"This is a super boomer-y thing to do" he says with a head full of grey hair. 😂
How about letting people do what they want if its not hurting you....
He's just giving advice, you can take it or leave it, not a big deal. It's worse to deny someone the right of an opinion just because you dissagree with it..
He’s just trying to help here Becky, go get some coffee and keep scrolling.
I accept your apology, have a good day
The sleeve is less expensive than the spray head so if you damage it weed eating, it costs less dummy.
Any correctly installed rotor or spray head eliminates any opportunity for weed eating or edging damage, full stop. This is a gimmick and it's stupid. It's also marginally less expensive because if you have the money to afford a lawn with sprinklers, you have the money to purchase a $20-30 rotor and swing joint and do it correctly
I put in my own sprinkling system using that jalopy head had no issues don't know what he's mumbling about
It's a cheat. A lazy workaround for lazy work. That's good it works fine for you now, but it's a silly concept for people with limited knowledge on the proper way to repair or replace sprinklers
Try flushing each valve
Thank you so much!
This is why I do almost all my sprinkler work myself now. Plus I have a more informed and confident feel in wtf is going on on my property.
I’ve never heard them called U valves before. I might just have to use that since the bottom part definitely looks like a U.
@everythinghomerepair1747 there are gate valves and u valves, and the u valve has the harder shoulder. Gate valve is roundedwith no shoulder. They are slightly different internally, IIRC
Are those the 1800's I just ordered from Amazon to replace my ancient Lawn Genie spray nozzles? Which adjustable spray nozzles have a better track record in your experience?
@tilu3303 the hunter VAN nozzles are more robust but the spray pattern is not as good. Still provides proper precipitation rate and coverage as others, but doesn't clog as quickly or easily. I prefer hunter VAN all day for reliability because it will keep the marginally less quality spray pattern intact far longer than a Rainbird VAN which are an absolute CHORE to maintain
@tilu3303 regarding high efficency, MP Rotators are finicky by definitely worth it. The rainbird rotary RVAN nozzles are cool, toolless, but I've been running into issues with nameplate throw due to Colorado PRS heads limited to 45 psi. They all function best at 55psi, but politicians..
In-line pressure regulator?
@tilu3303 they have one but it's set fine. Think about the inconsistency of flow and psi. It's baffling
Good advice! Thanks
I love you channel mate, you do nice clean work. Everything is well planned and laid out nicely. I wish more contractors put in the same effort as you, it would make repairs so much easier. I hear you, I'm grinding through a bunch of invoices tonight after working all long weekend.
Does Blu-lock make a 1/2 male NPT to 1/2 male NPT swing joint kit? Or do we have to buy all the pieces separately?
The swing joint sure solves a lot of problems, but there are still situations where a cutoff riser serves a practical purpose. Certainly not in the examples you presented, however. My backyard system was put together with cutoff risers 30 years ago and there are only a few that the surrounding sod/thatch hasn't increased by about an inch in height. Those risers will be replaced with swing arms.
You're not a good professional if you can't be improved upon
I'm running two above ground rotary rainbirds in my backyard shoots 80 feet,my yard is almost a 1/4 acre,re growing my yard,I we let it get bad for to long, weeds, crap grass,I scalped the yard and planted alot of seed and its slowly coming back
box looks good and the piping with the fabric. Wiring looks like a bird's nest and could be cleaned up a bit.
It's fine, none of the wires are crossed. If you were in the box you would see the are all in order and no crossing with common. I just jammed them back in before I made the video, because this took 5 attempts to get right, and the short still sucked
The first rounds on me my man! Great video!
Any issues with surrounding the sprinkler body with tamped down paver base gravel and then placing an old school concrete yard donut around the top and slightly higher than the sprinkler head. Thoughts are, that when the lawn mower inevitably runs across the sprinkler. The wheels only contact the donut which is supported by paver base and resists sinking in the soil.
Where are you located? I’m looking to get a quote for a system in my home
How the fuck did they put a pgp in a impact body. And why did they not install a rain bird 5000. And why the fuck is it on a riser. I’m so happy u do shit the right way.
What's insane is that's an actual retro fit pgP MADE for this housing. I can't believe I've never seen this in 15 years until now!
