Roadtrip to The National Disability Summit!
In this episode . . . .
Join me on a road trip to the National Disability Summit! 🚗 This year's event was packed with inspiring moments, and I’m so grateful I could be part of it despite the challenges of living with progressive MS. 💪
One of the highlights of the summit was hearing Bill Shorten speak about his ongoing work with the NDIS, ensuring it continues to support those who need it most. 🎤 We also got to hear from some incredible disability advocates from all across Australia who are pushing for change and empowerment in our community. 👏
But the best part of the trip was taking a break from the summit to meet up with one of my Support Coordination participants, Gab, in the Albury area....

My review - Advanced Freedom Handi Pac Wheelchair bag and Every Human Adaptive clothing!!
I’ve got a whole storage tub filled to the brim with my meds and supplements!
I can definitely believe that. A pill for every ill! I’ve got so many prescriptions I find it hard to keep track of which pill is for what 😬
Nina!!! I've travelled back in time to re-read this. I hope you see it, if not read my Facebook Post about my bathroom. I have a new question in regards to 'what's directly connected to my disability'. When I was told by Australia's senior Mitochondrial Disease Professor at RNSH that I had Mito, I was put on what is called 'The Mito Cocktail'. That included Resource drinks that I have always gotten via NDIS as per NRSH team. Also part of this 'Mito Cocktail' is Coenzyme Q10 & Magnesium Orotate. These you may know are Supplements that I have been buying out of my DSP for all these years (12 yrs). As I have to take them, would the NDIS cover the cost like they do with my Resource drinks? I've always thought no they won't but they are 100% being taken due to my disability. Can you offer this woman some advice please? Cheers, I'm going Back To the Future, Helen R 😊
YAY, she's back! I couldn't stay there as my Mito messes with my body temp. Bugger. It's looks great though. My secret I can tell you here is I have an ABN & I'm starting a small business. Talked to my SC, my old accountant, my lawyer blah blah. I'm keeping it all off FB for now while I put things together. I've read your other comments & I need a website too! That's the hard part for me so I may need to hire a uni student or something. Maybe we can get Hotel to put aircon in some rooms, hehehe. I love old Hotels, your spa looked wonderful, that view! I'm glad you had a great time. I really think you need to find time for yourself Nina, very important for everyone. Hope to see you here next month 😊
Ooh! Whats your business going to be? I used Fiverr to have someone create my first website. You can use Canva to create a free site but it just doesn’t have SEO so depend what your needs are. Self care? What is that? 😂
My business will be selling homemade crafts via website & posting items to people. I used to sell crafts & plants on FB but now I will find it easier if I post out items as I can't always be awake for pick ups. I do a lot of stuff at night. I'm not wanting to be huge, just content on making people happy with my goods. One hint, some things may be....red! Nina, self care is very important young lady! Listen to me 😜
We have missed these ❤
🎉Thanks! I appreciate that. What would you like me to vlog about?
Hi Nina, it is bloody good to see your face pop up in my feed!!! I have been thinking of you and hoping you were doing okay. It looks like a great place for a trip to the blue mountains, great initiative to train anyone with disabilities. Loved seeing your two pharaoh hounds to 😊 I’m doing okay, nothing special happing in my life as such at the moment but are still fighting the god fight with you. The only different I’d that I n no longer dress in rockabilly clothing. Lots of love from Melbourne / Lina♥️
Oh hello you! I’m doing ok. Just busy doing life 😬 How are you overall? You without rockabilly clothes is just mind blowing. I guess times change but wtf!
I’ve got to get my website up and happening
Do it!
Love A COCK and the FUCK pillow !! I'm living in my family home of 62 years... I feel you.
I so appreciate your detailed review Nina 🙏 I have watched it numerous times and ordered this walker last week. It's due for delivery in Brisbane on Tuesday. I am so excited 🤗
I would think that the point of the Alinker is that it gives possibility of improving - in the advertising it says it takes hard work to use it - that is keeping on using it improves not only the muscles but also realigns brain to accept ability to walk. Also, Alinker has ability to rest legs, to just roll with the wheels. I am also thinking that a really good rollator/walker serves same purpose. I am setting aside money to possibly buy in future; meanwhile I’m using my brand new Rider Nitro Rollator, which is a dream for walking.
