This is my favorite song in the whole movie! When I am down I come to this song. It’s a very comforting song. I think as a child, (and still as an adult) I identified heavily with Charlie. It always felt like my mother singing to me. A beautiful scene and song
Willy Wonka/Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is about more than a silly contest. It’s a lesson to never give up on your dreams. Just be glad you’re you…
This actress also played the old lady character in fallout 3 who you have to find a violin for, and when you do she constantly plays classical music over the radio for you
One of my favorite songs EVER! something about it is so pure. Love singing along with it too, I appreciate the vocal technique she had and it's easy to blend along.
Just before this scene, she says “There are A Hundred Billion people in the world,” but that’s not right. Back in 1971, there were 3 Billion people and now in 2024 there are 7 billion.
Ok captain pedantic, 3 billion, 6 billion, doesn't matter, could be 20 gazillion for all it mattered to Charlie, the point he was trying to get across is he'd lost all hope of ever winning
This song is important to me because as i grow older and experience more. I honestly hate to say but my sunshine dims and my smile fades. "Deep down you know the world is still your toy" Gotta hold that kid i used to know close and my lucky stars closer. "Cheer up charlie, do... Just be glad youre you" corny but when i tell you those words have never held truer.
You get blue like everyone but me and grandpa Joe can make your troubles go away Blow away There they go Cheer up Charlie Give me a smile What happened to that. Smile I used to know Don’t you know ur grin has always been my sunshine Let that sunshine show Come on Charlie no need to frown Deep down you know the world is still your toy When the world gets heavy never pit a Pat em up and at em boy Someday sweet as a song Charlie’s lucky day will come along till that day you got to stay in strong Charlie up on top is right where you belong look up Charlie you’ll see a star just follow it and keep your dream in view pretty soon the sky is gonna clear up Charlie cheer up Charlie do Cheer up Charlie just be glad your you.
To me this song this song meant a lot because how i grew up there house reminds me of my grandmas house because she can’t afford to get everything fixed so I felt I understood because he was poor and wanted a once in a life time experience his family never got too experience many families don’t have money to go places the songs telling you everything will be ok
True but in the end Charlie's grandpa believed in Charlie's will get a golden ticket for the factory. They both had the same hopes and dreams to go there Also he gave up on the tobacco and use the money that Charlie gave him to buy a Wonka bar Sadly no golden ticket but came later
I've always appreciated the differences between Charlie and the other kids. He's this forlorn, downcast boy, almost sickly looking, who has a sense of self doubt which makes him so relatable and endearing. The other kids are so self absorbed, never wanting for anything, spoiled brats. It makes you feel for Charlie even more in this scene, seeing him wandering the streets, not realising how much he means to his family and losing hope that he can have something his heart desires.
This song brrings me tears she just wants him to be happy eaither way 😢 wish my mom was that way with me cheer me up or something but never has happened only with her other grown favorite kids oh well..
I was wondering why people weren’t liking this song and people were making it sound like there was some big reason as to why people don’t like it. Is it really just because people find it boring. If that’s all it is then that’s ridiculous, it’s a sweet song and if people find it boring the way they go about expressing that opinion is annoying
most skipped scene in a movie lol
Diana Sowle had such a beautiful voice! ❤ 🇺🇸
Me literally any time anyone feels sad
Her voice is so soothing. Voice like honey
It's up there with Theme from Man of Lamancha and all the sad songs

this awesome song n moment wasn't in charlie n the chocolate factory which made original a bit better still waiting to see the new wonka movie...

I cry every time when listen to this song
😢😢😢😢😮😮
I could never appreciate this song as a child, I used to fast forward this part. It's really beautiful actually
Charlie should have taken his poor hard working mom to the Wonka factory.
True but in the end Charlie's grandpa believed in Charlie's will get a golden ticket for the factory. They both had the same hopes and dreams to go there Also he gave up on the tobacco and use the money that Charlie gave him to buy a Wonka bar Sadly no golden ticket but came later

Oh wow
Who's here because of John Mulaney
It’s an awful song…and we all fast forward through it 😂😂😂
This movie has many wonderful songs, this one is one of my favorites ❤
I do tear up at this song sometimes. You just don't see this kind of heart tugging care in movies these days. Not like this
Best song of the movie!!❤
Great voice for such a tired unkept woman
Someone play this for the Buffalo Bills fan who pulled his hat over his eyes and sobbed yesterday
I would sing this to my sons when they were not happy.❤ 0:36
This song brrings me tears she just wants him to be happy eaither way 😢 wish my mom was that way with me cheer me up or something but never has happened only with her other grown favorite kids oh well..
Cheer up Charlieee 😯DOOOOOO
This is truly an underrated gem in a masterpiece movie.
Worst song in the movie by far.
I like to wonder the streets to this song 😅
But Charlie, don't forget what happened to the man who suddenly got everything he always wanted
He lived happily ever after.

This is one of the best scenes from this movie! Family is everything.
Love this song!!!!
I am related to Diana Sowle and that was her voice singing this song- not Diana Lee
