Great post, thank for the comment. The people in positions of authority have said exactly that! The mayor said he wants a different type of tourist and his actions are louder than his words. Evey person in a position of authority picks his or her words very carefully in today hyper sensitive Uber politically correct world, so you won't get a direct don't come here or there. But the limiting of behavior that has become unwanted speaks louder.

Thanks for your comment. I really appreciate your opinion. Sosúa has a much larger income stream than the market you described.( I prefer to keep any racial descriptions off the channel. It is way too sensitive, and when it's done it is counter productive). Granted the market you described is very important part of the local economy. The money that is pushing investment and responsible for the positive changes are the real estate investment. Once a person goes away from downtown Pedro Sosúa that person can see Sosua is changing. Lots of nice restaurants, more villas and condo complexes that cater to the upper middle class are being built.. It's hard to find a cost effective property in Sosúa now. I am happy I started buying here 15 years ago or I wouldn't have the holdings I have. I would almost be priced out of the market compketly. In fact banks are now starting to give loans to foreigners now. ( Not sure if that is a good or bad thing). Sosúa is becoming a retirement community, many,many Canadians and Americans are leaving N.A. and bringing their wealth with them. Downtown Pedro is surviving. While the areas outside downtown are thriving. The next time you are in town, take notice of the condo complexes and Gated Communities that have changed rules to improve the quality of life for the people who live in those places. Examples are No loud music, no quads in the community , one girl per client, or no loud behavior overall. Money is in sales not rental commission.