All landscaping and lawncare business we always look for staff like that and wr care
You crying more like a woman, just fix it get paid and advise the customer and walking way
i’m gonna have to look up what hunter pgp, impact roder, and nipple riser means. 😂
Hey now, I dooooooo care. And also make sure not to mess up someone else’s property lol but I love your videos. But show more love to us landscapers 😅
Haha! You are one of the good guys. Very few seem to pay attention to the irrigation
@@303sprinklers that I will agree with lol For instance, I did indeed break a sprinkler line once. But I capped it off and paid money out of pocket to buy the parts on lunch to fix it. The reality of it is people need to be more responsible and not rush a job that requires care and patients. Yeah, keep a steady speed but all in all don’t be responsible. Some companies don’t repay you for paying for your mistake out of pocket and I bet that’s why some people don’t do anything about it. Bad thing is you won’t know until pressure builds up in the system. By that time the person who messed it up is already long gone. But your videos are great man 👍🏼 keep it up!
My husband does this for a living. Nothing drives him more crazy (but gets him more business) than lazy landscapers and construction workers.
The purpose ppl have this system is for remote access from their smart device. Just wait for the owner
Do you have links? I can’t find those on Home Depot site. Thank you
For having a ir Irrigation system their grass looks like crap. What's the point.
Funny pipe is good too with saddles
I only use hunter and rainbird . But I never install my valves in manifold . I always install my valves where I have same number of heads on each side
Weird, that must be an older one, I think Wink sold those at one time. I LOVE my Rachio 3, it has manual controls on the front, but who would use those? It's way easier to use on my iPhone standing where the zone is that I want to adjust. It's super smart, it links to my personal weather station to check weather conditions, allows me to specify sprinkler head types, and grass vs plants, links to watering restriction data, and automatically adjusts the time and durations that are best for that configured zone. The app is intuitive and easy to use.
Love my Hunter MP Rotators!!
@mikemalone007 we're stuckwith 45 psi max heads because politicians. So we don't get full performance, which I find at 50-55psi dynamic pressure
Decent job but as some one who has to deal with this stuff I have rebuilt all of them on pedestals with manifolds much easier to access and fix
Smart!
I'm not sure what you mean. I should have installed dv100A valves with the tee upright, but the parts store provided these when I ordered and I didn't check the packaging until I got to my job. Pedestal?
I don't like when customers or anyone manually opens the valve to water an area. Because they always end up breaking the valve especially if it's old.
Hardly ever see this where I’m at
That's awesome
Every program has a start time 15 to 45 minutes apart.
Huh? I don't follow
People are not very bright. If you have to have a contractor in to do work, CHECK OUT their work in other locations. Also check with the Better Business Bureau and online reviews. If there is a professional organization for their work, call and speak with them. Don't be lazy and just take the lowest bid...you will get crappy work and/or people working on your property who cannot answer your simplest of questions, mostly because they cannot speak English.
I have a company here in Utah that I started this year. It’s been good but slow growing.
Congrats! That's awesome
100% agree with you. I do sprinkler work in my neighborhood and program and fix everything perfectly but them my customers come and they mess with the controller and drip times and don’t know what to do so they call me to go fix the timer and it’s a zoo in the program. I wish they all locked so people could bit get into them and fuck them up
Every video I watch I keep telling myself, God I wish you lived in New Jersey
Hmm. I need to learn more
Stay tuned man I have lots of good stuff in the works as I see it
🙌💪
It's really not that bad a gig. It SUCKS being wet and muddy all day every day for 6 months, but so worth the 5 months off
I hate all the installers in North Texas not using swing pipes or use short pop-ups that only work if the grass is scalped. So much incompetence.
Exactly! What in the crap?! I must rage against the practice
I bought one of those orbit blu-lock sprinkler systems, all it came with was half inch. Is this gonna be a problem? Very small yard I’m dealing with
You want to run 1" lateral pipe with 80# poly NSF. Blu lock swing pipe is ONLY for the tie in to the head off the lateral. You can cover up to a 35' radius with rotors or 1804 with mp rotators 3000 nozzles
Totally agree, how much is that new connection your talking about?
Parts cost, two mip elbows, spigot elbow or street elbow as they are commonly called, swing pipe... about $4-5 retail Maybe less. I dunno, I pay contractor pricing from the distributor. Home Depot Blu lock isn't the same quality. It's shit
@@303sprinklersWhere does a DIY'er buy the contractor grade Blu-lock parts?
Who cares
Hahaha! People in the industry. You one of those cut off nipple fellas?
I was gonna say same thing lol
Love this
I'm not very nice about it anymore
@@303sprinklers all good. I’m learning a lot from you. Thank you.
@@TCR128 awesome! You can always email us or reach out through text, I'm usually able to respond within a day
I’m the DIY guy. Help me. What do I need?
Check out my most popular short. Blu lock 1/2" threaded elbow, Blu lock swing pipe, double elbow Blu lock connection, and spray head
