@@karlsmith7016 i thought the same at first since that’d be a typical bass movement, but you can hear on the higher section of the chord that he also drops the root note and is no longer there. Besides you can hear the I chord going to the iii chord but with the 5th on the bass.

Hey, thanks a lot! And congrats on your electric, hope you enjoy the journey! The technique you mention is just called "slide" and you can do it in a number of ways, short slides, long slides, just on one string, more than one string. The technique consists of basically playing a note and then sliding the finger without lifting it up so you get to another note. For example for sliding from the 5th to 7th fret you're gonna pick on the 5th fret and then slide up to the 7th without picking again. In this case, this slide is used as an effect more than anything else, so it doesn't really matter that much where you start your slide as long as you're sliding down from high on the fretboard on the lower strings. To be fair it's probably the hardest rhythm guitar from their latest record if you want to do it 100% the way he does it. Otherwise just don't pay attention to the minor details and focus on getting the palm mute and accents right, with a standarized pattern for those accents throughout the whole song so you don't have to be thinking about all the different accents and minor details that he's constantly changing.

The bpm is around 91, but it's not played to a click so it's not locked in to 91 bpm. The time signature is 4/4 but it subdivides the accents across 2 bars like 1 2 3, 1 | 2 3, 1 2 (the | is where the bar is) Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot, really appreciate that! I was using a Mesa Boogie Mark V/25, but you can achieve this tone with any amp. It’s important to dial in the gain right, it’s not that much gain so don’t crank it up all the way through. Then it has very few low end, some mids and highs. And then a bit of postproduction with some eq’ing and compressors. Hope this helps!