“Colour my world” - one of my fave songs! ❤
Hello Nina...u look great girl. Luv the colors and orange hair. Huggs Nina yr the bomb. Wonderfull work yr doing. Color my world with georgous Nina everyday, lolol. 🤣😂
Well done Nina. Incredible talk. You're a natural when it comes to connecting with people from all walks. You do indeed keep it real xxx 🥰🌻
Thankyou for your kind words x
Go Nina!!🎉
Thanks Omar!
Thank u lovely Nina for all yr inspiring contributions for disabled ppl. we r the best
Thankyou my friend
So great!
Thank you ❤
Fun to watch!😂
It was such a fun day!
Hi! I'm set for SC but so many are not. Do you work on tele-support? Like from anywhere in Australia?
Hi Sharon, Depending on the individual needs of the person . . . The short answer is yes to Telehealth but not; everyone is suitable for that. Many people still need face to face support.
I'd love to know where you got the double basket on wheels that that plants are in at the start of the video. And also what it's called? Love your attitude!!
Thanks! It’s a Clax Cart. Just google it to see where it can be bought. One of the best things I’ve bought.
Lolol Nina the Red Baron!! red hot Nina as always...I wanna eat u now girlll hahahahaha Happy Bi-Polar day lolol that's too funny. good job. u always cheer me up Nina....where have u been?? hmmmm keep posting.
Hey! I’ve been good but just very busy with work. Who knew starting your own gig was so time consuming? ❤ How are you?
@@ItsaWheelyGoodLifeCrumpton I'm trucking along too Nina. I have some disabilities and other debilating health issues too. always having to balance yr time and energy. I have chronic fatigue and bi-polar type 2. it's a real trip isn't it? lolol...'I hate bi-polar it's awesome'...hahaha..
So why did we have to spend millions building lifts etc in 2022/2023?
I visited Towradgi station recently. The whole area looks completely different.
Hi Nina, I thought it was the Physio rather than the OT that makes assessments on walkers?
I have always used an OT so either/or Physio can still do it
Loved the shots on the bike! So cool!
Thanks so much! The pics came back today and I’m honestly speechless. So pleased to have such a good photographer to work with.
$250. She wore a white coat on stage ... jeezuz. And says 'What we eat will cure MS' and 'MS is a gift'. You know how you can get that instant feeling about people ... well I haven't been anywhere near her, but - bad feeling, bad baaad feeling. Yeah she's great at business - she gives people with MS the business that's for sure.
This video was 10 months or more ago; I hope you are feeling better. All your animals are so unique and beautiful!
Yes, I am doing so much better x
Dang, that walker is pricey and your dogs are sooo beautiful!
Pricey but priceless in terms of how accessible it makes certain environments . . .and thank you
What a beautiful place to stay and unwind. It's good that you are living your best life, but try not to downplay or compare MS to other diseases. Illness is illness; someone told me one, a long time ago that, "it is not a contest". It is a very much a serious illness, as is mental illness. Living a long time with pain is not easy. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Thank you for sharing.
That’s an interesting point. I’m not aware consciously if I am downplaying anything at all. Certainly, life has its rough spots but they do pass for the most part
You're a hoot! Thank you for the morning 😂 😂"kinda like a vagina" 😂 😂
Hey Somebody has to wear the white of the supervisor! Love ❤️ this project Camera skills don’t create themselves, someone has skills to get that done.
Thanks!
Really weird with no windows! View or no. Also the entry and bath entry didn't look too accessible to me. Lovely sounds though, of birds.
Maybe the lack of windows is to encourage people to go outside. Just a thought. It would be hard to stay in there except to sleep.
You sound so wise.. maybe that's amusing to you!!
Wise? That’s a first but a lovely compliment indeed. Thankyou.
It looks like a very healing journey
It was. It took me a week to ‘reenter’ my usual life.
Thanks Nina for showing us yr retreat trip. Very nice. all illnesses are as serious as each other. I think mental illness is the hardest to live with. No-one gets out alive in the end but living yr best life is what matters.
I agree with all of that x
No, police are at the bottom of the list of most women.
Good on you for seeking out support that feels right for you. Really happy for you Nina!
Thanks. It’s amazing how much the right help makes such a difference.
Love your work Nina💗 You are inspirational. A good specialist is worth it. So glad you found a good one!
