    anyone have any tips on nodes that one can plug in to slim the distance between the bricks after you create a base using for example brick pattern nr 4/5?

      @@Titanosuchus after creating a pattern you can do a HQ Blur, the use a levels or a Threshold node to control the spacing!

    The Ben Wilson Color Variation doesn't seem to work on the latest Substance Designer or am I doing something wrong when trying to install one of these tools? Are we supposed to drag and drop the BW Color Variation the same way? Every time I do it says it needs to update a lot of files and then when I say okay, nothing shows up.

      @@FutureMaterialArtists I got it to work. Once I did the file conversion it asked for when i drag and drop, I was able to drop it in again, except this time it prompted me which type of the node I wanted and I chose "Complimentary"

    How would this workflow change if you are using Packed Textures such as Unreal 4 Packed from Substance Painter? I see you're exposing the individual textures into parameters which works fine for those nodes, but how would you do a packed one that has the roughness, metalness, and AO?

      In this case you would have to do exactly the same but with only one map. Texture Maps have their respective RGB outputs, or you can use a component mask to get the desire channel and then edit the rest!

      @@tiredguy2753 hey! This is a step by step, I go over the already created graph and I show you node by node. This is for beginners who have some grasp of it. But in the future I am preparing a 101 course where i go for starters!

      @@FutureMaterialArtists Sounds great, so many designer "tutorials" are time laspes for whatever reason. In comparison if one looks up tutorials on blender or zbrush, maya etc... you get the step by step style but designer for whatever reason designer is almost always a time lapse- its frustrating...

    This is a really nice video, but i wish youd mention Anisotropy, as it relates to making grinding patterns on metal surfaces, like you see on machined/lathed metals. The directional noise map you made could be connected to the anisotropy rotation map to good effect and could be used to bend light perpendicular to the brushing direction.

    What are your thoughts on the Poly Quadratic Spline node? Can't i use that with shapes node like combination i mean.

      Hey there Chillie! For the moment I havent play a lot with splines node yet I am familiar with this node. It can be quite useful for creating ornaments and threads . Try using it with a Point List to have more control over it and scatter objects!

      @@bbrother92 yes! This allows you to create patterns in seconds. In ps you would have to draw this, in this case By changing the inital shape or other parameters you get different results!

      @@bbrother92 Hey! Substance Designer Outputs Images, now you can use this to create masks for shaders or VFX. You can also create VFX, texture props or Susbtance Painter generators!

      @@bbrother92 When it comes to prodcution out of one Susbtance Graph you can make several variations. Like if I create a brick wall, I can get 5 variations without having to start from scratch and with full control!
