both 12 and 48v systems was around $11,500, including the $1,500 high-efficiency heat pump as we did all of the work ourselves saving us a ton of money. If we were to do it all over again today, we could do it about $350-$400 less, as some of the components we used, like our initial batteries, solar panels and even the heat pump have dropped in price since we bought them. I figured our ROI is less than 2 years, compared to spending $500 monthly in RV parks, (if you can find them that low) and it pays for itself within a year compared to a $225 weekly RV park rate. But the biggest advantage is the flexibility it gives us, as we no longer are forced to be wedged into tight RV parks, all lined up with other campers like sardines in a can. Like you guys, we now stay in some of the most beautiful wilderness areas imaginable, mostly free on Forest Service and BLM lands, regardless of the season. Last year we visited 11 states, without plugging into a power pedestal the entire time. Last winter we boondocked near Yuma, AZ. We're visiting family now in NC where boondocking places are pretty rare, so we're staying in a spacious, no-hookup site at a convenient RV park for only $100/mo., saving us $500/mo. off their normal rates. It's good to have options. Hope to see you down the road one day.
Thanks for subscribing @SuperSushidog and welcome to the channel! Your setup sounds so cool and very well thought out, amazing stuff. Boondocking isnt for everyone but it is for US and we prefer it now. Its good to hear ya'll have cracked the code of camping fees too and sounds like we use the same areas so its highly likely you'll see us around 🤙😁. Take care!
Loved the video and truly appreciate your very helpful advice for boondocking. Thank you.
Not a problem! Thanks for watching 🤙😃
Most places would let you pump your own gas if you asked. You can pump your own now as the rule changed. Because it was never a real law. Nobody but me pumped fuel into my bike.
When I'm in the state I actually prefer the full service, they even put in my rewards for me! Love Oregon.
