The problem with this kind of talk is that it spot light one or a few people's experience and GENERALIZED them as if they applies to EVERYBODY. What these speakers do, they build an intellectual superstructure on top of THEIR predetermined reality. All answers flows out of their ideals/their brand of interpretation of the Bible. Listen carefully to the Q&A, every relationship becomes a war-on-sin relationship project. Not just sexual sin, you can use the SAME rhetoric ANY sin. Just think if the role is reversed, someone only treats you as a war-on-sin relationship project. What kind of relationship would you have with that person? Is it going to be a genuine friendship that respect of each other's life choices? Would it be a controlling relationship that you agonized over the other person not "changing" according to you plan? Would that relationship develop codependency? My last thought is nobody can be Jesus who has a complete picture of a person's life from God's perspective. Beware of the two little words "We know..."(John 9)

I think that Mr Pipers explanation of why not if he could go back in time and just remain single all his life rambling and off point and doesn’t give a good reason for himself. This seems so typical of many modern pastors trying to pressure people who want to be married into thinking the single life will be so much better. I personally know that growing old single can be extremely difficult but that is something they probably can not empathize with being married.

Well I think it's NOT ENOUGH to believe that God is sovereign, and just accept whatever happens to you. What God ordained to happen (Providence) is none of our business, our business is to do what he wants / commands us to do (God's preceptive will). And the bible does speak about suffering , and that God said one who suffers ought to pray, and that one who prays ought to believe that he has received what he asked. And that if your neighbor at night would give you what you want because of your importunity, how much more God ? And if the unrighteous judge would give the widow what she wants because her persistence will wear him out, how much more God ? Moreover goes beyond that, and commands us to ask for whatever we want (among other things), and that if we being evil, know how to give good gifts, how much more God give to those who ask Him ? And in fact we are to specifically ask God not to lead us into trials.

Oh this was so profound for me! My grandson is trans. I dont want to lose him, so its hard to stand up with my beliefs. He was a very atrong christian! The school in his juniir year helped him to believe that he was trans. The lord definately led me here, with no looking for this! I have struggled with my thoughts on this all day! Blessings to you!

I'm sorry, but if you believe in meticulous divine determinism as he describes and claims around the 7:00 mark, then virtually everything else he says is totally and completely pointless. If someone who doesn't believe as he does isn't at that conference, how dare anyone suggest that they should be. If they aren't there, it is because God devinely determined that they wouldn't be. If they don't believe as you do, it is because God divinely determined that they wouldn't, so how can you possibly suggest that they are wrong for believing as they do, if God Himself determined what beliefs they would hold to? How dare you suggest that all people should be Calvinists, when God has decreed that they wouldn't. Meticulous devine determinism is a blatantly self-defeating belief, and it is unfortunate when otherwise Bible-believing and God-fearing people hold on to such a viewpoint.

The interviewer seems like a little bit arrogant in asking questions to Ptr. John Piper. Or Am I wrong?

Cold reality- Everything played out in the linear time was preplanned - foreknown and predestined by God himself. So the next time you worry about screwing up a witness to an unbeliever remember that even that screwup was a part of the plan. Never dare to assume that your own contribution caused your salvation. You did not cooperate with Grace You did not learn or realize who God was. You weren’t allowed anything beyond what God allowed first. So why would an unworthy sinner have any kind of authoritative power over the power and sovereignty of God? Either God is a Big God or he’s a god that needs your free will help. Remember that the next time you share the word of God with an unbeliever and remember …while the whole world lies in the power of the evil one, the redeemed AND unredeemed lie in the power of the sovereignty of God and every word uttered from your mouth is the plan and action of God. Don’t just be bold, be confident that every word spoken is not yours but his. Your mistakes are your perceptions. They neither undo nor shift or change the outcomes of God. That is reformed theology.

There's something not quite right in John's attitude if he has to fill even the last 3 hours in his day with works. Where's the time for relationships, his wife and family and neighbours, space for relationship with God. This seems to be a very works based ethic he is living by.