Thankyou xx
Thanks Nina so much for yr awesome video. seeing u have fun makes me feel better. I am very isolated with long term illnesses and I try to stay happy the best I can. I have chronic fatigue and Bi-Polar type 2...I probably noticed i'm a bit whacky lolol but i luv to have fun too. and yes epstein barr virus is behind most illness belief it or not. it is the underlying cause of chronic fatigue also. i've studied it in depth and it's rampant in the community. there are about 60 varieties of epstein barr. so some are more severe than others. it's a real bastard of a thing to get rid of but it can be done.
Hello! I love nothing more than hearing from people who watch my vlogs . . .it makes my day x So Thankyou for that x
Looks like a great time Nina..:)
It was such a great day . . . .I assume you mean whale watching x
I am on NDIS and already looking at ordering the boots. They have a form to fill out for NDIS as I am plan managed. I love the idea of using the beach matting with the beach water. I was thinking about approaching my council about getting a couple of the beach walkers as they already have a few beach wheelchairs but need trailer to get it to beach. Where this everyone can just put in car. We hire them from council and pay $100 but we get full money back when returning.
How did you like the boots? Beach matting is so needed in so many more places. I’d love to hear how you go accessing the beach this coming summer . . .
Hey Nina, great to meet you yesterday and wow you got a great video of the whole day! I hope there's more of that sort of thing too, such a great opportunity to get out and live life, and meet others with MS too - so good! Thanks for sharing!
Couldn’t agree more. When I think back to that day, I still feel exhilarated. Lovely to meet you too
LMAO Nina...so good to see u feeling alot better. Yr the bomb. Hot stuff Nina...I hope u do this again and video it for us. U put a Tiger in my tank just watching u!
Let your Tiger out!!!! I’d love to do it again. When I think of this day, I can feel again how amazing it felt to be on the racetrack.
Omg this is the joyful disabled content I need 🙌🙌🙌 I just picked up gardening after 2 years of being disabled and it is so good for the soul. Love your wholeass vibe, babe!
Thankyou and welcome! X
This is my first time watching your channel. Loved this. I had no idea this device existed...I must look into it! I stopped going to the beach as it was inaccessible to me. I hope you're feeling better soon!
Welcome! I hope you rediscover the beach. It is a place of peace and joy for me x
I recommend Trionic Veloped
Great to have you back. Have missed your posts.
Thankyou! I’ve missed vlogging. It’s nice to be missed x
So if I get in the water for a swim, I have trouble getting out! Like I'm a beached whale. I need something to lean on at the shallow end. Don't know if I can trust people If I leave it there or the water might take it
Would you be at the beach alone? Maybe take someone with you and they can help you with those problems then x
paired with beach matting it would be perfect
Yes! Indeed it would be
That’s what I was thinking. Use wheelchair to end of beach matting then use it from there down to water. I am lucky as our close beach has matting and our beach is very close to the road.
Thank you so much for your channel. I hope you’re doing well. I see I’m a little late to the party, but I miss gardening so much now that I am disabled. Please keep up the good work!
My pleasure x Thanks for watching !
Curious since I haven’t seen many videos on the Handipac but have you traveled on airlines with it as like a carry on? It looks quite nice with its size
Hi! Not with the current pandemic . . . .but I’m sure it would be a good carry on option. I just haven’t done that yet
Lol I love the colorful language!! First time seeing you. I’m an independent living advocate, just researching on some accessible gardening tools.
I need soap 😜
since you already owed a veloped, what terrains does the walker do that you couldn't do with the veloped? Is one tippier? My husband has Progressive supranuclear palsy and falls a lot and his walking is extremely slow. He walks constantly though and specifically on a beach
I don’t think either one would be good for walking on sand. He would need a beach Walker. You really need an OT to assess his specific needs. The Veloped is tippier because it has 3 wheels and best suited to outdoor bush walks etc. The Walker is good for outdoor walking eg concrete paths and places where suspension is needed. Indoors is perfect also depending on the space you have. But neither are really suited for the beach. I’ve progressed now beyond the point of bushwalks with the Veloped which is a great shame but that’s the nature of progressive disease.
Heyy Nina. Good to see u. yr improving. Lovely to see new Delta doggie. Life without a dog is a piece of shit! Cats are mental. One day at a time nina. yr very lucky and blessed in yr life. Waking up with sexy Nina at large!
