Pentair pool filter bottom replacement
Had my a year and it already sucks. Ridiculous. Small fortune too
@@biglebowski3961 submit a warranty claim with Pentair and they should be able to send someone out to fix or replace it.
@@snarkysharkypoolrepairs1887 Already did, thanks.
Hey great video! what’s the name of the tool you were using to open the bottom
My keypad is showing “alarm! Over current!” Does this mean the drive is bad? I contacted Pentair today but did not get any help.
@@BlakeLeJeune could be the drive or the motor. You have to disconnect the drive from the motor and then see if the drive still gives that error. If it does, give the over current alarm when it’s NOT connected to the motor, then it’s the drive. If it doesn’t give the alarm when it’s disconnected, then it’s the motor.
Thank you sir ! 😀
I would love to see a video on how to wiring this up to a system.
Is it normal every year they wear out.
Hi. I have a Pentair pump that went out also and was wondering if it threw a code f90052. Low power. Error. Was wondering when testing the wires with a voltage meter if one could read more voltage. I have the red at 125 and the black at 158 or so. Pentair told me it was the driver and to change a leg on the electrical. Was there any codes on the unit you exchanged?
Don’t do it…throwing cash in a pit. Get a single speed motor and matching impeller. Folks are begging me to make vari go away, brisk business..can barely keep up.
I would have cleaned the filters. Thanks for the video.
Good video. Question. What was the reason you replaced the lower filter container ? I vac my pool and within 3 days I get light old vac debris on the pool floor. Which I have to vac every week. It’s getting frustrated, I already replaced the 4 new filters the problem got a bit fix but still getting light green debris down the pool. I did a quick test by vac the pool with green dust debris and told my wife to hold the supply outlet with a n-95 to use it as a test. Sure enough it pick up light greenish coloring which is the exact dust on the floor. The pool is super clean now but when later when the pool is off it will eventually settle. Please help. Thanks. I’m a regular hands on home pool owner. Not a business or a pool tech
Would it be possible for you to share a video of the installation process, wiring etc.? I have the install guide but still would like to actually see the process in action. Thx
Hello, what’s the name of the wrench used for the drain plug
Good video but Wyatt kind of drill do I buy. Any particular one?
Never mind I see comment.
I'm going to try replacing the keypad portion of this, but my original is old (2008). Will the new keypad work with the pump? It is a Pentair Intelliflo vs+svrs Variable Speed Pump, 354017
Love the video! Just got myself a new drive kit, my old one got fried. But I have 3 different colored cables - red, green and black. Does it matter which one goes where?
Green goes to ground, red and black can go in the power post terminals.
@@snarkysharkypoolrepairs1887 Thanks! So the order of red vs black (red has to go in left terminal and black has to go in right terminal) doesn't matter.
@@snarkysharkypoolrepairs1887 Thanks! So the red and black can go in any order ? I am worried I might short it if I connect them to the wrong power post terminal.
@@jagantota5673 correct. It doesn’t matter on those two.
What is the name of that tool you used to remove the bolt on the clamp?
Impact driver with a 7/8th inch socket

Where did you purchase this drive? Looking for an inexpensive rout😬
I’ve got a rebel just spinning in circles. Should I just replace the drives? It’s under a year old
Replacing the left drive will resolve the issue. Part number : 360289 Also since it’s under a year old, you can contact Pentair directly and they should send out a warranty station to take care of it. The exception to that is if you purchased the vacuum online it only has a 60 day manufacturer warranty.
Did you ever resolve the spinning in circles issue with rebel? I have the exact same issue, and Service said all parts look fine. So not sure what to do.
Just curious if left drive replacement fixed the issue ?
It actually didn’t resolve the issue unfortunately I’m gonna try replacing the wheel next. I’m a pool tech and I bought at the supplier IE Superior Pool Products.
@@Micahguerero619 Oh man... that stinks... keep us updated if the wheel fixes the issue
I have stretched the springs in the reverse mechanism when it starts to slip & not engage with the inner LHS wheel ring gear. I think the spring tension becomes minimal. They should probably review the type of spring in the design. Bad idea not to start the wheel threads by hand first, prevents a cross threaded bolt.
That's a really good video. My pentair pump turn on for like 3-5 seconds and shuts off with a error message saying "Error Dry Priming". Do you think if the drive has gone bad?
Pour water into the pump and turn it on
I have a brand new one and the wheels do not budge like they are locked
Grab one wheel and force it to spin. Probably a tiny pebble lodged in between the gears.
Thanks bro perfect video! Love you man 👍
Thank you so much
THANK YOU SO MUCH TO SHOW HOW UNSCREW TWO SIDE , I CAN BREAK MY SYSTEM , SO YOU SAFE ME A LOT $$$$$$
You’re welcome!!!
you're a good man
Hi. I have power on my timer. The motor fan inside the pump can still move manually. I have no power on the keypad. It’s completely off. it possible that I need to replace this part as your showing on this video?
Check the electrical going into the pump drive for any “shorting” first. You’ll be able to see it melted or burnt up if so. If the electrical is shorted, then you need a new pump drive.
@@snarkysharkypoolrepairs1887 there is power on timer and power on pump. So I need a new drive for sure?
Have a similar product to this and it never worked properly despite the manufacturer replacing parts and servicing it, I then replaced the bearings in the cam housing that engages the gears with sealed metal bearings, these were slightly larger than the plastic ones and there is no free play left in the system now so the gears engage properly, the machine now works as it should!
Awesome great job! Did you figure it out thru watching the video here?
@@snarkysharkypoolrepairs1887 what parts to order? I have the same problem in my vacuum. Thanks in advance.

This is the worst instructional I have ever seen.
Let’s see your video
Anyone can submit something better then this
I have a new lil rebel..and it just sits..
It is either two things: There is something clogged in it OR it doesn’t have enough suction and needs to be adjusted at the valving.
nice - fast and ready for the next repair - video clean and lacking frills - well done
Thank you! Any repairs you are particularly interested in a video being made about?
Watching the dirt clear away was fun! Haha. Great info!
Good info, thanks!
