Great work! Love the technique
@@ITALIAJ23 Thanks!

I've learned. Thanks for sharing
@@juanchen-ku4jr You are welcome!
Great video! 👍
Thanks! I hope it was interesting!
Amazing tutorial Thanks so much
@@VfxArtistSurajeetmondal You are welcome!
Awesome tip!
@@edh3268 Thanks hope it is useful!
Nice tutorial!
anyone have any tips on nodes that one can plug in to slim the distance between the bricks after you create a base using for example brick pattern nr 4/5?
@@Titanosuchus after creating a pattern you can do a HQ Blur, the use a levels or a Threshold node to control the spacing!
The Ben Wilson Color Variation doesn't seem to work on the latest Substance Designer or am I doing something wrong when trying to install one of these tools? Are we supposed to drag and drop the BW Color Variation the same way? Every time I do it says it needs to update a lot of files and then when I say okay, nothing shows up.
mmmm that is weird, Ben is part of the helpers of our community he usually is active you can try pinging the role and asking for help there. Here is hoe to join: discord.gg/PpTCFyR6qS
@@FutureMaterialArtists I got it to work. Once I did the file conversion it asked for when i drag and drop, I was able to drop it in again, except this time it prompted me which type of the node I wanted and I chose "Complimentary"
@ nice! Gonna save this for the rest of
Viktor from arcane?? 😢
Designer? maybe UE
@@Zergatul_UA hey! Yes it is unreal engine!
Loving your series and content! Thank you for the taking the time to help everyone become better material artists and not just keeping all the secrets for yourself. Much appreciated!
You are welcome! FMA was founded for that and I want to spread this as much as I can for anyone who needs it!
so helpful
There are more tips coming soon!
This is...
Hey what version of UE is this? Also nice video!
Hey! This is the latests version of Unreal Engine! 5.5.0
How would this workflow change if you are using Packed Textures such as Unreal 4 Packed from Substance Painter? I see you're exposing the individual textures into parameters which works fine for those nodes, but how would you do a packed one that has the roughness, metalness, and AO?
In this case you would have to do exactly the same but with only one map. Texture Maps have their respective RGB outputs, or you can use a component mask to get the desire channel and then edit the rest!
Great video! Thank you for this! See you all in your amazing Discord server. You're best!
@@edh3268 Thanks for the kind words! Hope to see you in our events as well there is a lot we can help you with!
Bro its so long 2 hour 30 mins😭
@ChillieGaming would you like to have ir split into parts for next time?
I think it is a great idea to split this up. Great session btw!
@ Thanks! The next parts we will split them to be more digestible!
@@FutureMaterialArtists I had to watch the video in 2x to save time lol
@ Thanks for watching it anyways! Next one we will make it in shorter times between 30-40 min!
How to get this project?
Appologies for my last comments that aren't showing up. I figured that it hasn't been deleted but not posted because it contains links. Anyways... the Sine Wave node can be found on Gumroad by Matthew Taylor. It's called: Wave Filters Pack - Substance Designer
I am wondering is this a narrated step by step type course or more of a time lapse type course?
@@tiredguy2753 hey! This is a step by step, I go over the already created graph and I show you node by node. This is for beginners who have some grasp of it. But in the future I am preparing a 101 course where i go for starters!
@@FutureMaterialArtists Sounds great, so many designer "tutorials" are time laspes for whatever reason. In comparison if one looks up tutorials on blender or zbrush, maya etc... you get the step by step style but designer for whatever reason designer is almost always a time lapse- its frustrating...
@ I know it happened the same when I was learning this 5 years ago, i will go over each detail even in the Free RUclips tutorials!
Nice
@@kagan8579 hope it was useful!
Please keep teaching us. You are the best out there. ❤❤❤❤
@@pix2cad490 Thanks! This words really mean a lot 💙
Thanks a lot for the detailed breakdown, specially for the websites for where to collect real world references, never knew "Unsplash" its a total game changer and will save a lot of my time for gathering references 🙂
This is a really nice video, but i wish youd mention Anisotropy, as it relates to making grinding patterns on metal surfaces, like you see on machined/lathed metals. The directional noise map you made could be connected to the anisotropy rotation map to good effect and could be used to bend light perpendicular to the brushing direction.
@@EthanFilms Yes! That is how I did the render but for this part I wanted to keep it simple for next one we will get more into those details!
Videos are awesome, but I just cannot not notice "YES" very much
Hey I am glad you loved the video! I will work on the Yes part, happens a lot when I get nervous!
@@FutureMaterialArtists no worries, we need quality designer content!
Insane tutorial, this is one of the most complicated steps, to add deformations without “merging” individual bricks or make them look distorted, thanks for this useful information.
@@Alexanomano thanks! I am glad this tutorial was so usefull for you!
Pretty good talk Ezequiel. I'm in a similar situation in a neighboring country. Brazil. Will follow these steps for sure to enhance my material creation skills.
Thanks! Wish you the best!

What are your thoughts on the Poly Quadratic Spline node? Can't i use that with shapes node like combination i mean.
Hey there Chillie! For the moment I havent play a lot with splines node yet I am familiar with this node. It can be quite useful for creating ornaments and threads . Try using it with a Point List to have more control over it and scatter objects!
@@FutureMaterialArtistsWould love to have an tutorial by you using the spline node to create some awesome shapes
@@nutritiousmush4619 i will add this to list! Next week we will get marble and then metallic surfaces! Is there any particular shape in splines?
@@FutureMaterialArtists Can you explain what is the point of making this complex material - can you just use photoshop?
@@bbrother92 yes! This allows you to create patterns in seconds. In ps you would have to draw this, in this case By changing the inital shape or other parameters you get different results!
Hey Ezequiel! I just wanted to stop by and tell you that I really appreciate your videos and the work you are putting in. Starting next year, I want to specialize in fashion visualization and texturing. Right now, I am a teacher and 3D-generalist but once this year is over, I will be an even more active viewer and visiter of your channel and discord server. Keep it going! This is great stuff. Everytime my students ask me about great Substance Designer ressources, I point them to you. Have a nice day, I hope this comment will reach you! :D
@@Gemphilino hey there Man! Thanks for those kind words it really fuels me to keep going! ❤️ Starting into something new specifically by yourself is something really brave, i had to do it 5 years ago it was really hard but it was so worth it!! Wish you the best!
Would like you to cover the next part of this video Like What goes on behind the scene when creating complex material , how to approach a material and all that , advanced tips and tricks to create complex blend , complex color variation methods etc.
We will get to it then! Maybe a Material Blending tutorial could be good
@@FutureMaterialArtists hi does SD outputs only textures?
@@bbrother92 Hey! Substance Designer Outputs Images, now you can use this to create masks for shaders or VFX. You can also create VFX, texture props or Susbtance Painter generators!
@@FutureMaterialArtists i just dont get what's the profit making procedural image - just for one texture - look like to much effort
@@bbrother92 When it comes to prodcution out of one Susbtance Graph you can make several variations. Like if I create a brick wall, I can get 5 variations without having to start from scratch and with full control!
