Well, maybe we haven’t met yet, but I want to wish you the best success in your amazing project. Bakery is one of those projects where you must put a lot of effort, passion and love and that’s definitely something that I’m sure runs through your veins as a Reba’s daughter. Thank you for the tempeh recipe ! I’ll use it ! I saw that they are now selling tempeh at our local Winco here in California. It is exciting to see more and more vegan protein alternatives in our regular grocery stores nowadays. I could never find any of those other than in health food stores before !

I buy meat substitutes too, along with « real » meat. We don’t eat meat everyday either !) I’m always looking for new ways and recipes for those plant- based products, aside from scrambled tofu , and Asian ~garlic and ginger~ tofu recipes ( which often involve too much sugar). Congrats for trying to get organic products as much as you can on a budget ! Yes, Aldi has some of those at a more affordable price! Wishing that you could share Seitan recipe 😊 !
It is so much more sustainable when using less meat! Of course our children are small and I know it will cost more once they are eating more! Aldi is really great though! I haven't made Seitan in quite some time. I need to find a recipe again. But the Tempeh bacon is GREAT and very simple to make! My recipe is: 1 package tempeh cut into strips, place is food storage container with a lid. Pour this marinade over it: 3 Tbl Tamari, 2 Tbl Maple syrup, 1 Tbl olive oil generous dash of garlic powder, 2 Tsp liquid smoke, 1.5 tsp balsamic vinegar. Let marinate in the fridge a few hours or up to a week. You can cook a few pieces at a time if you like and just keep it marinating until you want to eat it. Fry it is a little olive oil.
Good shopping! It looks like lots of healthy food. I have not added up how much we spend monthly for groceries in NC. We have a 27 year old male who eats lots of calories, myself (a vegetarian who does gluten-free), and my mother who is also vegetarian. Unfortunately, we probably pay too much because we all have very different tastes in food.
Having different dietary needs would increase your bill that is for sure! And having to cook every day is a lot too. But it definitely saves money! Thank you for your comment!

I know self-criticism is only a temptation , it pulls you down and paralyzes your thoughts. I often feel it too, with my knitting projects and accomplishments, but others always seem to appreciate what I do, too ! You are beautiful . Let His light shine through what feels sometimes like darkness!

Thanks for sharing your busy day! I am also plant-based. It has been difficult for me to find simple but good plant-based dishes to make. I recently discovered "Sarah's Vegan Kitchen" on RUclips which has good ideas. Just a heads-up! I would like to see a video on making a good sourdough bread. I've had some personal struggles with sourdough starters!

I definitely have eaten a lot of plant based meals over the years, and generally I prefer it, but it’s certainly more challenging with a family that likes different foods than I do!! Awesome! I’d love to make a video on my whole proof making sourdough bread. Adding that to my list of video ideas! 🥰

You are a real dynamo. I was wondering on the standards for a micro bakery. Do you have to do anything special to adhere to health and safety standards?
@@nicki66 thanks! Absolutely, everything must be cleaned and well sanitized, however, in my state you don’t need to be licensed for cottage food. There are also certain items I cannot sell, like cream cheese frosting…
I put the bread on the oven and add a cup of water on the bottom of my oven and shut the door quickly

We remember those early years when you were at OMT, meeting your parents and some of your brothers. My kids (now 27, 25, 21, 19 and 13), especially Colin and Hannah have the fondest memories of our visits. Your journey is a sweet joy to hear again, and we are thankful to witness how your path pivoted toward marriage and motherhood. I often recall our sweet conversations, and breaking your baked bread with you.
